There's nothing wrong with the Stanley planes, they're just a little different. I use Lie Neilson planes with the A2 iron in them. Never had any problems sharpening them and they seem to hold an edge longer. Good to hear you stand up for the Stanley. I was trained on them many years ago. I still have a good collection of the Stanley planes and still use them sometimes. Thanks for sharing.

Agree, low angle jacks are a menace ! End grain or really straight and nothing else. Ive got a LN 62 and rarely pick it up!

I just got off the phone with Black and Decker. They told me that all Stanley planes have been discontinued. I was shocked. I have a standard #5 Bailey with a cambered iron that works well as a scrub plane. I have the same issue with the Stanley #62 low angle giving me tear-out.

Hello, thank you so much for this video. As a result, which one do you recommend ? No 62 or No 4? Thank you.

A 4 if I only had "1".

If i already had a "4", I'd get the 62.
