Only the Polynesian Teams like Tonga Samoa and All Blacks from New Zealand do the traditional Haka before a game. It’s a cultural thing to show that they’re ready for war and to battle

When I was learning how to play rugby I learned pretty quickly you got to release the ball right away after getting tackled. Not because of the referee calling to get off the ball but because I’d leave the game with cleat marks all down my back from the other team’s players ‘reminding’ me to let go by raking their boots down my back. 😳

NeuRolyS yes, but it’s easier to adapt to intensity over a short period of time, which all Rugby players have, because all they would need to do is to go harder because no need to preserve energy. Where as Football players just wouldn’t be able to do it

No the All Blacks and Maori All Blacks do the 'Haka'. The Samoans do the 'Siva Tau' and the Tongans the 'Sipi Tau' Same sentiment as in a challenge before battle but calling them all Haka diminishes the cultural relevance. Basically Rugby has a thriving international competition (unlike league which is barely played by anybody)

listen bro, im english and love my rugby. but writing off the yanks just because they have helmets is stupid. they use those things as battering rams and provably still get fucked up because theyre all coming down with brain damage from hits to the head - it's in the courts at the moment nfl teams are some of if not the richest sport teams in the world and they get the biggest and most powerful athletes in the world. on top of that rugby is an 80 minute game where size and power is tempered by the need to run around for the full game american football on the other hand is a set piece game where you have huge guys, as big and bigger than the biggest players in rugby - typically our lock forwards - charging at eachother with battering rams on their heads literally as fast as they can, then being able to rest so they can do it again on top of this in union at least and part way in league we have to wrap the arms in a tackle. whereas correct me if im wrong americans but i believe they can run and smash people with full on shoulder charges and though they arent meant to - often get away with full on helmet smashes with 300lbs+/135kg+/21stone+ of weight behind them running at full speed like i said i love my rugby and cant wait for the world cup starting friday but to discount these monsters just because they have pads and a helmet is a mistake. these guys are beasts

Not all Rugby teams perform what is called haka’s. It’s usually only a very few select Polynesian teams like New Zealand, Fiji, Somo, teams like this whose nations with ancient indigenous roots pay homage to their culture and way of life by performing these hakas before the games. It’s also a reminder of their war gods and the hakas their tribes would have done before going to war.
