I honestly don't think many people actually hate NIckleback. It's one of the things people just piggybacked on for the memes. Their first album Silver Side Up was massive.

I'm a Nickelback fan and can answer this. They are not that great unfortunately when it comes to marketing. Nickelback gained traction with songs such as How You Remind Me which are rather heavy and loud sounding, however in later albums they started reducing the amount of heavier music tracks they were releasing with ballads and love songs in a effort to gain a more adverse variety of fans. The problem is those who were into them got the impression they got soft. Had they marketed certain songs that never went to radio they may have gained more fan base and kept the ones they had around. It's thier marketing formula that let them down, Someday, Faraway Savin Me, Gotta be Somebody, I'd come for you while all those are great they are love ballads and they were pushed out every album which made people think Nickelback was trying to appeal to teenage girls as their target audience (as they often were the ones who often bought CD's) so people started mocking them and critiquing them for it. Had Nickelback kept releasing their heavier sounding tracks they would have avoided this

I just commented on a post further up. Nickelback did this to themselves because they didn't market properly. Bust out enough love ballads to radio continually and they were bound to lose their original target audience. You are right, Nickelback has always had heavy sounding tracks on their albums but when they continued to market the rock ballads and love songs as promo material instead of the heavier tracks that never made it out off the album then it's natural people are not going to buy. Think of it as a showroom selling muscle cars then the owners decide to market to family orientated people and start selling family type vehicles, they put more family cars in the show room with only one or 2 muscle cars. They still sell muscle cars but because they have more family cars in the showroom people decide not to check what's in the lot. Same thing with Nickelback. They reduced the amount of heavier tracks they released so people thought they had gone and went in a new direction so didn't bother to check what else they had on the album.

I mean to be fair the singles that they choose to release are very normie centric, they hide all of their heavier stuff in the actual albums so if you are not a fan of the single style music why would anyone buy the whole album. They really need to do a better job at mixing it up in terms of what to release as a single. Most people were surprised how heavy they could be when they released san quinten

@@DarkestVoidDark Horse was ok, wasn't as good as Fight For all the Right Reasons but enjoyable. Sadly the next album after Dark Horse, Here and Now started to decline. No Fixed Address was garbage (Get em Up and The Hammer's Comin down are the exceptions). Feed the Machine actually wasn't too bad especially with the track of the same name along with The Betrayal Act III and Coin for the ferryman. I thought they might finally be on track for a comeback but Sadly the newest Album Get Rollin was a complete dud as well with only San Quentin worth listening too

The song "Side of a bullet" is a tribute to Dimebag Darrell after he got murdered on the stage. Short story on; Nickelback asked Vinnie Paul (Dimebag's brother) for permission, and he gave them a guitar solo recorded by his brother, one of the many that didn't get to the Pantera albums... that's the solo you heard.

If every band are the same what you are wanted. The world be boring. Different genres different people in the world and different taste of music. I am a metalhead and i really love heavy music like BDM but i never criticize some other genres. If you dont like skip it,if you stay in what you like. Thats boring. I love all genres so that i can appreciate the music taste of different peoples and friends and sharing each other. i started to love the music on FM radio station of the 90’s,different music. Thats why i never hate different genres because i started on FM station.

Nickelback, Creed, and Puddle Of Mudd are the triforce of overhated Post-Grunge bands. They were never as bad as people said they were, But they all got flack for being the most overplayed (That, And their vocalists are an acquired taste). And as far as this specific album is concerned, It's not really my thing but it's got some good songs. I consider Rockstar a guilty pleasure.

Nickelback and Creed both have their fair share of riffs and solos, and competent musicianship no matter how Tramp Stampy or Ned Flanders they get. The same cannot be said for Puddle of Shitt.
@PuddleOfPizza
@PuddleOfPizza 10 ай бұрын
@@Xeroforte I'd respectfully disagree. I don't think they're an amazing band by any means, But those first three albums have solid musicianship across the board. It's really just everything after where things went to shit, Cause Wes' image/vocal range went to shit and started to effect the quality of the music itself. But in their prime I'd say P.O.M was on the same level, And even now I'd still take their worst over what Theory of a Deadman has to offer.

@@GroinStrain_ The thing with Wes is that he can still sing, But not in the same range as before. That Nirvana cover shitshow could've been avoided if he downtuned the song and sang with less rasp in his voice. But he made that choice deliberately, He does the same at shows as well.

