Күн бұрынA Waltons Home Tour. You'll get to take tour the country farm house of the Waltons family, including the living room, kitchen, upstairs and front porch. You'll also learn some fun Waltons behind the scenes information about the show. This is an amazing example of a real farm house.
The Waltons family came to life through the cast - Ralph Waite, Michael Learned, Richard Thomas, Judy Norton, Ellen Corby, Will Geer, Mary Elizabeth McDonough, Kami Cotler, Eric Scott, Jon Walmsley and David Harper. But, their incredible country farmhouse also won our hearts!
Earl Hamner, Jr. - wrote the book about his family, Spencer's Mountain, which the Waltons was based on. As a special surprise, Paul Hamner, brother of Earl, who grew up in the real life Waltons home, will be recalling memories of family life, as we tour the rooms.
If you love classic tv and especially tv homes, you'll love this channel. We walk around inside of them as though the TV houses existed in real life.

Love was in everything, every moment, every ray of sunshine and every drop of rain. That's what we long for. That's why these shows draw us with such fervor.

Back in 2015, while working on the Warner Bros backlot in Burbank, I walked down a dirt path and found myself standing in front of the Waltons house. It was a surreal moment. No crew members were around. It was just me and the house in silence. It looks almost exactly the same way it did in the 1970s. Of course the interior is empty and nothing like the set that was on a sound stage. But it was a great memory for me. I really appreciate your animated tour!

@@francinelostocco4884 Thanks for asking. I didn't know, so it got me on a hunt to find out. This is what I found: "The house that served as The Walton family home ultimately became the model for The Dragonfly Inn. The original set had to be rebuilt after a studio fire and then relocated to Warner Bros. Studio. That set was used for the 1993 movie, as well as appearing in several other films and television shows." My father grew up in a family of 7 kids back in the 40s. They were the same way, they all loved spending time as a family together. They were not rich, but always had enough, and they were happy. Seems those days are gone.

There was a stained glass window in Grandma & Grandpa’s room - he saved it from an old building for her. I think that was in a later season, but it is the only thing I miss from this tour. And I have watched every episode multiple times!!!!! This was memory lane for me. Loved it all!!!

Ya weird that about the window is you never see it again in other episodes and another thing is the shed on the side of house keeps getting bigger and bigger, one episode that comes to mind is the one where Mary Ellen sells the type writer to the junk man

Why would we want to see this house? Because we feel like we spent a lot of time here in the house. We loved each character and felt as if they were our family. I still watch reruns. Thank you for your videos. I grew up with a huge front porch with swings on each end. We lived on our porch, so many memories similar to what was described here.

I am a subscriber to Judy Norton’s channel (the actress who played Mary Ellen). She discusses different episodes along with interesting behind-the-scenes information. She has said that the “secret” door in the kitchen actually led to a room where the food for the meal scenes was made/assembled! Thank you for this video today - you never fail to pick all my very favorites. I watched The Waltons in the 70’s with my father and we always managed to cry together during every episode. You are so right - the Walton house is part of me and my childhood memories, which is why I still enjoy watching the reruns today 💗.

Their house so reminded me of my cousins' farmhouse I stayed at in Maine back in 1969. Big front porch. There was a family reunion, and the musicians in the extended family had a "jam session" on the porch. Mandolins, fiddles, banjos, guitars playing old traditional tunes. I helped pick and shell a huge pot of peas and watched pies come out of a wood stove for a big outdoor supper. This was my "Woodstock". I guess that's why I liked "The Waltons" so much.

