Nicole Kosch Lol yeah, then I realized DIC only dubbed a couple seasons before the show was dropped. Then Cloverway (I think) started in Canada and Usagi's/Serena's voice is just a "no" for me. So for now, I'll have to stick with VIZ and wait until they dub more episodes.

I do have nostalgia with "Molly" having the Jersey/NYC accent, but I think the change is worth the story being done right.

Naru actually doesn't speak in Kansai-ben at all... She's just speaking in standard Japanese like Usagi.

It's mainly because SuperS and Stars were both pretty weird seasons. SuperS was mostly episodic with a new Victim of the Day each episode and Stars forced the Starlights into every episode and because of that the secondary cast went out the window. It was pretty unfortunate because it made the Sailor Guardians' friendgroup look really insular. Besides that I like that Naru was such a reliable friend. That and I'd take Yuuichiro, Umino, Naru, Motoki, Usagi's family, and Rei's Grandpa over the Starlights anyday since the Starlights felt kind of redundant personality-wise.

You're right now that I think about it. They just disappear (it wasn't a big deal in Crystal since they're less filler.) But they all just disappear like they never existed. Heck the best friend doesn't even belong to Naru/Molly anymore, it now belongs more to Ami/Amy or Mina/Minako.

Yeah,you are right about that,that's what I thought too with serena/usagi's family since they don't even appear that much at all in the later seasons again or get mentioned ever again either,since usagi's mom only appears in one episode of the fourth and fifth season,her little brother also appears once in the episode of the fourth season and that episode when he had a crush on ami when they went to the beach and afterwards never appears or gets mentioned again.and her dad only appears in the first and second season of the series and never appears again after. The same thing with usagi's other friends besides naru and umino when they appeared in that episode from the first season when usagi wanted to lose weight and then never appeared again later on.😡 that was really annoying and irritating too.

To my surprise as an original DiC SM fan who forgot how Naru spoke in Japanese, it's false. (I speak Japanese.) Naru speaks in standard Japanese like Usagi. So... Molly's Brooklyn accent is totally random and more of a creative choice that the director and voice actor made. I really appreciate the effort the DiC director made in making sure that each character sounded distinct and could be identified just by their voice. Can't say the same about dubs these days where everyone sounds the same.

Ikr, I wasn't even born and the nineties and I can't help but call them by their english names (Ami's mostly by accident cause it's apparently said Uh-mi in Japanese). The only exception being the outer sscout (Saturn for obvious reasons), because when I decided to give the 90s a shot (I watched Cystral first), it was Viz. When I found out their English names, I didn't like then Michelle (Michiru).

Mary's performance on the death scene actually gives me goosebumps when she lets out that wail.

Honestly, the way Molly/Naru screamed when Nephrite faded away, it still haunts me years later.

In the DiC dub (and the few times she was in the Cloverway episodes), yes. I remember that starkly.

"Lenz" had recently created a profile of her own (voice123.com/claudialenz), and listing roles such as Marie from Persona and Hitomi from Dead or Alive (along with Estelle from Vesperia [among others]) allowed for the truth to come out. This is because Eden Riegel has either been directly credited for these roles in-game by her real name, or has otherwise claimed these characters on social media such as Twitter. What's more, both Judovits (as Danielle Nicole) and Riegel (as Claudia Lenz) have appeared in this very Sailor Moon dub. While one could always assume an actor can go by separate names for separate roles the theory doesn't hold up well when Viz is announcing voice actors for key characters by their actual name before the corresponding dub volume release irregardless of how they are actually credited. The cited interview article that acted as the basis for Judovits being Estelle (and later Sumia and Nah, and eventually all the roles attributed to "Lenz") should be noted for the fact that Judovits never gave any detailed responses to the questions she was asked and the words "Namco Bandai" or "Tales series" were never spoken. Ergo, she had mistaken the role as being something else (the interview was about "being in an RPG", *not* about "being in Tales of Vesperia."

It made sense, because Naru spoke in an osaka-ben accent, the DiC voice acting group wanted to maintain that uniqueness for Molly so that's why she spoke with a southern accent.

I know someone who works on modern-day dubs. The need for adding that 'uniqueness' continues to this day.

If the show takes place in Tokyo than almost any voice that doesn't have a Japanese accent should sound out of place. If you were implying that the Jersey accent was why she felt out of place.

I know that because you prbly grew up with mary's voice, you are more used to it and prefer it. Just like I watched the one with Danielle and I prefer her voice because of that. But Danielle is a great voice actor and has a lot of emotion in her voice just like Mary does!

Rainbowanimal2005 AJ I prefer all of the voices from the Viz dub over the DiC/Cloverway. Cause I see them as the negative of the viz voiced. So you are not alone
