You're correct about the heel stacks. Heel stacks come pre-built from the leather suppliers. Moderate is 3, Classic is 5. Great video 💪

The original heel stack that protrudes a bit would help protect the back of the heel. I know I have been known to kick things into place using my boots, whether with the toes or the heel… Now with the market moving away from true work boots and towards dressier boots, it makes sense they would try to make the stack flush with the heel

The classic heel is 5 layers and moderate heel is 3 layers of leather. I just asked Nick’s that very question today.

For all that money and work they put in making the boots, you'd think they would cut a channel for the stitches so you wouldn't walk on them.

Not sure it really matters. It seems after your wear through the stitches, the outsole is still very well attached. I’m guessing the additional cost and time to run 2 channels and ensure the stitch line runs in them is why they don’t do it. I don’t see any PNW brands doing channels like you see on GYW shoes.

@@EDHBlvd Yeah, I rarely see it. Benzein puts a deep channel on theirs.

@@Daywalker222ya I’d definitely say the channel doesn’t hurt. Possibly superior. But probably minimal. In theory it could result in the sole cracking. Probably give and take.
