This boss is definitely the highlight of the game for me. The whole crazy/weird design, the story, and that eargasmic soundtrack...I love it.

2:05 Probably not intentional, but I can't help but notice how Simone/Beauvoir only becomes even more extreme in her behavior AFTER she sees 9S providing support to 2B, as if on some level she understands that what she's seeing is basically what she wanted so much from Jean-Paul: LOVE.

I just low how she syncs with Emi Evans' singing. Is almost like she's performing. I think its obvious, but that's an amazing touch.

The part where Simone begs you to look at her then the game camera goes to an above view of just 2B is genius.

the problem: She forgot to love herself. When you do something solely for the sake of winning someone's love, when you change yourself so readily for someone else, It shows that you are empty. You have yet to come into your own, to become someone who is truly ready to love someone else. Never chase love. Become someone you can love, someone who is beautiful by YOUR standards, and others will come to love you, too. Nothing will turn heads quite like being truly happy with who you are.

I knew there was going to be some disturbing story about how Beauvoir got all those android bodies and I wasn't disappointed...but damn I wish I'd known how sad it was. It sounds way too much like what human beings go through to get someone's attention.

I have a feeling that the story behind the rumors of eating androids will make machine lifeforms beautiful is directly inspired by Elizabeth Bathory and the whole concept about youth and beauty!!! Such a brilliant game everything is well-written.

Possibly my favorite boss out of the bunch. The amusement park is already my favorite location in this game with the haunting parade of machines, but this mechanical songstress is basically the highlight in this part of the game. Funny how this machine in particular seems to be one of a very few that can inflict hacking damage with her attacks too. They say that music can be used to manipulate emotion, but this one basically took that concept and took it to its logical extreme. Does anyone else also get Dark Souls vibes from this particular machine? If she were flesh and blood, she'd fit right in.

im playing nier for the first time after listening to an amazing metal cover of this song first go round this is my favorite boss second time around with 9s i genuinely cried at the epilogue of the fight i do not cry easily 10/10 (i just wish the camera wasnt so obsessed with upskirting on 2B first time round)

I haven't played this game nor know much about it, but this fight gave me chills from start to finish.

For some reason my tears fell - even after their ducts have long since dried.

For me, the opera singer is one of the most intimidating bosses with the background song and the scream scene before starting to fight her

I'm kinda sad they didn't do more with the '9s learns more about the bosses by hacking them' gimmick. Would have been ineteresting to get the backstory of the important machine that way.

I recently replayed this game and the backstory of Simone always made me sad. When she quoted what beauty was, all I could think was that's not true. However it's what we all believed at some point. This one hit me hard in the feels

I remember her in Japanese version at some moment desperately screaming for help during the fight and that was heartbreaking.

I’ve just beaten thus boss today and man I felt bad for her. All she wanted was love but ended up destroying herself, all the things she did tho. Still sad. Kinda felt bad for destroying her tbh😅. What is real beauty? I think it is someone who is caring and kind to others. That’s beauty for me.

All the metal and gears almost makes you forget that this is a woman wearing the corpses of her victims, drinking their blood, all so that she'll seem "beautiful". Just goes to show that body horror doesn't have to be organic to be horrifying.

I've played this game years ago and to this day Beauvoir's monologue is still one of the most despairing shit I've ever read in my life. It takes a special (and mentally ill) kind of genius to create something so beautifully fucked up like this.

i wish they hand't added so much story interrupting the fight, or that "hacking sequence" the trailer fight of this was so impactful, so fitting of that awesome song, too much of these alternating storytelling, and battle types and the fight loses its shine
