What I loved is that it's not a sad story. You see, Bill and Frank lived their lives to the full, they literally grew old together and walked away together. I cried (and still cry), but in this moment (calmer now) I realize it wasn't sad at all, it was touching and memorable in a way. Whenever I look at or eat a strawberry I will remember Bill and Frank and the simplicity of their love.🍓❤️

@@joseguarin115 i’d argue the game Leaves Bill on a sad note and a bitter lesson for Joel to learn from Bill (though dumping on one another might have been Bill and Frank’s genuine love language 😉)… given what’s coming dramatically in the story, a less horrible end to Bill’s love story fits nicely in Joel and Ellie’s journey; their stop at Bill’s town in the game was a thrilling action set piece, punctuated by digging past all Bill’s traps and defenses and symbols of his scars and misanthropy to find a vulnerability and a consequence for all his misanthropy… the uplifting lesson Joel learns in the show is what ends his tantrum over Tess and he starts to open himself up to Ellie I don’t think it’s better, but it fits better when the story isn’t gameplay driven… it’s good, and choosing to do it this way, while not without sacrifice, was a smart adaptation choice

From acting all nervous and awkward at the beginning to being comfortable with each other in their old age. The audience got pulled along a span of 16 years but in reality all this character development happened in a couple of scenes. The acting, the music, the cinematography and the editing, every little detail made this episode what it is. We witnessed top-tier professionals and artists at work, in one episode. @coreyaruecker
@coreyaruecker Жыл бұрын
There is beauty there, but I honestly wonder how many people making comments like this, lack empathy. Bill was broken. When he finds out it’s the end for Frank, he’s not living in a moment of beauty. The way they would have went, wouldn’t have been 100% painless either. This episode is a tragedy. There in, of course, you will find some beauty. But the idea that this isn’t sad in any way and is simply beautiful means you haven’t put yourselves in the characters shoes. Losing loved ones, having your break down to the point of losing quality of life. These are not beautiful experiences. They are tragic
@CommanderLongJohn
@CommanderLongJohn Жыл бұрын
Yeah nothing more beautiful than seeing two hairy-bearded-middle aged men kissing and caressing each other in bed 😭 It was *fairly* well written and admittedly pretty sad, but it was just an unnecessary departure from the video game (especially since B&F weren't originally written in a romantic sense), the 'homosexual stereotypes' were pretty cringe inducing too; i.e. all gay men know what wine to pair with rabbit, all gay mem play the same kind of piano music, and they also drop pants within a few hours or less of meeting one another (even the anti-social survivalists living in isolation for years on end) 🥴.

@@CommanderLongJohn it wasn't unnecessary, as a player, that was the best episode yet, departures are welcome, i would be bored if it was a 1-1 adaptation, i like what they add and knowing B&F past was so cool, and the way they flipped Bill's meaning to Joel was pretty clever, i loved this episode
@CommanderLongJohn
@CommanderLongJohn Жыл бұрын
@Isaac Mendes Departing from the game isn't inherently unecessary, what is unnecessary is taking 45min to focus Bill's (for the sake of argument) "implied" sexuality rather than going the adrenaline pumping-narratively compelling-route the video game went at this section in the story. I enjoyed seeing Bill make his town, I wouldn't have minded seeing Frank and his 'relationship' fleshed out to a degree, but by and large the departures were unecessary and having Bill kill himself like that was disappointing.

Although to be fair, there wasn't much by way of changes to the canon. The biggest change was that they were POV characters instead of their relationship being told through exposition and notes, but that's not really a change in story. Just a change in emphasis. As far as plot changes, it's definitely a happier ending, since in the game they had a falling out before Frank kills himself, and his suicide note is pretty brutal towards Bill. But for the most part, this honored the source material.
@GreatOldOne9866
@GreatOldOne9866 Жыл бұрын
@@eliteteamkiller319 was actually a disgrace to the source material. This isn’t Bill. A hardcore survivalist in a monster and raider infested world who sets up traps and electric fences doesn’t fall in love with a complete stranger on the first day and then have cringe romance over a bunch of time jumps that span twenty years. Plus, Bill standing out in the open while raiders attack his home. Seriously? That was completely idiotic and not like Bill, not even realistic for someone trying to SURVIVE! This episode was poorly written, cringey, gag inducing, boring, forced. They deliberately reeled us in with two brilliant first episodes, only to shove Woke agenda into our faces and call us homophobic bigots for not putting up with it and calling it out with valid criticisms. Their episode crushed me. I wasn't expecting it to be as much of a deviation from the video game as it was, but wow it was so good. I think excellent narrative choices were made for this episode, and the actors nailed it.

I was diagnosed with MS last year and my health has really declined over the last few years. I watched that eps while in the middle of a relapse and the last part of the story just destroyed me. Watching Frank struggling to paint, Bill cutting his food, counting out his meds, helping him with his wheelchair, it’s all stuff my partner does for me. I haven’t cried like that in years. I have a pretty dark sense of humour related to my illness, I’d rather laugh than cry about it, but that just took my knees out from under me. It captured the unconditional love and support I have from my partner and made me believe that we might be ok.

I never expected to cry so much at the bill and franks love story. It was both a happy tears for the love they shared and the most woeful ugly face tears for them dying the way they did. It was horrible but at the same time so romantic that bill chose to die with the one he loved. The way he said that Frank was his purpose. I just can’t describe how that made me feel. ❤😢
