If youre attempting a Very Hard playthrough of this game, this is by far the hardest part. There are more challenging bosses later on but the prologue is such a long section where you have to be perfect.

LOL that stick figure part. I loved this game but it was indeed very easy on regular difficulty. Except for the hacking parts. That gave me so much trouble. But not getting hit at all? I don't think I could ever do that. It's quite impressive that there are players who can though.

I spent nearly 18h trying to pass this tutorial, and I always died at the arm swing on the air unit phase. You showed me that you can go behind him and simply hide from that bugged hitbox, thank you very much, I finally made it :D

I finished a blind play of the prologue on normal last night and face tanked my way through since the game didn’t force me/give me a chance to learn how to dodge. I googled “nier very hard” so I could see how it’s supposed to be played and lo and behold my new favorite channel popped up! (enjoyed your souls videos and Ninja Gaiden videos so far). I think I’ll turn it up to hard from here. Thanks for the videos!

I also recently started my first run of the game on normal (got past the Amusement Park Level yesterday) but now I am willing to switch to at least Hard mode, so that it does not feel completely like auto-pilot mode 😅. Started watching from the Bloodborne guides and I gotta say, you make some of the best guides I've seen here on KZfaq for these games. I've considered booting up Nier: Automata again to do very hard (my first playthrough was mostly on hard after figuring out the controls and combat) and I will absolutely be using this as a reference. Glad to see a SL1 ds runner pulling off the hardest difficulty of one of my favorite games of all time :) I totally agree the 99 healing items restriction totally ruins the balance of the game. Constantly healing becomes the norm once you have enough hp to survive every single hit. However, I think there exists another dimension of difficulty if you turn off the ability to heal. For example, easy difficulty at low leveled up characters with passive partner and no chips (except essential ones) or items can be quite challenging as well. Also, the ability to chapter select to get pattern of certain bosses and change difficulty if you're just too bad at certain sections adds onto the flexibility of this game. Anyway, great video series, continue to do your best!

Might as well take these as a normal guide since it's my first time playing and kept on dying.

When I go through that first entrance into the tunnel, I've noticed that none of the obstacles are in your way if you don't move the controller when you're given control of 2B's flight suit again. The only dangerous pieces are the water boilers, but well-timed dodges make short work of them.

Firstly, it’s clear that this challenge is totally insane because there is not a save point in the entire chapter, so how many times did you repeat it until you memorized every single step? Secondly, were you upgraded? It looks to me almost impossibile to complete this challenge for people who don’t know exactly B2’s moveset, isn’t it? I decided to select this mode at my first playing but I died many times just because I’m still learning the fighting. Cheers

I have played this game seventeen hours and I still haven't gotten past the prologue. I'm too stubborn to lower the difficulty down from Hard. Really really want to get past this first boss. EDIT: Dude thanks to your tips I was finally able to beat him. So excited now that I can save and finish the rest of this game!

I failed in the prologue not knowing i could chain doge "under" the blades of the boss. Its as retarded as Dark Souls dodge where a player can dodge into a blade...

29:24 - BEWARE the boss fired missiles instead of swinging at me, so after dealing the killing blow, I died during the cutscene because a missile hit me... T.T be careful not to kill the boss until the missiles are gone

It's a real shame that they didn't balance the difficulty modes better. Normal and easy basically play themselves and in hard and very hard you get one shot by nearly everything in the game unless you turn the game into a grindfest or get lucky with upgrade chips. (Then you get two shot) I wish they had one challenging mode that didn't require hours of grinding or perfection.

Hello, I just played through the game on normal since I'm a student and don't have time to do things over 20 times. I only ever died once in the game... However, I just wanted to ask something to see if it is even worth it to start a playthrough on hard... or this cursed very hard mode by the looks of it... do you even get anything for completing the game on very hard? Because if all you get is the satisfaction of doing that or just a crappy achievement that you can buy then there is no way I'd start that. Sorry for the long question. Short version: do you get anything for completing Nier: Automata on Hard or Very Hard?

