Bockwinkel is a wrestler, unlike the fruit loop bullshit today! He didnt pose, scream, swear, and act stupid like what you see now in WWE. He was the Albert Einstein of wrestling! Legend!

When the first issue went to press, Nick Bockwinkel was the American Wrestling Association (AWA) World Heavyweight Champion. He was also ranked at #6 in the Most Hated Wrestler category.

Nick could have been wwf and nwa world champion he was that good, didn't want the travel being nwa champ , would have being great as wwf champ instead of Backland . Every Sunday in Chicago back in the 80s on channel 26 these 2 guys always started trouble.... And they were very good at it. WWE have your bookers and heels study videos on bockwinkel and heenan! They knew how to draw heat!

@@josephcebelinski1968 What shocked me about Bob Luce was that he was never the promoter in Chicago in real life. He was hired to get publicity on tv for the wrestlers for their upcoming matches. Bruiser, Snyder and Gagne hired him as a front. Bob was let go from his duties in 1983 and put on his own show (to ch 26 from ch 44) for 30 minutes. I heard from good sources that he was a very bitter man for being let go by the big three.

Bockwinkle and Heenan were two smart and classy guys who played well off each other. Bockwinkle spoke more like an executive than a wrestler. Compare a Bockwinkle promo with a Hogan promo. Hogan's are the same and bland while Bockwinkle's are entertaining. And Heenan was a comedic genius with his one-liners and quips. Wrestling has never been the same without them.

Bockwinkel had to be one of the few that could make Heenan, one of the greatest promo men in this business, come across as a sputtering lackey. Those two were positively golden.
