My childhood was unhappy and ugly. So I really appreciated watching the Waltons. I was able to glimpse what a family full of love was like and that's what I used for a pattern for my own family. Today, I still watch the Walton's. My family asks: "don't you ever get sick of watching that?" and I always tell them "No. I'm getting my wholesome fix. "

I was 15 when the show first aired. I am now 64 and my love and gratitude for these characters, the wonderful actors who portrayed them, and the great writer who created them has never waned. This series, in my humble opinion, is the greatest drama in television history. I thank God that I own all the DVDs and when I get tired of the crud that's on TV now, I can always turn to The Waltons for a little solace and inspiration.

How can you NOT like The Walton's? It was a true story being told over a period of time by the Man who lived it. I love this show. No nudity. No cursing. Nothing fake..and yet it won a lot of awards. You cannot call tv nowadays as entertainment. Talk shows, reality TV, and news is what is on TV now..AND ITS HORRIBLE. Anyway thank you so much for this video. 2 THUMBS UP. I love The Walton's. Makes me miss those times growing up.

I'm in Ireland and the Waltons was a big part of my childhood growing up in the seventies. It made Tuesday evenings special. We would do our lessons (homework), eat supper (yes we called it supper in south-west Ireland too) and then fight over the best chairs to watch the Waltons. I would say the three most influential tv programmes on our childhood were Sesame Street, The Waltons and The Little House on the Prairie. Thank you America for such wonderful tv programmes full of innocence, good humour and so many valuable life lessons. Love from Ireland. xx

Inlaw suite where my mom lived with us for a year. Big front porch... work hard to make ends meet against all odds. Patriotic. Lots of love. Lots of God. Create the atmosphere you cherish. Doing so will put this country back on her feet. :)

My husband and I attend this 45th Walton Reunion and had the absolute best time. All the actors were so humbling and kind and I cannot wait to attend another year! Ray Castro did an awesome job putting this together for us to enjoy, so Thank you, Ray! I sure wish I had the chance to have met Earl Hamner Jr. What a wonderful man with so much talent. I am going to miss him. Mary McDonough (Erin Walton) said a beautiful speech regarding Earl and the Walton characters, Judy Norton surprised us all with her beautiful voice and Jon Walmsley (Jason) did an awesome job sing and playing his guitar. Actually, each of the Walton characters spoke so fondly of Earl Hamner Jr. Jimmy Fortune did an awesome job too playing and singing for us, bringing some us to tears singing How great thou Art. He even sang Elizabeth to Kami Cotler (Elizabeth). Cissy Wellman (Cissy Tucker) has enough energy to run my household. lol I wish I had her energy! I also had the privilege of speaking with Tammi Bula (Marsha Woolery), who is a nurse now, like I used to be. On Saturday, we did have to wait in a long line to get pictures and autographs with the actors but some of the staff and volunteers there would come out and talk with us, which made the time go by faster. Eric Scott's sweet wife, Cindy, also came outside to talk to us and all of them made sure we all had ice cold water to drink. We watched Michael Learned on Sunday at the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville, VA. and that was enjoyable also. (We were able to speak with her husband too, a very nice man.) Gosh, I could just hug each of them, as they were so gracious to us.

Yes, it was Cissy Wellman who played Sissy Walker Tucker, Yancy Tucker's wife. I for one was extremely happy when Yancy found Sissy. I did not think any woman would want to live in a one room cabin with his hound dogs, pigs and a few chickens. I was intrigued by the mountain weddings and the "chivaree" that followed.

At 47 years old, was and still is my favorite TV series and TV family. I still watch reruns and every movie special they did. Very sad Richard Thomas doesn't feel connected or a sense of loyalty to his TV family. Most sad to me though is the absence of John Waite. The love and respect i have for John Walton is only second to my own father. His passing still saddens me and every so often while watching a particular episode my eyes will tear up. The Walton's was such a big part of my life and after all these years , my teenage daughter's have watched with me since they were little and love it every much as I do.

They brought us hope in hard times, laughter and a family filled with love for many that did not have that in their own lives. I know some may not care that were in the series but I also know that some really feel the emotions and love felt during that time.

