The Brisebois story has a positive ending. He came back and played his last 2 seasons in Montréal and helping in his first in the playoff. People loved him then and when he retired he became a NHL analyst for RDS then for a little while a part of the development team under the Bergevin era. He's not part of it anymore in the Hugues era but he still comes to the veteran events ! Everything between him and the fans seems to have gone for the better !!

You're not wrong about Suter. He's pretty widely disliked in Dallas too. A lot of people seemed surprised he wasn't bought out in the offseason

Suter is such a prima donna. He stated to Nashville that he wanted to stay, Poile made everything for him to stay in Nashville and then he just left! Thank god though! He's still super super hated here in nashville as well.

Ryan Suter got paid a lot of money for not being even close to Norris quality. Not to mention his off ice power trip, having practice move closer to his house, complaining about power play time etc.

The thing about Brisebois is that his contract was, at the time, the most lucrative in the history of the Canadiens franchise so far. It was worth up to 17 millions over 4 years with bonus, which doesn't seem like a lot of money today but it certainly was 20 years ago. That made him one of the most well paid defencemen in the league too. So yeah, both the press and the fans made that a big deal. With big money comes big expectations. Expectations that were way too high for a guy like Brisebois. Still, I remember being really pissed at the Montreal fanbase when for the way the acted toward him. Sure NHL players are professional athletes who make much more money than an average guy and they should be expected to take the pressure. But at the same I thought... do you guys want the team to win or what? I mean, nobody will perform better at their job if they're constantly booed and harassed, that's just not how the human mind works. Brisebois was clearly not in the right headspace and kept making more and more mistakes because of it, and the mockery from the fans kept getting worse. There was a point when the guy couldn't touch the puck without being booed and laugh at. That was painful to watch as a Canadiens fan. What's surprising is that Brisebois came back and finished his career in Montreal after his time in Colorado. Maybe the guy is a masochist after all? Haha
