Fun fact: that stupid looking wing for the 550 Spyder is based on a real thing. One of the first ever people to think of fitting an “upside down aeroplane wing” to a car was a 550 driver. If I remember correctly, it was for a race at the Nürburgring, and he went like 30 seconds faster around a lap than the official Porsche team. Edit: the driver was Michael May, and he was only 4 seconds a lap faster than the Porsche team, but still.

I am the developer who is working on the simulation physics and engine sounds that were used as a basis for the arcade physics. Loads of research went into this mod. Currently, the simulation physics is an old version made 2 years ago. Currently, I am working on a NFS MW simulation mod, for which the improvements will be present in the next version of the Sim physics

In terms of screensavers I always loved the Windows 3D Pipes one, it's been one of my all time favorite screensavers, I still use it today on Windows 11 after getting it off the internet archive (at least I think that's where I got it)

Btw Porsche Taycan was added in 2023 NFS Unbound Porsche event and as i see in this Carbon mod it has 2 gears and sounds from Unbound, even max speed same Also mod is very interesting! Will wait for release to try finished version myself

So the total conversion is still alive and well. Awesome. However, in its current stage, I have to say I can only see the future potential, but not much of it actually being fulfilled right now. The main issue is that it's too incomplete, it doesn't come off as a radical change to the game but rather a reskin, as most of the career's progression is otherwise still there, and the gameplay, excluding the car replacement, feels mostly the same. Compared to Hot Pursuit Challenges for MW2005, it doesn't seem to do a lot to rival it. The changes of HPC were very radical in nature, all cars got replaced, Rockport's aesthetic and atmosphere changed substantially, the pursuit system was overhauled, car handling was improved, menus changed, new cutscenes were introduced and old ones were removed, music was replaced, and while it did cut the career mode entirely, the challenge series was redone to the point it became unrecognizable - and the original duology had championships with or without cops rather than modern, linear career modes anyway. It felt like an entirely new experience, just like, for instance, the Beta Content Mod (which to my surprise, is still receiving substantial updates). For a total conversion, right now it just isn't "total" at all. Battle Royale was much more radical too. As a first step, it may be better to just cut the career mode here entirely as well if it cannot be changed too much, and focus on a new challenge series like HPC did. The visuals and style of the game also needs to go as well, to bring it closer to the exotic, urban, and industrial areas seen in the original (perhaps even turn it into daytime racing?)