I loved this video. Heard a catch in Paul’s voice reminiscing about Christmas. His memories are filled with love of family and appreciation for his parents that made these memories so joyful for their children. That was a good time . Thank you Paul for sharing and Marina for the video. Loved it

Definitely the best series ever and I’m taken back to my childhood every time I see an episode the show has absolutely perfectly cast watching the show is like soul food for the soul while it makes you laugh, smile and even cry sometimes ❤❤ it makes me miss the simpler times of my childhood I’m now 54 so ya I’m getting old but the upside of getting old is the beautiful memories this show brings me back to it was one of the few shows we used to watch as a family and both of my parents have passed away now 😢💔💔

I know TV families aren't real, yet The Waltons taught me that some families actually talked through conflict and were able to express strong emotions in a typically constructive way. The Waltons hold a very special place in my heart. Thank you

I absolutely loved the Walton's and little house on the prairie, those are the tv shows I've rewatched a few times. I love the simple lifestyle, in the countryside, with family and friends, each episode had a moral, that brought me to tears. I loved when Earl said, after dinner, they would all sit on the front porch with their, relatives or guest's entertaining them with chats and games, just relaxing on a hot summer evening. Then listening to the insect noises, looking at the moonlit, starry sky. It sounds so cosy and they had a much healthier lifestyle as they were eating fresh home cooked food. My parents had a similar lifestyle with lots of siblings, except they didn't have a full set of grandparents around, living with them. I always look at the older generation and realize what a beautiful life they had, no phones, close human contact, neighbours looking out for each other, children playing in nature from dawn to dusk. Whenever I go on holiday, I always choose a resort where I'm in the countryside, then sit and relax in the evening. This was actually people's lives back then, I really wished I was born in that kind of era.

I distinctly remember my parents and I watching the movie "Homecoming" with Patricia Neal and Andrew Duggan as the parents, which was our first introduction to the Walton family. I remember it being a sweet and also suspenseful movie. I was only 7 at the time, so it must have made a great impression. I only watched the series occasionally, but it was always nice to know it was there if I wanted to. Nice work.

I Always loved the Walton’s home. It was so warm. Even with a large family they always had enough. Nothing ever extravagant, but no one did without. With a mother & father that were in love & loved each child equally. Also what made it even warmer was the grandfather & grandmother living there too. Everyone did their part to make the household run well. My favorite room was the kitchen with it’s long table where they ate together & if i am not mistaken they said the blessing. It reminded me so much of my family growing up in Tn. I loved their front porch too where they congregated as a family during leisure time. I know it The Walton’s made a great influence on me & i see now where i get alot of my household ideals from. I adored that house! Always wanted a front porch like theirs. Just good down to earth family living. Thanks for this house tour!

I think this video was an absolute knockout. I can see all the tenderness and love put into these renderings and this video. Just brilliant. @6:54 when Paul talks about the kitchen table being more or less the hub of family life within the house, I'm reminded of the last 20 years of residential architecture - how most of the homes built within the last 20 years reflect this same value: the kitchen being the central hub of family life. When a house is programmed well, people are very naturally drawn toward the kitchen. I love that, because that's how life was in our family home. All of the details you included in this walkthrough, Marina, make it seem as if the Waltons are still there, as though maybe they're all off hunting or on a shopping trip to Godsey's store. I so love this. It warmed my heart. :-)

I grew up watching shows like Waltons. This was beautiful and I smiled all the way through. I never realized that amazing split level to the main floor, that is quite fancy! This was a beautiful opportunity to see the set from every angle and it was so fun. Loved the comments from the family member, his accent and tender memories of life in that home. I only missed hearing the theme song which would have been icing on the cake.

My favorite show by far. Great presentation of the house & great to hear Mr. Paul Hamner too. Judy Norton has a YT channel & has explained the layout of the house including that mystery closet in the kitchen & the odd closet in the Living Room. It was common back in the day to add rooms onto a house as the family grew, with additions being built on the fly by themselves or by neighbors. Especially in areas of the country where this took place. This would explain a lot of seemingly mismatched rooms. I wonder if the Hammer home was also like this.

We loved The Waltons tv show, and this house always felt like home. There was a feeling that that family would take care of one another, and I guess we miss that feeling, especially now, when it seems like people don't care about whether they kill their neighbors. Watching that show gave you the feeling that if they could pull together and make do with what they had, without spending a lot of money, or hurting their neighbors, you could get through what you are going through. The truth is that there have been times when I fell back on this mindset. "I don't really need that luxury, I'm satisfied to have a roof over my head. So and so needs help, I can do that to help them..."

