Whites often does sort of a Veldtschoen thing, where it combines stitchdown and a welt....it’s cool for water resistance but does add bulk to the aesthetic. I like it, but it definitely can look messier to some for sure.....and yes, 55 last from Whites and Nicks is literally the exact same last.....that Horween Color 8 CXL is combo tanned: so they chrome tan it, then go back and re-tan it as veg tan after that. That’s what makes it such an amazing and rich leather! Beautiful! It’s literally like 50% fats/waxes/oils by the time it’s done being tanned🤣

I ordered my Nick’s after watching Jimmy Diresta videos and seeing how beautiful they are. I’m working on a stealth camper build and needed a great pair of boots. I’ve thrown away so much money on Amazon getting what I thought were gonna be good boots but they weren’t exactly what I was looking for. Nick’s is awesome they will email you to see how you like them so far and you can get in contact with them even give them a call. They 💯. 💃🏾👏🏾

I believe Whites was acquired by a Japanese company....the Japanese are passionate about American heritage styles...Japan is the epicenter for top quality jeans, acquiring looms that were once used in the US, and it was Japan that revived the demand for the Iron Ranger.
@NoblemansXchange3 жыл бұрын
I said Chinese. Big difference and error on my part. Thank you for clarifying, John!!! ✨🙏🏽✨
@JimKiralfy3 жыл бұрын
Indeed, the Japanese didn't just revive the demand for the Iron Ranger, they designed it in the first place: www.redwingshoes.com/heritage-stories/stories-aki-iwasaki.html
@johnwen88103 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are right! But in designing the Iron Ranger, Aki sought to recapture the character and spirit of the original work boot worn by miners...it is this "authenticity" that makes the heritage line "Heritage."

Whites boots got bought out by lacrosse footwear in 2014, who also owns danners. The parent company is abc mart in Japan. Hands off approach, but now whites boots has money to do what they want.

I’ve got an Italian Mastiff, 135 lbs. He rarely barks, only stands like a sentry at the front door and will not let you pass, period. Only if he knows you, you’re in the fold or I or my wife lets you in will he allow you to pass. Therin is the difference between an attack dog and a guard dog. Really like ur boots. I have a pair of 8” JK’s urban logger style with Vibram mini lug soles on their way. With waxed flesh finish too. Love that finish, as I have it on my heavy all leather mountaineering boots that are indestructible.

I just ordered a pair of the Roberts in 1964 brown a couple weeks ago. I can’t for them to get here. I know it’s a long wait but I’m really excited to have some arch support and custom boots!
@alexanderlevesque26943 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure Nick's custom boots got bought by a private owner, Steve Mowe, in 2013 and had their name changed to Nick's Handmade boots. And then in 2016, Frank Petrelli, the general manager of Nick's left and started Frank's boots.
@georgecarlin28793 жыл бұрын
Right and apparently, Frank Petrelli took about 32 of the most experienced workers with him over to Franks. So, I'll most prob be getting Franks version of the ULs when I do order.

@@georgecarlin2879 I have 3 pairs of whites, and my newest pair is Frank's. Needless to say when the whites need a rebuild or resole they will be going to Frank's. He nailed the fit spot on

@philcoletta30623 жыл бұрын
@@georgecarlin2879 I dont think that is true. there's a lot of misinformation going around. Nicks makes a great pair of boot, so does frank but I would not say that any boot out there is better than Nicks

White's welt should be taken as it is. Whites in the "whites" line use a handwelted Norwegian construction, unique among the PNW manufacturers. This gives flexibility and some other interesting things, like a no-glue assembly between the lining and the leather of the upper for breathability, or a completely unlined boots. The same construction as Nicks and Wesco, Whites use in their "inexpensive" Hathorn line. You can buy it for $ 360 with a discount on Father's Day or Black Friday. Previously, Nicks also used handwelted Norwegian construction in all of their top line boots (as a Contender), but from a certain point it became an option on request (+ $ 100), and after Frank left the Nicks, they removed all references to this construction from their website.

Good vid. I own two pair of White's one pair of Nicks and one pair of JK boots. I really like a handmade pair of boots and it's hard to beat the durability, comfort and longterm value that these boots offer. I'm about ready to send out my brown 8" logger for a resole. I think I'm going to go with the honey Vibram sole as it looks good on ur boots. Is the wax impregnated into the leather on ur boots or does it sit on the surface only?

When you purchased the Robert did you size down a half size for the 55 arch .. or was your Nick’s size the same as the moderate arch on your urban loggers?

Can you compare/contrast the build quality/robustness of Nicks Boots (as best you can) to the other handmade boot builders? (Whites - Viberg - Wesco & a few others) I have a few pairs of Whites & Vibeg boots & consider them of similar build robustness. & I know they are built way better than most. I was just curious as the Nicks Boots "appear" (from videos) to be built just a bit more robust in many ways than the other handmade boots as don't really know I have not seen a pair of Nicks in the flesh.

I ordered 1/2 size smaller than I measured, and it worked out great. Measured 11, ordered nicks in 10.5.

it's my understanding that the robert and the urban logger both are built on the 55 arch. it appears the difference with your boots is the heel stack on the robert is 3/4" and the logger is 3/8"
@NoblemansXchange2 жыл бұрын
You are correct about the heel height but they are both built on both lasts which you can choose when ordering. 👍🏽⚡️👊🏽

Nobleman's Xchange ok. I gave you a like brother! I sure hope you pronounced it "Scaa-pooose". And btw, the Whites you have there are a beautiful makeup.
