UBOAT is a new Submarine Simulator that just dived into early access. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time.
In UBOAT you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health, because if the sailors are hungry, tired and their spirit is low, there’s no chance of winning even a skirmish.

same, only little neesh i have with this game is how fast some giant ships just sink in a matter of seconds, thankfully tho there is a mod to make them sink much more realistically

This brings me back the memory of Carlo Fecia di Cossato. Great Italian submarine commander. Second most successful submarine commander of ww2 with more than 100.000 tons of Allied ships sunken. Unfortunately he was also a bit too patriotic and he decide to suicide after having apprehended of Italy surrender. Thinking that his last naval battle he single-handled sinked 11 German ships with just a destroyer... And even saved anotger Italian destroyer that was hit at the engine. He was a true man of the sea.

Wolfpack! Great to see you again! - A few points: 1) The Laconia Incident: They made a movie about it, and you can see it on KZfaq if you choose. The Uboat had not only Italian Soldiers, but British civilians - all over their deck and in boats daisy chained behind the Uboat. They were attacked by a B-24 - which CLEARLY SAW the giant Red Cross symbol that had been painted on a sheet that was draped on the conning tower. 2) You can use AP to take down the hull faster - and store ammo in the storage area below - assign one officer as "Quartermaster" and he will run ammo up to the deck gun while you are surfaced. Love your vids man - you do such great work and it's nice to see my fav Uboat (and SH3) skipper back in his iron coffin.

Awesome start to a new series! It's great to see how far U-Boat has come and I really hope to see even more QoL features like what was shown here. Now.. if only we could get a new Silent Hunter! I'd love to see something on par with modded SH3 but gorgeous and optimized with new tech and graphics... *dreams*

For anyone wanting to read amazing book about war on the sea & submarine crew lives, i highly recommend Wolfgang Ott's Sharks and little fish. It's pretty brutal. But great book.

That's the thing about the Silent Hunter series; it was nice to have all those direct, manual options for all the controls, at least for the diehards that like to do all that. This game is nice, because you're captain of the U-boat, and you have a crew for a reason...some of these functions the crew should be doing as soon as you dive, surface, etc.

Love this game. Mediterean was fun, although the Sicily-Tunis gap is basically all you need to patrol to catch all allied shipping in Med. (although half of my tonage was from raids on Malta.

I'm not sure how it was back then, but I hear now you set the torpedo to explode under the ship at the keel creating a shockwave pocket of low pressure which causes the vessel to snap in half, because the ends are still supported but the middle is not due to the air bubble created. Something like that, I was reading the other day

UBOAT is not that complex unless you want to make it so. You can easily play on Easy difficulty and never bother with crew management and accurate TDC gameplay. You will, of course, lose a bit on efficiency and immersion but for some people, that is a worthy sacrifice.
