First saw his stand up video, Live at the Met in 1988, then soon after, The World According to Garp (still one of my all time favourite films), and was hooked. Had seen him much earlier in Mork and Mindy of course in the late 1970s, WOW wasn't that a role and a half.

These night at the museum movies hold a special place in peoples hearts because this film series is the last Robin Williams was a part of before he ended up taking his own life. In the last movie the director off screen who noticed Robin was having a hard time with his lines, Robin told the director "I just dont know how to be funny anymore" and it just breaks my heart, but he pulled through it to give a good performance. He took his own life 4 months before the last Museum movie released in 2014.

The Museum of Natural History in New York City actually does have a program called "Night at the Museum" where you can stay overnight.

I believe the museum is based on the collection at Chicago's Field Museum. They have Sue, a tyrannosaurus rex, the lions from "The Ghost and the Darkness", a recreation of an Egyptian tomb, and many exhibits about different cultures from history. I don't know if they have a Moai -- the statues from Easter Island.

Dasha, the white haired retired guard was played by Dick Van Dyke. See for example, Mary Poppins (the one from the 1960's or so). The very short old man was Mickey Rooney, see for example National Velvet (1944).

Dick Van Dike did a lot of great movies and a funny TV show. My favorite movie is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Micky Rooney also had A lot of great movies as well.

Modern viewers may not be as familiar with them, but I also like the fact that the crew of old guys features HUGE stars of past film eras. Mickey Rooney was a child star starting at the end of the silent film era back in the late 1920s and was super popular in the 30s and 40s. Dick Van Dyke was I think peak popularity in the 60s. I’m not as familiar with Bill Cobbs, but I think he had several notable roles in the 70s and 80s.

Hi Dasha!😊 I'm glad you have started the fun Night at the Museum films!👏 That metal thing on the car wheel is called a "Boot". They usually do it to people with many parking tickets or violations. This prevents the person from driving away before it is towed. It is common to see booted cars around New York. The interior scenes were shot at a studio in British Columbia, Canada. The exterior scenes were shot at New York's American Museum of Natural History. A great star studded cast! Super reactions to this very fun and engaging film, Dasha!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏 Have a great week!😊

The World According to Garp, for me, is quite unique, and Bicentennial Man didn't get a good write up, but I think its a fascinating story and Robin Williams is of course brilliant. Then there's Patch Adams, what a great character. Not saying everything he chose was at the same level, but then again, every actor has some interesting roles in their resume.

Hi Dasha! Happy new year! I adore your reactions! I'm sorry this is a long comment, but I think it is worth it. I have a lot of comedy movie suggestions, however, my strongest suggestion to start is the Marx Brothers. It’s difficult to describe in modern terms how popular they were or important they are to the history of film comedy, but they literally were the first major movie “talkie” comedians. (The silent movie era ended in 1929 and their movie career began in 1929.) And to this day, their films from +/- 90 years ago remain some of the greatest of comedies of all time; and the most important, as they were the template for literally everyone else. They have a lot of films, but two are clearly their strongest: *A Night At the Opera* and *Duck Soup*. *Duck Soup* is more-often-than-not considered their greatest achievement, but I recommend starting with *A Night At the Opera* because it is a better introduction to their brand of humor and professional characters. Then, once you understand what they’re about, you watch *Duck Soup*. (*A Night At the Opera* is only 90 minutes, by the way, and *Duck Soup* is only 70 minutes.) I won’t tell you anything else about them except these 2 things: (1) They each have professional character traits, even though in each film their characters are different. So, for example Groucho always has the same personality, whether he’s a professor at a college and his character’s name is Quincy Wagstaff or whether he’s a wild game poacher and his character’s Geoffrey Spaulding. (2) There are sometimes three Marx Brothers and sometimes four. Groucho, Chico, and Harpo are in all the films. Zeppo, who always plays the straight man, is only in some of the films. I hope you see this and give them a try. I think you’ll really really like them; and, if not, you’ll still probably find it interesting where talking film comedy began!
