Why are people in these comments so pressed? She didn't make any sweeping statements about the Bahamas as a country or a travel destination, she just listed specific complaints with the places SHE stayed at, people SHE encountered, and experiences SHE had. What's she supposed to do, lie about it?

The Bahamas is a Luxury destination so travelers on a budget who get "hook ups" for rooms, attractions and activities tend to have what they deem as unenjoyable experiences. Hook ups usually don't end well regardless of where you are in the world.

Exactly. I’m from The Bahamas; and I while I realize this is comedy, it’s not an accurate depiction of the country. What she described was parts of Nassau/New Providence. The Bahamas is actually made up of over 700 islands and cays, about 20 or so are inhabited. But hey, it’s all good 🤷🏾‍♀️

In defense of Jimmy Kimmel he didn't use his platform he cannot control what an audience says or guest says rather in fact he tried to make light of her harsh criticism by using humor I think he handled her very well and I say that as a Bahamian she's the trash you can't blame him for what she said

She talked about how horribly her experiences went.... Not once did i hear her belittle or bash the actual country. You all seem to not realize that these interviews are well rehearsed, and I'm sure that the words that were said were previoisly approved and vetted by the PR Team. If you watch this again you will see my point. She aint bashing the country.... She's bashing HER experience, and i see the humour in her delivery.

There are 700 islands she has a bad experience with one. When the truth is considering the budget she was on who goes to the Bahamas on a vacation and stays in a Comfort Inn or Airbnb I was born there she has champagne taste on a beer pocket but complaining I don't even know if the streetwalkers even use the Comfort Inn anymore

I am from the Bahamas these comments is untrue. She only person I heard talking about Atlantis. Thousands of people travel just to see the major resort a day. I have a sister who work at Atlantis. She maybe funny but she is extremely cheap! She got exactly what she paid for and is on National TV complaining about the results of her low budget vacation. She obviously paid about $80 to $100 per night for the Airbnb and then moved to some of the low tier hotels with an expectation of opulence. SMH

This isn't funny to me as a bahamian...I dont find her funny at all. Clearly this was a low budget vacation. I've stayed at better places as a local from what she described. It's her experience but she should have gone to baha Mar or something not the comfort inn with a hook up. I'm a Bahamian and never stayed at the comfort Inn. Plus Nassau is not the bahamas. There are other nice islands in my country.

What an unfair assesment, someone of her calibre should've chose better accommodations. I felt as if she was just trying to be funny because she nit picked on everything. Airbnb's and jetski rides are not a Bahamian experience. Seemed as if she was on a tight budget. She clearly stretch this story like she used to doing

And for the Bahamian people attacking her, she is of Bahamian decent and has family still there. She's not just talking as an ignorant american with no attachments to that island. But she also has every damn right to speak about her experience. Just as you would. I've been to Jamaica and the experience was similar. We want customer service as much as you want our tourism money. Imagine selling a service, wanting people's money and giving them an attitude and horrible experience the whole way through. You obviously need to learn about a place before you travel, don't categorize the entire Bahamas based on one bad experience on one island. There are 17 major islands in the country, with many different cays. If you broke just say so, but don't stay an cheap places an make it seems as if the entire place are so. You decided to get the hook up an use your taxi driver to get you to use jet ski on the low an your complaining that gas ran out. You should have went the correct routes. The government always advertised if you use jet ski operators on the low its at your own risk. So please don't discredit the country based off of your cheap actions.

Omg, you 242 dinguses. She rented an air bnb with friends for a chill vacay. Even brought a private chef. The air bnb was not as advertised and uninhabitable. They had to leave and find alternate accommodations with no vacancy anywhere. Then had bad experiences. Can happen on any vacay. She didn't say anything bad about the Bahamian people. Calm down. Y'all sound angry and annoying. People are still gonna visit.

I agree that it's not OK to call people ugly, but it's also not OK to put her skintone in as an 'ugly/less than' descriptor. Yes she's overweight, but there is nothing wrong with being dark-skinned. I STILL can't understand how this guy was robbed of his award, it still bugs me! He is an incredibly good sport -- remember him looking the podium in case there was "a mistake" made when John Oliver won? There was no offense to Oliver tho he was sincerely surprised he didn't win and I don't blame him! That was pure class. I can survive w/out watching Oliver's show, but not Jimmy ; I NEED my JK fix every night on YT! I hope he gets his best late night entertainment show sooner or later b/c in my opinion he is the best and he beats the rest hands down. The skits and staff are hilarious, his shows with his kids & family during Covid were unforgettable, and they're all pros -- smart, funny and deservng of their freakin' award!

Interesting the comments. She never once spoke about Bahamian people and culture. She spoke about her own experience while there. She didn’t say no one should go. She said she didn’t have a good time in a way comedians do when telling jokes and anecdotes. Some comments saying “if you can’t pay luxury don’t come” does that mean people that are not millionaires should not visit? A disclaimer about her intent to not have her personal views about the destination taken seriously at the beginning would have been more responsible. Word of mouth(whether correct or incorrect) from an entertainment personality on late night tv in America can be very damaging. Do you expect Bahamians to sit by and watch her take bread out our children's mouths with her reckless comments?
