Her words to 9S made it clear that even in the face of the truth she still believes that androids must protect their creators no matter what form they exist in, and so she brings down the Tower unaware of its true purpose both to remain true to her ideals and to join her lost comrades in death.

Well, the tower WAS a cannon aimed at the server, it's just that the network itself didn't know for what purpose. That's why it eventually ended up fighting itself - One side wanted to destroy, the other side wanted to preserve the androids so that they'd keep having a challenge. Now from A2s point of view, it was a cannon aimed at the moon by the androids mortal enemy. If that's the case I'd also not risk the extinction of my species long-term (if the server is destroyed and they lose all hope) on the off-chance that the network decides to be a good boy

Nikeimizhong, in fact it still makes sence as he is just a scout and also a once too kiddish one (thanks 2E's memwipes as well). Though I personally didn't really enjoy playing one too :) (especially since he lost his girlfriend and a bunker he never liked anyway and also learned there is no mankind and what?.. A2 friggin' lost her whole team - two of 'em, in fact - and also seems to know there were no people and YoRHa is a crap since nearly the very start! Though she became pretty jumpy at times she didn't go nuts.) I actually think there is another issue about him, thing is I truly doubt anyone bothered digging him out of the machine network after routes A/B so the guy we see in C is just a new guy with a familiar face (kinda explains the Farewell stage play where they can't boot him up until recovering his data from the Ark ruins, although he was expected to be ok after ending C). Anyway, kinda a nice layout - you have some simple cute fun as 2B in route A, then some massive storytelling in route B - and once you get fed up by all those hacking minigames you are let to rip shit up :)

Ending C is apparently the canon ending before ending E, there's no Tower anymore and 9S doesn't have his left hand in Ending E. As for A2, the concert scripts mentions nothing about her aside the fact that she might still be sleeping while 2B and 9S are awake, people think she's definitely dead but I don't think so.

"Canon" means that the story writer chose that ending for the next game or continuation of the story.

Deadpoolrockz6 yeah I would have to agree as well for C + E to be the canon endings since 9S body in the end is also missing the arm, Im guessing thats where the pod took his body after A2 destroyed the Tower. Ending D pretty much just feels like a definite ending on its own, 9S 2B and everyone leave on the ark still "alive" in a sense to a new world. I guess only A2 (and possibly 9S if he chooses to stay) get screwed over in ending D.

Well considering the 5th Nier Automata Concert Script titled: Farewell I think the canon would be D+E. Since in the good ending 9S gets back his data from an unknown source, which I presume is the Tower? Well I don't know, really.

In this true ending, the pods managed to salvage all of 2B, 9S and A2 memories intact. If you fought through the bullet hell credit, the scene show the pods reconstructing the bodies of our 3 main characters manually in order to restore their memories. So yes, they will remember everything happened, which decision they choose afterward, however, will be by their own will. Will they continue the meaningless fighting, or stop and live their own way, is no longer in your decision, since after the credit fight, you have given them their own consciousness, their "humanity".

Well.. all seemed dead but I think the Pods have the ability to repair them at the end and salvage their memories...including A2. Thats what I understood.

After the credit bullet hell, if you succeed, the after cut scene show that the pods managed to secure intact memories of 2B, 9S and A2, they then proceed to reconstruct our 3 main character's bodies by using remaining parts of other destroyed androids. This is because those pods, like the machines, have begun to develop their own consciousness, and began to have their own agendas. This true ending basically tell that the war between android and machine is meaningless by now. Humanity has extincted, machine no longer has their original purpose, detach themselves and developing their own consciousness, androids no longer have a reason to keep fighting to protect humans, so they have to move on and find their own purpose.

There is a part in the game where 9S discover that androids where made from machine parts as well...? The other question is : Humankind is really extinct? There is human data and the human genome being protected in the moon right? So it's possible that with that data Humankind can be restored? But I'll try to keep it short and stick to the questions. Androids and machines are both robots designed and created by human, but the machines are basic robots with limited intelligence, they are the first to be corrupted in the Network, and went frenzy killing humans. The androids were MOSTLY designed to combat all the machines on Earth. 9S did not discovered androids were made of machine part, he knew about it, in fact, all androids know they are robot themselves, they just look at machines as those who has rebelled against their human masters, and seek to destroy them to protect humans. Now, for the other question: Yes, humanity has already extincted, even before YORHA was established. It is said that humanity is extincted even before the aliens came to invade Earth, only to be wiped out by machines as well. Those datas about humans on the Moon are simply digital information about human's DNA, and other data about our society and structures. There is no physically living human to restore humanity, and since this happened like 10000 years before Nier automata, the chance to restore is practically zero. As for the last question: No, androids are not replicants, they are robots with complex AI, replicants are physical bodies without a soul, but will still do regular tasks as if they still have a human soul, while being monitored by the Overseer. The reason you see so many machines and androids have such human-like personality is because of their AI. Ever since the extinction of humanity, our informations become valuable things, and since both machines and androids were interested in it, they were also affected, and try to imitate human's feeling. Androids were the designs that resemble humans the most, they also have complex AI which allow them to express those imitation far better than machines, but the more they imitate it, the more they desire to become more "human".

This has to be one of the best games I have played so far and I'm trying to understand it as much as possible, the thing is that is hard for me to imagine this story continuing with real humans out of the picture.. It's like I am human and I need hope for my especies to be reestablished.... so I guess project Gestalt was a totally failure because of Devola and Popola mistakes.. I have chosen A2 for the fight because I couldn't sympathize with 9S Idea of Revenge like "fuck you, fuck you and fuck you too bitch!" - After I saw the ending where A2 sacraficed herself to repair 9S Logic Chip I was feeling so uncomfortable... I'm glad there is this ending. Really.
