Oilers are now 7-3 in their last 10 and been playing great in that stretch, climbing the standings slowly but surely, only thing is that they got a 5 day break, just hope they dont cool off

Skinner is giving us the perfomances we NEED. Draisaitl is looking way better too. That was some of the most emotion I've seen from him in a regular season goal. he NEEDED that one.

They did because they didn’t give up they kept the pressure up and eventually the dam burst and it did. They could have easily got upset and let Helly get to them but they didn’t.

Helly was Drydenesque lucky, at times, some atypical missed calls, especially holding/interference ones against McDavid...we had the better quality opportunties & pressure. Better collective effort & team resilience...sustain this, including some injury luck, buying Holland some time to make a few, hopefully quality trades, (goalie & defenseman).

Carolina was there last loss four games ago. They beat Washington 5-0 they beat Anaheim 8-2 they beat Vegas 4-3 in OT and beat the Jests 3-1.

Glad to see Skinner rebound from that bad 3rd period against Vegas. Maybe he is coming around and is a number one. It helps when your d is playing so much better. I knew Coffey would help the D. Experience or not, the simply fact of the matter is. He knows hockey and knows what it takes to be defensively minded and to be offensively minded. I was so stocked when he when he was hired to help the d core, no nonsense kind of guy, i got that impression from the first interview when they introduced Paul as assistant coach. Go Oilers

Credit to the Jets, this game was a lot closer than I thought if you just looked at the 3-1 score. Jets could have won this if not for some clutch saves by Skinner. Still, exciting to see the Oilers continuing to turn things around, much more interesting this way!

Wins cannot mask the fact that the problems that have plagued the Oilers in recent years persist. The team will still fail when it counts until said problems are addressed (but, management only cares about short-term ticket sales, so, meh, you Oilers fans are screwed).

@@ryans413I have to say the only real difference I see is in the defence activation and transition out of their zone. It's like night and day. It's creating a lot of scoring chances that weren't there in the beginning. The defensive part is better too surprisingly. But still poses the question Manson was trying to deal with, if the oilers make the playoffs and it becomes a defensive slug fest will these guys be able to shut down other teams the way they get shut down, or will Coffey's transition game and getting pucks in behind teams clogging up the middle be enough to generate the offense needed to outscore the opponents? Time will tell. They have to make playoffs first and that's a long ride still.

this game reflects the issue of NHL officiating. Refs missed one call of the hit on Morriessy, then they just refused to make any calls against jets for a long time

One could argue that Oilers or Jets each had the refs in there back pocket. I think it is more insidious - they are DIRECTED to make "pro?" hockey as ExCiTiNg as possible by manipulating momentum for either team. THEY have to make it a close game EVERY time. Except in the case of an American team - then it is blatantly rigged for the USA based team to win as much as possible. Neither the Jets or the Oilers or any Canadian based team will EVER win the cup with Bettman365 running the show. It is nearly statistically impossible for no Canadian team to win a cup in the last 30 years - yet here we are.

At one point shots were 20 to 5 for the oilers plus they held Winnipeg to 1 goal and Helly was the one making all the dangerous saves more then Skinner so I’d say Edmonton’s defence did okay tonight.

So how many games suspension is #13 getting for setting a pick and headshotting a star defenceman? He knew what he was doing, and was MAD because his beloved ;#97 wasn't scoring. This precedent has been set by Montreal, the old "he knew what he was doing and was mad" case. So Sheifeke got 4 playoffs games for a 100% CLEAN check, this IDIOT should get 16 games suspension, $5000 fine. Chop chop NHL.

Actually, if the refs threw out and penalized every headshot, #13 and #97 would have been out of the game, and each starting their 16 game suspensions. IF the refs actually saw ALL the entering of the face off circle and actually CALLED IT, you wouldn’t have a 75% success rate. But Bettman has his AGENDA. AND BETTMANS AGENDA is alll that matters. It will just be funnier when your god awful team gets SWEPT in the playoffs. Mark my words

There is NO WAY you can call that 109% CHEEZY call with 3 minutes left in a TIE GAME. Unless of course, you are DESPERATELY trying to get your beloved "star" into the playoffs right? And what's with ALWAYS throwing out a Jet player from the faceoff dot, but NEVER EVERY TIME the Oiler player entered the circle early? And it's OPEN SEASON in McDavids head. Every check he threw was aimed at the head. He even took Nanestinkov out of the game. If course there was NO PENALTIES for ALL THE HEADSHOTS, because Bettman wants to his little boy in the playoffs . If your little refs “miss “ a BLATANT HEADSHOT on Morrissey, and then 3 BLATANT HEADSHOTS #97 made, the refs are either GROSSLY UNQUALIFIED, or three are rigging the game. If anything Bettman wants the oilers to miss playoffs he rather have an American team win. And the refs missed way more penalties on the jets than anything. Oilers had 2 powerplays Jests had what 4 or 5.