You did hit the nail on the head with Photograph. It’s all a bit too noisy for a song where someone’s just reminiscing about their childhood and what happened. And it is absolutely cheesy, and the official music video is just as goofy. But I think it’s actually a fan favorite because of the delivery, Chad sticks the landing on this sincere moment of daydreaming about the past while flipping through your photo album or school pictures. And it truly is a “one size fits all” song, they made it pretty vague so that just about everybody can slip into the character Chad’s describing. What can I say, humans are suckers for nostalgia. Nickelback is…. Well they’re not some sort of masterclass group that puts everyone to shame. They’re mainly a hard rock radio band. Songs repetitive enough to be singing along by the time the last chorus comes on your first listen. But also not so cookie cutter that they lose their charm. They have some truly solid musical talent and can show it effortlessly. Their cover of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” is phenomenal. But yeah, I’d say when Nickelback comes on, it’s a fun experience to sing along with songs we all grew up with and not think too much about it.

"Sounds like a preview for the next episode of Dawson's Creek" 🤣🤣🤣 My only problem with Nickelback is that they sound remarkably formulaic except for a handful of songs. I feel like they're all in the same key. I really like Animals and Rockstar, and Photograph isn't bad. But that's about it for me. They're not terrible, and I agree they are heavier than they're given credit for. I just wish the majority of their songs didn't sound so darn similar.

Just found your channel. You were very brave critiquing a band widely slammed on. I'm happy that you found some of their songs enjoyable. I can tell you enjoyed the heavier type stuff. For me I like the ballads and some of the slower songs but I like the heavier stuff more too. If your interested check these out, you won't be disappointed. Next go Round. Because of you. This means War. Gotta Get me Some. Feed the Machine. The Betrayal Act III. Bottoms Up. S.E.X Also I think the reason Nickelback are so hated is that they put out alot of generic sounding songs like ballads and love songs which are more radio friendly, had they released more heavier sounding tracks they would have come across more appealing. Sadly because they never released certain songs (such as Fight for All the wrong Reasons), alot of their best work stay on the album undiscovered. I've always said it, Nickelback came undone because they were not releasing the right tracks to promote the albums.

I'm no fan but Nickelback has some bangers. Nickelback jokes, at this point, are the Nickelback of jokes. Their biggest problem was always the overplay factor, they had so many hits one after the other that followed a similar formula that anyone dumb enough to listen to the radio had to sit through what essentially sounded like a bunch of different versions of "Photograph" One thing I really like about this album is Side Of The Bullet. It was written about Nathan Gale who killed Dimebag, the solo is actually one of Dimebag's solos and Vinnie was gonna drum on it but he thought their drummer did a perfect enough job on it. Other than that, its a pretty alright album, I skew heavier usually but there's nothing wrong with the odd song here and there.

Man, as someone who grew up on metal, I've never understood why people hate Nickleback so much. They're so much harder than they get credit for, probably because the biggest hits are their ballads, which are more radio-friendly (back when that was actually a factor). Try Silver Side Up next, if you want to do more.

Nickelback hate is embarrassing. It's for insecure weirdos who want to fit in and be on the trends. There's nothing objectively wrong with their music, they have like 5 hits that everyone likes even if they pretend not to and the rest is just some filler. The worst you can say about the band is that if a song isn't a hit then it's just not worth listening to, there are no hidden Nickelback gems. The best you can say about Nickelback is that they made the best capeshit song for Spiderman, that song is amazing.

"This is too heavy for Nickelback" haha yeah, it surprised me when that whole Nickelback hate trend started and everyone was making fun of Nickelback until I realized it was just bc their softer songs were so overplayed on the radio that people got sick of them. Put on one of their heavier tracks though and suddenly people realize they don't really hate Nickelback. Well, I guess those stories about the singer being a bit of a dick that started going around didn't really help either, though.

I argue that they did change their sound, unfortunately the new sound finished them off. They released a disco sounding track (She Keeps me up [No Fixed Address]) which didn't work at all. A very catchy song but a annoying catchy song at that and awful (it not long ago found traction in TikToc videos lol) on the same album they released Get em Up which is a country sounding song which honestly was pretty good. They changed their sound again big time in Get Rollin but that's a massive mistake it changed Soo much it doesn't sound like them at all.
