One word named bars are easy to remember; and to forget; "WHAT'S THE NAME OF THAT PLACE? IT'S LIKE "ANVIL", OR "FORGE" OR SOMETHING...". Growing up in the 80s, all the bars i went to were two words; El Goya, Parliament House, Bridge Club, The Jungle, Old Plantation, and 100 more. But now that I think about it, there were just as many with one word names, too...

Thank you for this video, Nick--I am always entertained by you, but I also learn from you! ;) I have always wondered what Hell's Kitchen is all about...I knew it was (historically) an Irish neighborhood, but while I was in New York, I didn't really explore it properly...though, it's also possible that I was there and just didn't know it at the time.

My old neighborhood from 78 to 94! 9th ave was no-mans land in those days, but the only place where I remember prostitutes….er, sex workers was around the Haymarket over on 8th ave, a “rough trade” bar. Amazing to experience the gay commercial community that has evolved there since I moved further uptown. - 🙏 We do make everything more fun, don’t we?

As a HK regular (and a NYC native), some thoughts! LOL 1. Atlas is actually my regular haunt! I like the bartenders, so I just drink at the bar alone normally. 2. Posh was the bar's original name before Flex. Splash was in Chelsea and had become a printing business. 3. Vers has a dark room?!? Since when?!? LOL (Then again, I've only been twice and the drinks are too expensive.) 4. I swear you missed the two bars on 46th Street (Ritz - my other regular haunt and 9th Avenue Saloon). 5. Based on what I've heard from friends, Balcon Salon is pronounced "bahl-cone." 6. They REALLY thought they were slick with that pizza price change and the ".50" in small letters...and please drag Eric Adams again. That man is terrible. 7. Gotta agree with you on Boxers because I SWEAR they just keep opening locations (they had one in Philly at some point!). 8. If I remember correctly, that T-Rex is from the antique shop on the block, so you only see it during the day. LOL ...and yeah, that's it. LOL

Ilived at W. 51st & 8th Ave 1989-1990. The prostitutes just walked around 9th & 10th Aves in full regalia. The Italian mob ran a lot of the businesses and it was pretty dangerous. I saw people get mugged in ATM areas & drug deals happen on the street. What you're showing is completely cleaned up! It blows me away. I last visited that area 2007 when I left NYC.
