The symbolism in Adam death is beyond gorgeous. He is a machine, a being that can connect to a network and, if his body dies, he can simply create another and live in an eternal cycle, but he was curious on what the concept of "death" was. But when he severs his connection with the network, and eventually fall to 2B, instead of trying to push 2B away, as someone would to try to survive, he hugs her, he smiles because his dream of experiencing death was fufilled.

This fight is my favourite from NieR Automata. Everything is so perfect, the music, the fight, the location, the colors, Adam's saying things about humans non-stop while battling (and it couples so well with the music, omg) That's an awesome fight, I always have chills from seeing or playing this battle !

Funny thing, my main playstyle is usually sword and greatsword or double sword, I’m actually better with the double swords, but I played most of my first playthrough with the sword and greatsword combination, but when Adam showed what he did to Nines, I went double sword on his ass and wrecked his shit.

It’s funny how Adam’s fascination with humanity lead to his own demise. Humans have limited lifespans, so Adam wanted to emulate humans’ mortality by severing his connection to the network which would implant his data and consciousness into a new body. In a sense, he’s the most human machine in the game.

Once you get the C ending come back to this fight, take out all attack plug-ins, and fight him with your fists. Music turned up all the way. Super satisfying.

+GEMain Exactly. The auto-heal chip isnt built for instant activation. Maybe in the demo, but they seemed to have slowed its use drastically in the final product, just like how they made normal mode be as hard as the demo's hard mode was, and make hard mode even harder. . As the chip is now, it doesnt activate till like a half-second after it's needed, and in most cases, especially in this boss, the enemy will just keep hitting you. The auto chip is really only of any use against big and slow bosses or normal enemies, save for ones that do continuous strikes like the spinning axe-wielders, spearmen, and multi-piece flyers.

Honestly, in most other works, when it comes to exploring the concept of humanity or the topic of machines and humanity, it ultimately boils down to meaningless rambling that is supposed to seem profound. Yet in this, there are no diminishing comments about how humanity is oh so degenerate and simple, and how machines are oh so pure. This right there, THAT is what I call philosophical. They take into account that many humans are primarily driven by love and affection, but also by conflict, yet they do not pack out the old "and that's why humanity sucks" routine, they rather say "and that's why humanity is so alive and pure". This is honestly a far more likely scenario in my eyes, should a machine ever study humanity, rather than the old and trite "Oh I'm such an exalted machine and so above humans." line of thinking. In my opinion, if machines ever became self aware, it would be far more likely that we would have an Adam, rather than a VIKI (from I, Robot).

I'm a little disappointed that Adam and Eve didn't stick around longer in the story as a whole. They were both very interesting characters which, and correct me if I'm wrong, we STILL don't know much about them. Like, how can they be JUST born, AND be the beings that killed their creators hundreds of years ago? Why is Adam so obsessed with learning about humanity despite his first interaction being two gothically dressed sex bots beating the living shit out of him? Where did Eve get those sick tats from? And most importantly: WHY ARE THEY SO SEXY?!

-The machines killed their creators, that's why Adam and Eve say "we", for the machines in general, not just them specifically. -Are you saying you wouldn't be interested in a species whose first interaction with you is two gothically dressed sex bots beating the living shit out of you? -To tourment you over the fact that since they have no dick, that sexyness is doomed to be wasted. Well, Adam was spawned by the machine network which contains information of their predecessors who killed the Aliens, he says "we" as in the machine collective, not him and Eve personally. The machines as a whole were already curious about humans before they produced Adam in an attempt to emulate them and be a sort of embodyment of their network. When Adam first shows up, he actually tries to talk "Why..fight?" but at this point 2B and 9S have no idea that the machines have become sentient and go ballistic on him - When you think about it it's quite ironic, is initial disposition was "Let's commnicate/negotiate", but he ends up being convinced that the meaning of life is strife and conflict because, given the world he was 'born' and 'raised' in, why wouldn't he? Tings may have gone different if there had been some sucessful ommunication at some point.

