I put the carbs back together on the 1986 nighthawk S after cleaning and put them back on the bike.

Also you should set carbs to be exactly the same. Cant remember the name of the tool but it will allow you to set the idle on each carb to match the rest and they run around $70

I think might be referring to a vacuum synchronization? It is a good idea to do that after the carbs are put back on bike. I'll have to post a video of that at some point...

i'm about to do this job, the outer carbs were not getting any fuel. are the tubes going inbetween the intakes accessible from the throat. not sure if the center fuel line T fitting comes out. unless you know why the fuel would not be getting to the outer units.

You would need to disassemble the racks that hold the carburetors together in order to get to the fuel intake tubes. I should have done that, but skipped this step because I was in a rush to get it back on the road (mistake). In your case, the outer carbs may not be getting any fuel due to a stuck or clogged float/needle assembly. Either way, fully disassemble the whole thing and change all of the gaskets on the tubes when you do or you'll have to do it again in a few years like I did.

I have an 84 750. There are tubes teed between carb 1/2 and 3/4. Mine just dangle at the back of the engine and seem to drip oil. Do you know where they are suppose to go?

Hi there! They are above the main fuel supply line for the bowls, correct? Those are probably the vent tubes for the carbs that allow for fuel overflow and proper air exchange for the diaphragms to work. I would not plug them and leave them as is. If oil is coming out, then you may have a crankcase ventilation issue that is causing too much oil to get sucked back into the carbs. Check that your crankcase breather tube(s) are not plugged.

@@carolinacars739 thanks. I did drain the air box and wipe up some excess oil under the air filter. I had plugged the lines but then bike would start. I will investigate crank case pressure reliefs. Been searching for mysterious oil leak after riding that’s saturating under side and exhaust connector
