On November 17th, 2022 the Hollywood Museum celebrated the 50th anniversary of The Waltons. This special event included a historic Q&A with several cast members and a new exhibit with artifacts from the show. The Q&A was moderated by film historian Leonard Maltin. All surviving cast members were there in person except for Jon Walmsley, Mary Beth McDonough and David Harper.
Jon Walmsley (Jason Walton) connected via Zoom. Unfortunately, there was a bad internet connection and his monitor was blocked.
Mary Beth McDonough (Erin Walton) sent in a video that is not included. She told the story of how the wardrobe department couldn’t find the right dress for her character's wedding on the show. She ended up wearing her mother's wedding dress, after suggesting it. For Mary Beth, that made it special. The dress is in the exhibit and can be seen in this video.
David Harper (Jim-Bob Walton) was advertised to be there via video, but there was a technical issue.
There were many actors from the 1970’s in the audience including Christopher Knight (Peter Brady), Susan Olsen (Cindy Brady) and Anson Williams (Potsie Weber). Click on the link below for a complete description:

I feel like "the Walton's" should be considered not just a fine example of what Hollywood can do for television, but also an historical landmark of what kind of families the greatest generation soldiers came from.

@@rossbrowning5201 U R right! The Walton's in the 1970's were definitely the exception. It was a show that portrayed what was best about family, friends, the Depression, and basically history. And brought families together at the end of the day in order to watch it. And sometimes talk about it during the commercials.

Thank you Eric, Richard, Michael , Judy, Kami & the rest of the Waltons cast.

I'm now 61 and watched the Waltons with my parents each week when it aired in the 1970s. My parents were older when I was born--my mother almost 41 and my father 46. They lived through the Great Depression in rural N.C. and were transfixed by each episode. I liked this show too, and I appreciate the memories I have of watching it with them. This show and others like it helped instill in young people a moral sensibility and a strength of character. This show and its characters were not only entertaining and inspirational, but they were instructional, as were many other family series of this ilk (Little House on the Prairie, Good Times, The Cosby Show, Gunsmoke). Thanks for posting this video and bringing together the cast for a reunion.

52 here, my dad was 51 when I was born, and my mom 44 years of age, my parents lived through the great depression, my dad was a WW2 combat veteran - north African campaign . I still watch this show on METV every day, it reminds me of my parents and how much I wish I could have lived then.... even as hard as it was back then, I'd take that over these days if I could. I have my own and now grown children . I raised them on shows such as this one. always nice to hear of another 'change of life' kid such as myself. I adored them and just about everyone of the ' greatest generation' they were wonderful people. I'm glad that shows such as this are still on television these days if some of the kids nowadays would watch them and hopefully try to emulate life from back then. BTW when I turned 51 I thought of my dad often and wondered how he was able to manage having a baby in the house ( my mom too) but they took it in stride - just like they had done all of their lives. God Bless You!

My favorite episode was when a cousin from a remote mountain area stopped by their home. He spoke in almost colonial English and told them that a University scholar had researched the trees and other plants he had. It reminded me of those times when glens and special groves had native plants and people had beautiful accents and language. How I loved to hear the stories my grandparents told us of times before World War 2. Thank you for the Waltons. I grew up with The Waltons and love it to this day. I will say that a lot of the magic of the series was lost after the departure of Richard Thomas and Michael Learned and the death of Will Geer

Thank God because it was a way of coping with my childhood trauma, PTSD and depression. I use to pretend that I was a Walton. I had a great grandparents and family members who helped me along the way.

My family were much like the Walton's with the same ethos. When I here that music the hairs on my neck stand up. In a good way. The show taught us much about family and how we should treat each other kindly. The scenery was stunning and again we learnt a great deal about nature. I thank all the cast and crew for giving us such great memories and including us in their lives. God bless you all and keep you well.

If I was on the verge of tears or crying when my kids came home from school they would say " You've been watching the Waltons haven't you " lol Every episode made me feel like I was on an emotional rollercoaster.

My wife and I love the Walton's. Recently we watched the episode when Grandma came home after having a stroke. Grandpa was so happy to finally have her home and we were happy to see them together again. Then the next episode we hear that Grandpa Will Geer had died during the filming break. We had forgotten and had to take a break ourselves.

This is absolutely the very best holiday gift I could have received this year! My favorite TV show of all times. I was 9 years old when The Waltons started and I never missed an episode. They were very much like my own family, the family I wanted but didn't have. I Thank them from the bottom of my heart. Happy Holidays Everyone!

These cast members are so gracious and kind. I love watching the youtube videos by Judy and following Kami, Mary and Eric who share their own lives and families with us so generously. I am a forever fan. By the way, I sure hope the Hamner house continues to be open to the public.

How enjoyable to watch! I'm 52 - my family watched every week. I has a card board Walton's house...a little old car...& maybe a doll or two. Mostly, I remember crying BIG tears when the house burned down!

Still remember seeing the Homecoming,as a kid.Was disappointed that the parents, and Grampa was going to be different,in the series. And yet, really the new characters added their own "special take" on the whole show. And you ended up forgetting entirely about the original ones(altho' they were professionals in their own right)...Thanks for teaching us what love and dignity, and caring really mean...Even after all these years! ♡

I love this so much. ❤ My grandchildren are accomplished on the violin and are fiddlers. They have learned by ear the theme song to “The Waltons” and play it for me often. We live on the same property with them. Often 7 year old Trevor walks over in the afternoon. He know it’s a good chance we will be watching The Walton’s. He’s learned all kinds of new words, heathen, sermon, and many things about the depression. Thank you all a million times over.

I loved this show. The series reruns are currently being aired on Vision TV (again) here in Ontario, Canada and am loving re watching (saw the originals as a child) and even seeing episodes that I don't recall. It's also great seeing other (guest) actors appearing on episodes(as John Ritter, Todd Bridges, Ron Howard etc.) before they became more well known in later years!

That was Great. Even the ones that were there in Spirit. I so happy to see this interview and seeing everyone is doing well. I get really emotional seeing everyone together and the show because I thought it would be so nice to live during that time even as hard as it was during that time. I get so involved in the story of The Waltons You just can't help it. Thank again for sharing the 50th Anniversary. And tell everyone please how much I have enjoyed The Waltons through out the years. You made me happy, God Bless Each and Everyone One of You. Love Patricia Ann Griggs

Everyone moves on, but The Waltons are always a pleasure to hear about, remember and yes, revisit. Mary Ellen was my favorite character, and I related to her so well as the eldest daughter of a large family but each one held a special place in our home. Thanks to them all for their great performances.