They're honestly closer to the synthetic human bodies/cyborg bodies of Ghost in the Shell than the traditional android design. . They grow fatigued and need sleep, they seem to need to (or enjoy) eating and drinking even though they apparently get what they need through water alone, and their circuits produce a chemical through their system in combat that produces euphoria, similar tot eh chemical reactives in our own veins. . They're more comparable to a metal-based homunculi (artificial human) that lacks reproductive organs than a regular android, which might be due in part to the fact stuff like androids were only created in Nier's world because magic from Drakengards' world bled into Earth and screwed up a bunch of stuff. . Hell, Emil was a normal human boy before their attempts to weaponize magic and understand the maso of the grotesquerie legion turned his sister into a failed Watcher more or less and made him have gorgon eyes.

NieR is filled with bad science/logic. The 'blood' is to make the androids look human when they're cut, even if this makes little sense from an engineering point-of-view. I personally just (try to) turn off that part of my brains when I come across this type of story. And I believe Nakumare is correct. It's silly though, since it shows NieR's developer doesn't have a single clue about how mammals or even electronic devices work and should probably not include a hybrid system based on them in their game. I wish they'd just spend a few years studying STEM before attempting to write serious Sci-Fi, but I guess that's too much to ask.

Adam isn't an Android, he's a machine that was made to lool like humans. So he has blood like liquid in his body. Yoko Taro confirmed that Adam and Eve continued to evolve, mentally and physically, to be closer to humans, eventually even growing genitals. They are not supposed to be realistic machines, they even use magic... Nier NEVER was supposed to be scifi, and even less a realistic one, it's a fantasy. If you even played the first game, you'd see that everything is explained by magic (Maso particles) that came from the world of Drakengard, because a stone giantess crashed into modern Tokyo. You saying that this is not realistic enough just comes out as silly here. The first Nier game literally has human-like clones that gain sentience and human souls walking around, and an illness that forces you to either make a pact with the gods or become a zombien

Just beat Adam today on my first playthrough. Every time I reach a boss fight, be it Adam in the desert, Dark Colossus in the Flooded City or Adam again in the Copied City, I was awestruck by the atmosphere surrounding the fight, the exposition by the bosses/NPCs, the music and the cutscenes. It isn't the fight that matters, but the story going on. This game goes straight into my top 3 favorites along with Dark Souls and Hollow Knight. Yoko Taro is a motherfucking genius of epic proportions.

Naw, he was quite clever, and essentially the entire Copied City was under his control - his downfall was that he wanted to be like humans - he wanted to experience that emotion of hate, the thrill of the fight and ultimately death firsthand. He couldn't've done this while still being linked up to the network (which would ensure his respawn/return in new body) - hence, he died for realsies.

None of the characters are really bad it's all just a point of perspective, both the machines and androids are just a legacy weapon of their respective masters. I'd say they're all victims to a meaningless war, fighting because that's what they were designed for and that's all they know.

The fuck I just fought this guy and I had so much trouble because he fucking puts a barrier literally every time I attacked. I see this person using their pod to shoot but literally after the first bullet Adam would shield. We're you suppose to just dodge the counter?!

i tried to fight him as level 1 but got one hit killed. then i tried with level 6 and it was a bit easier but his hits were still damaging 80% of my health. but i finally managed to beat him in 1 try, it was fun ngl

A big part of the market for this game is in Japan, and Xbone's market share there is awful. This game actually was at #1 overall sales in Japan from just the PS4 release. It wasn't cancelled or paid exclusivity; it simply had to sell well in Japan to be worth porting to the Xbone, and unfortunately Xbone doesn't do well there. I can't imagine Platinum being particularly pleased with Microsoft currently, either.

When i get this fight there's tons of dead bodies. So i run through and check my chips. Im Lv49 when i did this just from doing side quests with +xp chips on. Guess im grinding too much. Didn't even use a heal lol
