Hey guys and welcome to my channel! As you have probably deciphered from my channel name, I am both a mom and a police officer! I originally created my channel for motherhood and lifestyle content, but quickly realized I wanted to share the my love and passion for police work as well. I have been working as a police officer for the last 13 years and currently hold the rank of lieutenant in a large metropolitan police department.
In this video I will share with you all of my night shift essentials. Once I began night shift, I immediately had trouble decompressing and sleeping when I returned home from work. Staying asleep during the middle of the day is not something that comes naturally, but in this video I discuss some tips and tricks that can help you accomplish day time sleep and night shift sanity!
The majority of police officers on the streets of America are incredible and amazing people, striving to serve their communities as best they can. Unfortunately, bad police officers and evil do exist as well. If you have been unhappy with police services or had a bad experience with police, I am sorry you experienced that. I welcome you to get to know me and I hope that I can change your opinion for the better. Hello Lt, Sgt. Doug here, I go to you tube and put on a log cabin, with stormy weather, on my cell phone and set it for 40 min shut off. It works great with thunder and lighting to. I know it sounds crazy but it works. Like being up north in my cabin with my wife and kitty sleeping with rain hitting the roof on our cabin. Great show!

Hi Melissa, I enjoy your channel, and would like to thank you for your service! I notice that you have not posted a video in a while, so I hope all is well with you and your family. I praise your husband who is still supporting you as an LEO with the current situation. My brother’s fiancée is also an LEO, and my brother has been really worried about her safety, especially during the night patrol due to the recent push and political agenda. There are less personnel per shift which means waiting for a back-up is longer in most cases, and she needs to deal with suspects alone for most of the time. Domestic disturbance call is the worst, and most happens in the eve hours. Anyway, it is great if you can provide your perspective on your safety in the current situation, but I know that can be somewhat political, so it is okay if you could not provide any comments. We thank you and your family again for your service!

Thank you so much for watching…public safety is not easy on any family, you are correct. I hope your brothers fiancé stays safe. Even with shorter staffing numbers, it’s important to send enough officers on potentially dangerous calls when possible. The overnight shift is extremely challenging as far as staffing because you have a fraction of the resources, if any, compared to daytime hours, even for me in a large metropolitan agency. My husband is retired from the fire service so he is very understanding and aware of the challenges of public safety. Without his support I would not be able to be in this career field.

Valerian is another that some use but it can have some unpleasant side effects. I just use plain ol' Vitamin D3.

I love your channel so much ❤️ I want to be a state trooper when I get out of high school I was wondering can you have your nails done? and can you have arylic? and what about makeup and hair? and fitness level? I love your channel so much 💙💙💙💙

Every agency is different. For nails mine allows painted and acrylic but the nail cannot be more than 1/4 inch past your finger in length. They say makeup and nail color should be “conservative and professional.” As far as fitness levels, they only monitor that during the academy. After that it is up to the officer to maintain their own level of fitness. Some do and some do not…I can share more of the specifics in another Q and A video.

Hi Kayden! Most departments do a 1 1/2 mile run, push-ups, sit ups, and/or some kind of obstacle course. I haven’t heard of any agency that requires a certain weight. Most just require you to perform at high physical levels. I think weight requirements are more of a military thing

I’m actually working on a tips for being hired video where I address that, but Jacklyn is right! Some agencies don’t require a degree at all and some require 60 college credits or show preference toward candidates with a degree