I didn't want to start watching the Waltons again because I had moved on but tv now is more crap than good and "The Waltons" still holds up! I watch as if I never saw the episodes before and still cry at the same parts! . The supporting cast on Walton's Mountain and other guest star roles were perfect too! Bless them all.I have to add that I am looking to buy my first house and I always tell people I want a house with a Waltons' porch!

The Waltons was a very unusual epic from several perspectives. Earl Hamner relived his youthful years vicariously through the actors that played his entire family, while the show played to several other angles as well. It captivated the youth of those playing childhood roles of Earl and his siblings during its 9 year run, while providing a positive (nurturing for some) family experience. As a showcase for the culture and lifestyle of Virginia's mountain region, those in attendance here were obviously moved by the series and by the "family" of visiting actors. Lastly, The Waltons series itself and its many later reruns have covered the world to the greatest of acclaim.

pass iton I LOVED the Waltons, but I could never call it completely decent. There are many scenes or episodes we would not let our kids watch. And the values portrayed on the screen were often screwed up, biblically speaking. Still I love it, and enjoy my own family of nine kids very much. Found the original movie but didn't like it... The series was much better. LOVE the theme music. And Jason's Ironing Board Blues. Favorite scene with Ellen Corby.

I watched the "The Waltons" in re-runs in 1982-83, which was late elementary school/early middle school for me. It was a terrible time for me, as I experienced racism and bullying at school, which contrasted with my family's expectation to follow traditions from their native India. So when I came home and watched my Walton family, I felt safe, protected, accepted and loved. In my early 40's, I once again faced personal crisis and "The Waltons" re-entered me life and remained as a steadfast during some difficult days. Thank you to Earl Hamner, all show's actors and the producers/crew for creating this masterpiece!

A most fitting tribute to an American icon, The Waltons. An unparalleled portrait of the American spirit, challenged by strife and war. The lessons that life can teach us about love, commitment, and overcoming adversity. This is the genre of television that we all need more of. Olivia & Grandma, especially, nurtured wholesome, Christian values into the family, that helped the family make good choices while growing into informed, progressive adults. Thanks, Nic. I laughed, I wept, I thoroughly enjoyed the program.

When I hear about The Waltons or watch the show it takes me back to a good place and time in my life as a child. Makes me also miss all my relatives that have past. I think Hollywood could never make this show today and people even watch such a pure and clean show about life as we should be living it. Wonder why Richard Thomas never attends the reunions? It would be considered "hate-speech" now days by the Leftists to have something like this on TV. However, there is hope. From this article--> "In light of blockbuster films such as "Noah" and the upcoming "Exodus," many Christians are wondering what is causing the upsurge in Hollywood films featuring Biblical content today. Within the past year, the Bible has been interpreted several times on both the big screen as well as television. In addition to the aforementioned "Noah" and "Exodus," "Left Behind" starring Nicolas Cage will reach theaters Oct. 3, while HBO recently added "The Leftovers," a series loosely based on the rapture, to its network. The list of faith-based entertainment made by non-Christians seems to be growing longer with each passing year."

No bull about it. Every day on youtube you can see people trying to silence the Christian viewpoint. Everyday in the legal realm, people are trying to frame Christians. This is FACT. Not bull. If you're not aware of it, perhaps you can tune in and watch for yourself. I walk the Christian faith, and regularly, people question and ridicule my choices. And you know what? Those choices involve merely being family focused....kinda like the Waltons. huh. Meanwhile, let's not drag this discussion out. It is enough to say you have not experienced the oppression as a Christian, but I have. It is enough to say that harmless people have been fined or thrown in jail or demoted, or fired from their jobs because they lived out their Christian faith. I sign petitions regularly to help convince leaders to free Christians from imprisonment. It's very real.

I am from a small town called Covesville, Va. Our family would watch the Walton every week. It was a great time to get the family together. In the mid 1970's when I was just a teenager, I got to met Earl Hamner Jr. and Will Geer in Nelson County Virginia on Nelson County Day at the High School. It was a great day. If you have seen the The Homecoming: A Christmas Story when John Walton was to come home from working out of town when the family found out a bus over turned in Covesville, Well that's where I am from.