What a wonderful video. So lovely to hear Paul's soft voice and accent - he sounds very much like his Brother Earl. We learned a great deal of American social history from The Waltons over the series (seasons) and the morals and ethics of family life and respect for others, despite living frugally they always had enough. Most of all they taught us how to fill a home with love. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful! You brought at tear to my eyes @11:00. Things are so uncertain now, we don't know what kind of world our kids, much less our grandchildren will have left to grow up in. I love these memories of a simpler time, back when I had great grandparents, grandparents, great aunts and uncles. People who were wise, in their own way. Some of them watched these shows with me, and I remember a few specific episodes, who was there, what we ate for dinner, etc. Memories are so precious. Love your channel, keep up the great work! Walton's was a precious T.V show to me because I live in a house like that growing up as a child and working hard times , I watch the show most every day because it brings back memories , I don't live in the house in more , but I have visited it lately some has changed inside , but thank you sharing memories .

Hi Marina. I was a young boy in the 1970's and the Walton's was still on tv. It was one of the anchor shows we watched. My paternal grandparents home was the main homestead where the family gathered. It had to have been built in the 1930's, my father came along in the mid 1940's. (This was in New Britain, Connecticut) I know the house must have been old as a kid, because by the time I came along, there were modern appliances in the kitchen (fridge/stove.) We still used the old aluminum dinner table in the kitchen, (which seated 6) and the main dining room was only used for holidays, that sat 12. In the basement of the house were all the older generation appliances. The cast Iron stove with wood burner. The old, top loading washer with the attached roller for ringing. My grandmother had modern washer/dryer by that time. My grandmothers room had the sleigh bed and the family Cedar chest at the foot of the bed. The Walton's still have a cherished part in our hearts for those old days, when things were simpler, ( and most times, not that easy either). Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Absolutely your best video yet! Interesting that a house that's so old had an open floor plan which is so popular today. My whole family gathered together to watch this show. I miss shows like this one. If I do catch the Walton's these days, I stop whatever I'm doing and I watch it. Same with Little House On the Prairie. Thanks, Marina.

This was the floor plan from The Waltons built in the 1970s, but it’s not the floor plan from the Hamner family house in Schuyler, VA which does not have an open floor plan. There are similarities in the layout, but in reality it was a much smaller house.

I loved how you compared the love of the Walton's TV home to James Earl Jones' speech about the baseball field in Field of Dreams. My family loved the Waltons so much. We even said goodnight to each other the same way the tv family did. So the show became a part of our family. Back in the 1990's my family and I went to Schuyler VA to see the Waltons Mountain Museum. My mother and two of my aunts were practically in tears. They are all gone now and I am sitting here with misty eyes. I feel close to them whenever I watch an episode of The Waltons. Memories are indeed strong things. Thank you for a wonderful visit to a beloved home we all felt we lived in. I hope to one day go back to Schuyler and see the Hamner home and stay in John and Olivia's Bed and Breakfast, in the replica of the Walton's TV home. Also It was wonderful to hear Paul Hamner's memories of his childhood home.

I seem to recall there being a time prior to a plumbed sink of there being a hand pump somewhere in the kitchen. Now, having lived with a family on their homestead in the 80s, I thought this was genius. The well was outside where I lived, and the thought of having it inside was amazing.

Wow, this is so beautifully done. Kami Cotler, "Elizabeth" posted this link on her FB page. One thing I looked for but did not see in your tour was a ceramic parrot statue that sat on the pony wall next to the fireplace. On Kami's page someone asked about that parrot awhile ago and she said she had no idea why the Waltons would have had such an exotic decoration, I told her I imagined that Grandpa, who "Charged up San Juan hill with Teddy Roosevelt " or John, who was also in a war, WW1 may have brought it home as a souvenir. Kami said that was likely.

I loved the watching the Waltons as a kid. I also loved that house. There was always something so quaint, comforting, and satisfying about that place. I loved the fireplace, the woodwork, the built in cabinets, the different levels, and the wood stair banisters. It always seemed mysterious and fun.

