Nigella shows us how to make her rich and creamy mashed potatoes, which can also be used as leftovers to make Salmon Cakes.

That’s the comforting recipe I was looking for! Close to what my Mum made when we were kids! The other famous Chefs all seem to want weird exotic ingredients and no mash potatoes! We knew we could count on Nigella! Klaus and Julie

Matzo meal. It’s made from ground matzoh flatbreads. It’s lighter and less absorbing than bread crumbs or panko. More like a cracker meal. They’re usually in the kosher section of the market.

This is just wrong. A whole bowl of mash on it's own? Tinned salmon in fishcakes? This is not good cooking.
@ryanspencerlauderdale6875 жыл бұрын
Don't knock it till you've tried it. Mashed potatoes on their own became my guilty pleasure because of Nigella.
@nitelite785 жыл бұрын
@but ton All decent restaurants will make it from freshly cooked salmon. That's how I used to do it when I was a chef and that's how I do it now. Tinned salmon is already over cooked. A spoon of mash on its own is nice but not a whole bowl. Needs gravy.
@nitelite785 жыл бұрын
@but ton You must have worked in bad restaurants.
@m.theresa13853 жыл бұрын
You’ve never had cheese and potato pie for lunch? It’s essentially the same thing. Here it was obviously being made as a prep for her fish cakes. I prefer more seasonings (yummy capers) but as she said, hers were made with the kids in mind. Canned tuna, salmon (and sardines) are pantry basics, often coming to the rescue. Play around a bit more chef nitelight.
@nitelite783 жыл бұрын
@@m.theresa1385 It's not like cheese and potato pie. If I make cheese and potato pie it has cheese and fried onions in and I eat it with baked beans.
