Looking forward to your upcoming videos - I purchased a 2017 FPIU 4 months ago here in northern Michigan and watched most of your prior videos to help convert, but in many cases the difference between 2013 and 2017 FPIU's is notable and not straightforward. I would love to figure out how to disable the rear tailgate lockout so that I don't have to have to follow the magic formula to get the rear hatch open, it'd be nice to just open the rear hatch as long as the doors are all unlocked. I am also looking forward to your video on adding remote start and fog lights. One thing you did not mention specifically which I am very much wanting to do is to add a Tesla Style infotainment center, but with my limited knowledge and a price tag of anywhere from $600 up to as much as $2,000 that's a lot of cash to be dropping. I am currently working on replacing the PTU fluid and may make a video of that to help others because the Ford manual does not have any procedure for replacing the PTU fluid aside from completely removing the PTU unit which is a very time-consuming process. My interceptor had 89,000 miles on it and within about a thousand miles I started noticing that there was what felt like hesitation or slipping in the transmission. The owner's manual calls for changing the transmission fluid at 150,000 miles which is pretty ridiculous and does not have any interval for replacing the PTU fluid. I found that this transmission is not friendly when it comes to trying to replace the transmission filter so I did a simple drain and refill of the transmission fluid, drove it for a couple days and then drained and refilled the transmission fluid again with clean fluid. When I drained and refilled the transmission the first time my hesitations in the transmission almost completely went away. When I did the next drain and refill a couple days later my fluid again was really dark and upon refilling I found that my transmission was very smooth. I have gained about one MPG for fuel and hoping that with replacing the PTU fluid here I will get an additional boost in fuel performance because I anticipate that the fluid that's in the PTU right now is really thick and gummy which would cause a lot of resistance. Thank god!! I got a 2016 and im lost!! 1. Turning the door back into a normal liftgate 2. How to program a regular keyfob ive read you can program with the ford switch blade with remote start would be nice! 3. Everything related to forscan..everything ive activated in forscan doesnt work except dark car mode. 4. The fog lights. From what ive learned. If you have the harness you can plug and play with forscan but afaik no one has the harness so if you get a set the must be hardwired into the headlights..maybe you can find a more professional way 5. Rear seats i really wanna know what your gonna go with on this. The 2020+ seats are wildly available and super cheap for some reason i wonder if they can be modified to fit! 6 the radio! Ive been tearing my hair out trying to figure out a replacement. The bluetooth is going in mine and i just dont know whats gonna work and i dont wanna spend 2-3k for a sync kit. Your lucky your dont have rear climate control cause that adds a whole host of other problems 😢 7. Can you please show us how to get thr horn to work on these cars PLEASE. My horns are wired up and work but nothing from pressing the button not even a relay click Regardless I look forward to this series and anything you do with it 🎉 congrats

Nice find. I have a 2019 FPIU with the 3.5l Eco-boost 100K miles. When i got the car I knew the water pump and the PTU would be a problem at some point. My credit union offered me a warranty service that covers all parts and labor for engine and drive line items. Got them to replace my PTU as it was leaking and they replaced one of my turbos while they were doing the work. it was $5k worth of work that I didn't have to pay for out of pocket. If you do end up selling that Setina push bar id be willing to buy it from you. Mine had one when it was in service I have to cut outs for it but the PD kept it. Id eventually like to reinstall it at some point if i can get my hands on one. Not a lot of junkyards around me have FPIU explorers let alone with equipment still in them.

I got a 2017 and removed the spotlight and got new cover on Amazon for 40$ & put automatic light switch I got from Walmart for 50$ but I’d like to get the horn working & new back door locks & roof rack maybe one day I’ll change the center console

I know you are talking about grill replacement but those police lights once removed... there are factory black plastic covers that snap in once the lights are gone. PPD probably have them.. somewhere. 2016 -2019 look good.. but i kinda like the 2013-2015 now same as the 2012-2014 chargers

Also I’d be interested in the center console spotlight or other police lights. The rear lights look like factory upfitter lights that have Ford plugs

Awesome stuff, just got done watching all of your videos. This Friday I'll be picking up a '19 PIU with 67k mi and 11k total engine hours for $6k. A bit of a gamble since I didn't have time to inspect, but according to the logs they maintained it religiously. This is not my first gov. auction but it is my first PIU. Depending on what I find I'll either flip it around quickly or convert back to civilian trim and adopt it as the new daily driver. If I go this route I'll do the full conversion back to civilian trim since I don't want to be the douche driving the cop car, lol. Have you considered opening up a forum or discord channel focused on de-policing?

Looks great. I would like to tell you right off the bat, if you want keyless entry, you will need the dealer remote (Part# GB5Z15K601C). The programming is different and you will need FORScan. Do not open the package from the dealer until you program it. There's a little 48 character code on the outside of the package. Additionally, if you want remote start you are unfortunately going to need an aftermarket solution. I recommend 12 volt solutions remote start kit with long range remote. I have it in my vehicle and I love it. No splicing into wires on 16-19 kits, it's completely plug and play. I'm not very sure on 16-19 stuff but that is one of them. You can also make the liftgate follow the unlock button. However be careful, if you hit the trunk button on a remote, it'll just act as the button in the vehicle. It'll relock once you close it.

My police utility was a sheriff vehicle. They left all kinds of residue and scratched the paint. Mechanically all the needs repaired is a exhuast leak between the turbo and exhuast manifold.

Could you do a video on programming a key fob for a car that doesn’t have one? My interceptor only has regular keys and manual locks. Also is there a way to get the interior lights to come on when the doors open?
