Take a close up look and flight in one of my all time favorite aircraft the EC120B Colibri/Hummingbird, the sports car of helicopters. Priced at $1.8 million new they are not for everyone.

FINALLY, a pilot that looks for traffic effectively. I don’t know how many of these aviation videos I’ve watched where a good scan isn’t employed. Hat’s off to Stuntman. (BTW, I’m an ATP in helo’s with 30+ years flying in the NE corridor.)

Very sweet! People think they're cool for driving a supercar, but to pilot something that's 1.8 million and keep it from falling out of the sky puts you on a whole 'nother level Nick! Haha keep it up!

This is a beauty!!!! And the sound is just no equal. The design and technology! I came to the US in the intention of learning English and get a Helicopter license. I did pretty well on the first goal but never got close to even start the second. I guess that's going to be for the next life. I got to fly alongside a great Pilot in Brazil back in the late 80's in an Ecureuil AS350 B2 HB. He did great maneuvers that would probably not be allowed here in the states and I was delighted!! Great video, Nick

It is not the stators that have asymmetrical spacing. The blades have asymmetrical spacing for noise abatement. Positioning them with such spacing broadens the frequency spectrum of the noise signature and decreases the apparent noise from the fan. The stators do little to nothing in terms of noise abatement.

I've become a huge aviation enthusiast thanks to Nick Murray introducing me via these helicopter reviews! Nick I'd like to see you fly those mini 2 stroke piston engine powered helicopters, I am curious to see how different powertrains influence the flight characteristics. That and of course as I'm starting out: smaller=cheaper=more easy to wrap my head around flying/owning one someday, Thanks Nick!

Flying a helicopter is always about the laws of physics, and understanding those of rotorwing physics instinctively. The more power available, the less likelihood, of overstepping a critical limit and ending up a catastrophe. Just because this pilot John, doesn't explain it all as a ground school imstructor might, he still understands it intuitively. He's a great pilot, like a great skier or Ski Patrol person, who can ski backwards as well as forward. And helicopters ARE sking in 3 dimensions instead of two. Superfast sense/response mind processing capability required. The power to weight and rotor disk response ratios are critical. No wonder the BO-105 is actually an aerobatic ship in the right hands.

So I usually don't comment on things, KZfaq or otherwise, because there are so many ignorant comments to follow and it gets annoying. Also, I can't stand it when someone such as yourself does their best to put together a good video and then all people do is comment with criticisms and try to tout their own knowledge. Which is usually ignorant like I said before. So, first, I want to thank you for these videos. It's obvious you put much time, effort, and money into them. As a helo pilot myself, I enjoy watching them. Since I obviously haven't flown every helo in the world, I like to learn the handling and limitations of different types of rotocraft. So again, thank you for the effort. If you don't mind me offering a bit of FRIENDLY advice just to make the videos all the better, a couple little things...First is the audio. And I'm sure you're already aware! For some out there that have no idea what's being talked about in the first place, perhaps they don't care what is being said. It's Greek anyway! The video alone is friggin cool. But that is the most important part for me. Procedures and limitations is why I'm watching, and I couldn't hear half of what the pilot was explaining. Second, and again I don't say this being mean, you say "Yup" and "right" too much. When you ask a question, or the pilot is explaining something, and you say "yup" over and over, it's as if you already knew and you were quizzing him. And perhaps you did know some of it, but even when the info is a/c specific you say it. It takes away from the 'something learned' aspect. There were times when he started to explain something, and instead of responding with something to have him elaborate a bit, you say "yup" and it's over. "Ok", in my opinion, would be a bit better for a short response. But countering with a confirming statement, or better yet, a question, would help the video to be even more informative. But again, I don't say any of this negatively! I appreciate what you are doing! Keep it up!

I think he is saying yup, as in "Yup, I hear and understand" versus "Yup, you are right(I already knew)" Same as others may say ok, got it, alright, or make a positive sound of some sort. I don't do it all the time myself but sometimes I do and have come across others that do the same. It is like hearing someone talking on the phone and hearing them saying something so the other person knows they are listening. Some people even ask if you can hear them or are still there, if you don't acknowledge them now and again.

Turn down the interphone volume on the station they are recording. They are over driving its amp or the amp in the recording gear. Guessing he just didn't notice it clipping as he recorded it. Plus it is hard to get around mics, right by lips, picking up the "pttth" wind sound, as people sound out the letter "P" in words. Sounds like a shot gun without a spit blocker.

As a heli nerd I would be interested to hear about the rotor heads in your reviews. A little about why a 2 blade is so deadly in negative G where the newer models are not. How they use titanium and composites in the newer models. I realize you can't get to detailed. But it's pretty interesting how much safer the newer birds are, and why.

Nice to see this model has the fuel shut off moved to the ceiling. Previous models had it on the center floor and it's been the cause of problems. Just recently it's believed to have been pulled by accident by a passenger camera bag or similar and caused a crash into the water during a NYC photo tour.

Your comparison of the 120 to the 130 reminded me of the old Eurocopter naming system. The first digit indicated civilian (1) or military (6), the second one is max takeoff weight in tons and the third digit is the number of engines (0 for single, 5 for twin). So the EC 130 is the single-engine brother of the popular 135. The naming system fell out of use though.

I have watched several of your helicopter videos and I think they are a great experience to share with the rest of us. I'm a fixed wing pilot who always wished I had pursued a career in helicopters. That will be for the next life. In your earlier videos, you let the pilot explain because you were learning about helicopters. In subsequent videos, you interrupted the pilot to display the little bit of knowledge you had gained and you stopped him from sharing his expert knowledge as an experienced pilot. That extinguishes the learning experience for the rest of us. Watch some good interviewers and notice how they don't get in the way of their subject; they let their subject describe what the interviewer is trying to reveal. You are able to still be the star; just shine the spotlight on the pilot.

Wow' really nice heilo.Noticed that the physical action of the helicopter is a bit different.Seems longer as for the stability of state of the aircraft being in one compositure.Like controls, which seem a lot easier to read. Was a bit misty on the start,"took for granted that it was on the collective somehow, had to go back, to review".Virtuers of this rotocraft seems to be a real nice hover and ride. This craft almost seems to command its own way._Other notes, excelent pilot you were riding with, Nick.He explained the craft in its completeness. Thanks for the take along. Vredus *Other impressions, reminds me in travel similar to the Gazel and Alouette.

10:02 the seat pins will brake at 10 g absorbing some inertia of the impact. Landing gear absorb some more but collapse around 20 g. You cannot add those the values to obtain 30 g worthy. The breaking pins of the seat give you just some more absorption to not brake jour spine in case of very hard landing. When you already messed up..
