@@PurpleLois The Buff owner has been historically quite cheap compared to the others. Even right now it says Buff has the 2nd most amount of cap room. If he really cared about winning he would spend that even on a 1 year contract. The Jack Eichel pick was good and getting Tuch back for Eichel was good for Buff too. Jack was #2 overall though. Many teams with a top 10 pick can have a bad owner / GM combination and the sharks have been no different. It is still better to get a top pick and not win the cup than to be an average team who has no shot at a playoff series win who also has no shot to win a cup.

@@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants Not sure about your opinion, friend. Playing in the post-season regularly and getting to the Cup Finals has a price to pay in the new NHL. Wilson thought he could trade and free agent his way to the top and he isn't the first or last to think so. it's probably best to rebuild right after losing the Final to mitigate the length of a rebuild.

@@UncleAnaesthesia The Karl trade from the Sens was terrible because no player was going to make that sharks team a cup winner. I remember very vividly at the time I thought Crosby or Mcdavid could have come instead and the context ended the same. The Sharks ended up trading #3 overall and Josh Norris which is way too much for a rental player. The Martin Jones contract was another and after he was released by Wilson the Sharks had to pay dead cap for Jones for 6 years in a row. The Hertl contract is a train wreck for a team with no chance at a cup. I could go on.

@@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants All things considered, maybe the Hertl contract isn't the worst thing. Vlasic is a shadow of his former self and making 7 million for two more seasons. It's frustrating to watch when you know he has shutdown potential.

@@UncleAnaesthesia That was one of the biggest problems with Doug Wilson is he signed many to contracts that were way too long. in 2017 It is not shocking Wilson wanted to keep him but why 8 YEARS? Plus he can only be traded to 3 teams without his permission and one of them is MTL. The worst part of it though is not his no trade clause or even the amount per year but the amount of years. If it was just a 4 year deal it would have been way smarter and safer. If he and his agent demanded an 8 year deal well show them both the F door. When he gave Kevin Labanc his 4 year deal even though the cap amount was higher than he was worth, he still could have been traded to anyone and it was only a 4 year deal. It obviously was another bad contract but this is at least a REASONABLE bad contract. The Couture contract has been one of the better Doug Wilson contracts but it still is generally a bad idea giving 8 year contracts. If it was a cheap amount and you could trade the player to any team I could be more ok with it but most 8 year deals never work like that.

There is nothing to feel bad about. The Sharks cap situation and roster was messed up by the last GM and now the team is paying for it. A top 4 pick in the first 2 rounds is a win for sure thing non playoff teams. I never got the appeal why fans love winning meaningless games when it hurts them in the draft. I know some fans just do not care about the draft at all and a petty meaningless win means WAY more to them.

as a hawks fan i feel for the sharks fanbase. its hard watching your team rebuild last years blackhawks roster was absolutely abysmal post trade deadline, but hopefully the payoff will be worth it for san jose theyll get a top 3 pick and still got will smith coming up from the minors

I feel bad for the Sharks and their fans. No one likes to lose, but it's painful watching the Sharks lose this way. Hope they soon get a win or two to help boost their confidence, and give the fans something to cheer about.