This was the 2nd time my family & I had visited Schuyler. This time for the reunion we stood in line for 5 hours so that my 16 year old daughter (LeAnna) could get autographs & pictures. Its was worth standing in that line. Erin (Elizabeth McDonough) said it so wonderfully. She lived it, but those of us (generations in my family) who watched it every week on TV at home, lived it as well. What a beautiful story teller Earl was, what a beautiful time, place & family. But also what wonderful people the actors & actresses are. They made it worth standing in that line. Thank you all for taking the time to be there, being warm & welcoming like we were all just people from the mountain. Be See you again.

Lived in the community in 1957-58 at Van Riper's Lake and attended first and second grade at Rockfish Valley Elementary School. My second grade teacher was Mrs. Hamner. I often have wondered if she was related to Earl Hamner in some way. Returned to the area a few years back. The school building is still there but it has been repurposed. The auditorium had been named "Earl Hamner Theatre." But Van Riper's Lake was no longer there.

My family has a kindred spirit with The Waltons. I come from a family of 13, growing up on various farms in South Eastern Ohio, not far from the Ohio River. Yes, we were poor; although as children, we didn't even know we were poor. I was born in 1957; the youngest of the boys, I followed in my older brother's footsteps by serving 6 years in the US Marine Corps. In 1976 our family moved from a farm, to a small town in West Virginia, just across the Ohio River. My family was always musical, singing gospel music in church and winning a local talent contest during the 1960s. I carry on the family tradition at the age of 60, by singing in a gospel quartet called, The Carriers; whom I have been with since 1984. I was blessed to grow up in a Christian family, with parents who stayed together through it all. So......the Walton family as portrayed on TV wasn't exactly like our family, but enough so, that the show became one of our favorites to watch together. I am thankful for Earl Hamner's dedication to bringing this family values program into our homes. It meant much to me and my own family during a time of financial difficulty after my father was injured on the job and was not able to work. Thank you to the cast of The Waltons. You are appreciated more than you know.

Thanks for sharing Denver. I believe the success of the show can be found in the common similarities with families across the board. For me, I grew up in towns throughout the Pittsburgh, PA area. Dad (whose family came from Italy - actually Doris Hamner's family had Italian roots - so not so different after all) and Mom (whose family came from Slovakia) divorced, hence the moving around. But, as you move around, family becomes even more important. My background on the surface couldn't have been more different than the Waltons (based on the Hamner's family) - but I found so many similarities in the characters and events. It is true, we are all one, when we share of ourselves. Take care and Happy Easter.

I was so happy to be a part of this on Saturday the 25th of March this year, it was so much fun. We were one of the first 250 to be able to come through the doors and meet these truly amazing people who are so down to earth and sweet, they made small talk with all of us, it was fun to go through and meet these people who played such awesome characters on a show that is an icon for tv. I watched it in the last couple of years three times a day so. I fly from California to Chicago to my daughter's house, then we drove to Virginia, thank goodness her in-laws live an hour away. But still, we were tired from a long journey. My daughter's birthday present to me was for me to meet the Walton Family, truly amazing people. And I thank my daughter for such an exciting adventure!

Approaching 50-year anniversary. I am in process of binge-watching the series. I am presently up to the 5th season with episode where Grandma has left due to stroke of actress... I was born in 1971 and remember watching the show as a small kid. I grew-up on a farm (myself) and grew a dislike for farm-life, mostly due to the teasing that I had received from schoolmates (most of which were city kids). After all that our Country has been through the past few years, I'm looking for an uplifting show to reconnect with goodness. THIS show is perfect for me at this time and I am encouraging many others to watch it too--- many for the first time. John-Boy reminds me of my son in so many ways. I get a tear in my eye when I watch many of the episodes. I actually find myself jealous in how simple the times really were back then in the depression era-- The times developed a true toughness and appreciation for the little things. Unfortunately, I am irritated by our present selfish society with all the technologies and disconnect from real communication and foundations that family is meant to provide.. I pray to God that we can overcome a spoiled generation.

I loved the show from beginning to end ! I remember so much of it too. It had that much of an impact on me . I think above all the numerous touching scenes my absolute favorite was the first episode (?) When John Boy is writing at his desk late at night, by the open window, writing in his journal about the trains and the lonesome train whistles he hear when they are crossing the Rockfish Trestle. I think the breeze is blowing through the open window. It evokes such a lovely thought and moment in time. Sort of dreamy.