What a brilliant contribution thank you so much for this tour. This TV show was pure magic. It gives us all a picture of how great life can be. I find it fascinating studying the spaces of tv homes. The use of stairs to add drama and interest to spaces. Also the use of 45 degree angles in the shape of rooms. I would never of thought the waltons house was shaped like this. With 45 degree angles. It is a shame we can’t build like that in reality. Buildings need to be orthogonal to be economically efficient to build. There is a lot in this that we can use in today’s architecture. Ie the front verandah. The size and shape of the eat in kitchen. The waltons house and this video are a big contribution to the essence of human spirit.

The Walton's we're a part of my childhood memories. Since Wednesdays were the only days that I never went to the babysitter. So Walton's, Brady Bunch, Mash and Happy Days were the shows I remember. MASH was My grandpa's favorite show,The Brady Bunch and Happy Days were my Aunt Brenda's favorite shows and the Walton's we're the favorite show of them both. So, when this channel came up to show a CG tour of these homes. It helps me to remember those days.

I love it! It is so light and airy. The paint colors, white trim , the traditional furniture, the white kitchen cabinets, vintage plumbing, and the beautiful back porch. That is a dream house!

This was well worth waiting for! I have the dvd collection with all 9 seasons and the Walton movies that were made after the show and now I want to rewatch them. I didn't know John Boy (Earl) didn't really have his own room. Seems poor John Boy was always having to give up his room for guests (like Corabeth when she first came) and he had to go sleep in the barn. I knew the parents' room and the girls room was the same set, and feel sorry for the crew people who had to move those heavy beds in and out! I think the door in the kitchen did lead to a panty but only once can I remember the door opening, in the episode "John's Crossroad" when Olivia came from there to the kitchen to sit with John. Thanks so much for recreating this lovely home for us. All your hard work is appreciated!

They didn't really show much. Just Olivia coming out from the room. I don't think you can see inside. But I can't think of anything else it could have been. Especially since they never used the door. 😄

@@alondralabute2310 Makes me wonder why the set designers put it there. Wish I could ask them. There is a door like that on I Love Lucy in her kitchen too. Never used. Never opened. I wonder why they put it in. And, it would have just led to the hallway.

Thank you for this. I grew up watching the Waltons. I think the charm of the home was the togetherness of the multi-generational family residing together in a simple Victorian farmhouse with all its nooks and crannies. Their hard times of depression and war was our best of times. Family.

My wife and I just toured the John & Olivia Bed and Breakfast recreation of the house in Schuyler, Virginia. We enjoyed how true it was to the set we saw on our television screen. We toured the Hamner house next door, and the Walton Museum directly across the street. The model featured in your video is perfect. Thank you for sharing it!

I grew up watching The Waltons. I, not too long ago, reconnected with a good friend I had when the show aired. She told me that I wouldn't do anything with her during the show time. I wouldnt go anywhere, talk on the phone or hang out with friends. I'd completely forgotten about that. I be!ieved her, becuse I loved the show so much, and wouldn't miss an episode.

I was recently watching a Judy Norton video on the eating scenes of the Waltons and she mentioned that the "Mystery" door in the kitchen which was assumed by many to be a pantry was in reality a real working kitchen for the food used in eating scenes.

She does 2 videos a week and shares with her viewers her memories of filming The Waltons and behind the scenes of the show all while focusing on 1 episode per video. 😀

Magnificent, Marina! I watched all of this series just recently on DVD. It's great to get a proper perspective of how everything was in that house. This must have taken you a while! Love the little touches -- like the pool of light in the parents' room.

Thanks for such a warm and lovely video. I was so inspired by this TV house when I was a kid that I searched out some antiques years later that reminded me of some pieces from the Walton home. There's a carved-leg table near the front door and on it is an angular lamp with boxy yellow glass shade. Yeah, got those. Mary Ellen's old wrought iron bed with the curved top and narrow spindles--I've slept in one of those every night for years now. Found that on a junk pile at a flea market, and they sold the rusty old thing to me for next to nothing; it was my joy to fix it up. I even have a reproduction oak ice box, among other bits and pieces. That stuff just makes a home feel like a home.
