New Yorker here. We call them dirty water dogs, because you get them from street vendors with questionably sanitary food carts. Want a real NY styled hotdog? Go to the supermarket, grab a pack of Nathan's, throw it in some boiling water in a pot that may or may not have residue from the last time you used it, and simmer it all day. At some random point, get up and pick the dog out the water with tongs, throw it onto a bun (making sure to get as much water as possible on the bun, this is important!) make sure to throw a huge glob of ketchup on it, mishear your company and throw relish on it even though they didn't ask for it, and then ask them 7 times if they want to pay $3 for a can of soda. THAT'S NY HOTDOG.

Sounds about right. In my city, the street meat is always grilled on open flame and I am always shocked at the disappointment I feel when I have a boiled NYC hot dog with way more ketchup than I would ever want

In London I'd be happy paying £7 providing the hotdog was high quality. But I live in Newcastle and I'd say £5 would be a better pitch. £7 if it came with fries maybe! UK pricing is unbelievable. I remember visiting relatives as a young man, and thinking about how they were getting ripped off. To this day I cannot understand the UK's outrageous pricing. The VAT should not double the price of everything. I simply do not understand why you guys across the pond pay so much for every day stuff (my corner place charges US $1.99 for a LOADED hot dog with fries and a coke). By the way, I live in Chicago, a city of 3m people, not some rural toffer-ville (trying to remember what you people say). I would be curious what economists would say to explain the UK's insane price inflation compared to other civilized countries.

Agree with the Dubstep, felt like it was a COD video at times, was just waiting for the "420 blaze it" to scroll across the screen and the 14 year olds screaming "ohhhhhhhhhh".... But..I liked this guy, i don't feel he's trying to be a DJ BBQ clone or anyone else, he has his own style and it was a good video. What's the deal with the "no ketchup" comments? Putting tomato sauce on a hotdog is fine. People like their food differently. It's called an opinion. No-one's opinion is right or wrong. That being said. That Hotdog is worth $3 US at most.

London prices are very expensive. This looks good but so messy to eat, when I make mine I put the fried onions into the bun first then the sauce and finally the sausage, its so much easier to eat.
