I love that Nick's has got a lot of young ones making boots. It's a huge relief knowing that the craft will live on for years and years to come.

Yea i dont get that....seems like a waste. Just replace them??? The time and effort is MORE than greating a branf new one

@@user-vn1di4oq4w i think it’s about the idea that you have a piece of the same boot you bought decades ago, you get all the important parts replaced for the boot to last another decade and then some. i think it creates a very personal connection with the brand in my experience. it’s not much more than an hour of labor extra to take it apart and build a new boot anyway

Would be nice to know a little about the history of all these rebuild boots, Age/when they were made, last time they were rebuilt if ever, where they were used, what work the person does that wore them, etc.

@@paolorod Allen, or "t-shirt guy" is a great part of these Nick's vids and another dude, who I've not seen post yet, I call him the "Sith Lord Stitcher" lol....he's a lefty stitcher, who is always on rebuild duty when they get a pair of savagely worn boots to be rebuilt. It seems like they enjoy giving him the difficult jobs, hence the nickname Sith Lord Stitcher.

A rebuild is only $300. Much cheaper than a $500 new boot. The price reflects total resources, not just some additional effort to tear-down. But this kind of information would be interesting to know.

It’s much cheaper to rebuild. Also your upper is already broken in. Saves you about $300 to rebuild vs buy new. Remember most of these are custom boots and not an “off the shelf” boot that’s junk in a few months.