Perhaps you should try to make shorter videos on topics like these that summarize some of the basic principles/tips you’d use to beat some part of a game? Bought this game yesterday and started my first playthrough on Hard... 4 hours have passed and I have yet to clear the Prologue mission. During my last attempt I died when Goliath had about 15 percent of health - did not notice that force field attack of his in time and got obliterated instantly. The strangest thing is that I do feel frustrated, but each time I start a new run I immediately notice that I get better and better at it! After playing the game for 4 hours I have learnt a few useful tricks which have significantly improved my ability to dodge and counter enemies' attacks, use various combos to increase my damage output, and so on and so forth. So maybe the absence of saves is not actually that bad because the game's main task in the Prologue chapter - in my opinion, at least - is to help you learn how to utilize your skills and abilities as efficiently as possible. So if you have not beaten the Prologue and thinking about giving up - don't. Yes, the absense of saves leads to some really cheap deaths, but it also greatly speeds up the process of "getting gud", and that's great! I'd rather die a bunch of times but will be able to beat all the bosses with style and confidence than breeze through the game on Easy without even knowing how to do the most basic things. Thank you for your great guide! As soon as I beat the Prologue myself, I will definitely watch the video until the end!

Thank god I learnt why I got continuously destroyed while dodging during the second wave of arm slams. I didn't know there was a shockwave that could kill me after the arm had landed that I couldn't dodge just like with the arms . After attempting the same part countless times and dying at the same point I understood there was something I was missing.

The game didn't even tell I could light attack at the flying robot lol

I had to swallow my pride and play this part on normal. Then I played the rest on hard, with a good amount of grinding haha

I kept dying to his arm at last phase (just before we get his arm.) but after 8 hours I finally managed to take him down. I was idiotic to use heavy attacks aswell rather than to dodge all the time.

Tried playing on mnk and much harder couldnt get the mod working and playing on controller is wayy better, however playing on extreme is the only way to be a god, even if it takes 3 hours to pass the first boss

I played Replicant on max difficulty and reached all ending includes E. When i start (few minutes ago) Automata i suck some in prologue, robots told me: "get gud". Wth? Oneshot difficulty??? Maybe i used to increased health of enemies instead of oneshot. If i cant finished prologue on hard level (not very hard), I'll just try normal difficulty 👶

Easy Mode: Game Journalists will still say its too hard. Normal Mode: What "Easy Mode" in other games typically is. Hard Mode: What you'd expect "Normal Mode" to typically feel like. This is what I chose for my first playthrough and yes it was a struggle but it taught me to play carefully and use every advantage and item I could get. (Though since the game's leveling system isn't so great, I started to get quite overleveled by the time I finished playthrough B so it was a bit disappointing.) Very Hard Mode: "Ok, Hard mode wasn't too bad even though I was completely new to the game, how bad could this really be?" *Three hours later still stuck on the prologue and dying to stupid shit like accidentally clipping one of the pipe's hitbox when you fly into the tunnel even though you are completely sure you didn't hit it*

you cant save very hard mode ?

This game's difficulty seems to be divided for keyboard+mouse and controller. Hard and Very hard doesn't seem possible with keyboard+mouse because double tap evade adds a lot of RNG to it. And even with auto hotkey that made it a little easier, still adds an annoying thing, like character continuing to run after evade, because it's auto-run button. So, for me this game was so boring, playing through normal only for story because it doesn't feel like there's getting any better either. And then after all the story the game feels lifeless and not much for gameplay either with keyboard+mouse. They shouldn't have added keyboard+mouse support, since it only felt worse playing... like it feels like it should be possible to do any difficulty, but it really isn't.

The only easy games that I play on hard difficulty are quantum break halo 3 ODST and halo 5 and far cry 5

This game can actually be a bit of a challenge on normal if you play with certain restrictions like i do such as: no weapon upgrading, no stat increasing plug in chips, no exp boost plug in chips, only 10 medium heals and 5 large heals allowed to be carried at once, and no auto use item chips.
