The defense is stellar, the offense is growing into Dave Canales’ scheme. The OL and running game are improving. Baker’s physical skills are matched by his football IQ and leadership. Barring injuries, this team will win games and make the playoffs. Go Bucs!!!

As a bucs fan three things happened 1. Baker is playing very well and has a locker room that believes in him. 2. The bucs defense still has lots of championship players, white, david, winfield jr,veaand new guys like lzien that have been fantastic so far. Bowles has coached them very well too. 3. I adore Brady, but yeah, he was just not very functional with that O-Line and running scheme. Baker is able to cover up for some of the O-Line's flaws while being willing to push the pass to the awesome recievers. The X-Factor is whether the run game can be solid most weeks

This was the same Baker that Cleveland had. But this is the same Baker Mayfield that the general manager and the coach didn't want. And the owner got the press to turn against Baker Mayfield. Now he's healthy he is happy 😊 and they're not asking him to be Superman. Because when he was in Cleveland they wanted him to be Superman. And now he doesn't have to do that. This is Tampa's gain and Cleveland loss. 😢 And this is exactly what the fans in Cleveland wanted. And they have the 30th ranked quarterback in the NFL.

Repeatedly asking your QB to convert third and long is asking an awful lot. That's how the offense has been so far with the predictable run up the middle on 1st and second downs for 2 yards per carry. It's working so far, but Canales is starting to adapt a little more.

Let's not forget that the year before he played through and injury that surely needed attention, he threw for 3,600 yards, 26 touchdowns, six picks and led the Browns to a playoff victory in Pittsburgh with his head coach at home with COVID. It is simple: They are playing (mostly) mistake free football. Few turnovers, converting 3rd down. Great clock management. Timely Special Teams play. Keeping the Defense fresh. It is a winning formula. You don't need a HOF running back or QB to win with this package.

As a Bucs fan here is what I see. The o-line splintered after the 2021 season and what we were left with couldn't protect Brady. Brady CANNOT function behind a broken O line. Baker can thrive behind this type of O line because he can escape pressure and extend plays as we've seen him do numerous times already. The defense has to account for him and if they don't he'll make them pay for it. I love Tom Brady and he is the GOAT, but even now he would be struggling with the O line we got.

I am loving Canales positive vibes, but he has not been very creative in the run game. Too many 1st down runs into the pile. BUT he does instill confidence, and I think the prep work and film study helps Baker as much as anything. I know Baker is actually calling on his 5 and a half years of seeing defenses in this league too. The experience is important, especially with a memory like Baker has. Part of his success is that he has learned a lot from the gotchas and mistakes.

A lot of that probably has to do with expectations. The guy was the #1 overall pick, so Cleveland media was treating him like that and the expectations were high.
