The death of "Saved by the Bell" alumni Dustin Diamond at age 44 has come as a shock to fans. He was diagnosed just three weeks ago and his death was unexpected after going through sessions of chemotherapy.
There haven’t been any reports about what his former "Saved by The Bell" cast mates have said of their former collogue's death, but Mario Lopez -- who played A.C. Slater on the hit show -- did reach out to Diamond when he was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.

Mario Lopez has my respect! He just looks like a genuine guy. He didn’t let ugliness take over his good character. Good for him! Thanks for being with our Dustin, even when he wasn’t sick and while everyone else deserted him. I’m sure he appreciated knowing you still cared about him. I have the highest respect for Mario, Dustin helped make SBTB successful, it became a stepping stone for all the actor's careers except Diamond, who was brutally typecast, he struggled the most Without him the show wouldn't have worked and none of the actor's would have the same recognition they do now IMHO Mario was a true friend, that's hard to find these days, RIP Dustin Diamond 🙏

I NEVER liked how he was treated on and off the show. He was the youngest and a bit out of place on the show, and off the show there was a bit of life imitating art. Bless his soul and I pray that he now has the peace, respect, and dignity that he always deserved!

I agree 💯 Save By The Bell wouldn’t have worked if it wasn’t from Dustin Diamond, but he was treated so unfairly by so many, breaks my heart. Thanks to “ Slater “ for being so kind to him and staying in contact with him over the years. Shows you have a big heart and you actually cared. ♥️

It's a shame that Lopez was the only cast member from SBTB who cared about Dustin, even after Dustin's book came out. The others let their poor judgment of Dustin take over, now if they have any regrets, they can't take any of it back. Good for Mario for keeping that connection with Dustin.

Mario, Lark showed Love and cared. The rest of the cast didn’t talk to him since’94’! Then Michael said we didn’t know he had cancer until 4 weeks ago ( well Diamond didn’t tell people he didn’t want people to know ) and then he passed so quickly. If you preppies would have paid attention to him and LARK, ( oh why was that? Because of a book that never mattered to anything and Lark has bio polar illness? Huh 🤔 The rest are so perfect and beautiful ! Mario and Lark have my respect ✊🏻

Just curious if mario was so close to dustin and kept in touch with him for many years , why then couldnt he have helped dustin out with his mortgage on his house a few years back when dustin was going bankrupt not that mario is obligated in anyway but considering mario has well over 20 million dollars, loaning dustin 250 thousand dollars would have been peanuts because honestly it's not when things are going great but when you have nothing is when you find out who your true freinds are

I think you guys are mis-calculating Dustin’s age because he was born in 1977 which is 3 years younger than Mark. The College Years series ran from 1993-1994 and the Wedding movie was later in 1994 which would make Dustin 17 years old max and taping could’ve been done before making him 16 years old.
