I'm a 45 year old rookie beer league goalie, and every time I'm tempted to go play (trip over) the puck in the corner, I hear Steve's words echoing in my mask: "IF YOU'RE A GOALTENDER, TEND THE GOAL!"

That works on bear league. In real NHL game, goaltender's NEED to play the puck Simple as that. Steve just doesn't understand it.

@@markiv2942 Sure, but they need to be smart about it. Goaltending is the highest priority, and playing the puck when they can slots in somewhere below that. That's what The Phrase is about.

Any less than 5 games isn't worth being bothered over. Our goaltenders could maybe take some notes here about tending the goal, though.

The funniest part about the Mark Stone goal dang it, is the fact that LA held the puck behind the net for an eternity in order to have one last offensive push, only to immediately give it away and lose the game

I was watching that game as I am a wings fan. I literally laughed when I saw the replay. I have been so lucky to have Mickey Redmond for most of my life. Best color commentator in sports in my opinion. So honest.

that's fine..they played better overall. it's not like they didn't have chances, they had 3 or 4 grade A chances, but flower was really on his A game.

On the day of posting, Vancouver chose to flip the script by blowing multiple one-goal leads in their game against Minnesota (instead of blowing one multi-goal lead) on the way to a 4-3 OT loss.

Mickey is legitimately the best reason to watch a Red Wings game - and as a Wings fan who has been watching him since the early 90s when he was paired with the legendary late Dave Strader, I've had a lot of good reasons to watch a lot of Wings games. Mickey is and always has been at the top of that list. Name the press box after him. What an absolute legend.

Mickey Redmond has his own "Mickeyisms" if you get into it. Years ago there was a list in the Detroit News... Yeah, Im showing my age. But "Bingo Bango" or "His jockstrap was hanging out on the scoreboard!" We adore Mickey. Also his "Ginger Ales" depending on how well the wings are doing... LOL

I agree with you regarding the "Chrome Domes" for the Kings, and I'm a Kings fan. Maybe not quite as ugly as Vegas' gold lids, but they gotta go.

They're both atrocious. Although I do think it's cool that they give the current league scoring leader a gold helmet in whichever European league that is... Not sure if they still do that but I always thought it was cool. There should only be one player in the league with a gold helmet, maybe the league leader in assists could wear a chrome one... 🤷

Also the comedy from the backwards falling comes from the arms flailing usually cause they're trying to balance themselves.. when falling forward typically your arms go forward to try to catch you in a way.

Was at that Kings game. The Golden Knights clearly saw what Durzi was thinking, ready to pounce on a pass. Didn't help LA was poor in passing the puck around that night. He deserved a benching for their next game -- blew a valuable point in the standings. Chrome domes looked good when debuted OUTSIDE at an airport with WW2 vintage airplanes for the Kings' Air Force Academy outdoor game jersey reveal. At said game and in indoor arena lighting, not so much, though Vegas looks even worse with the gold ones.

My favorite part of the Canucks 3 on 0 is that this isn't the first time that's happened to them. A few years ago they also gave up a 3 on 0 chance in overtime to the Blues. The Blues, unlike the Blue Jackets, did score.

If the ref is the only one on the ice who sees the puck, normally they will yell, "Loose" and leave it to the players to figure it out from there.
