Today there were 104 new 52-week highs and 31 new 52-week lows on NASDAQ. On the NYSE there were 106 new 52-week highs and 7 new 52-week lows. The slope of the US Treasury yield curve declined slightly: 74 basis points separated the 1-month (1.59%) from the 30-year (2.33%). Volatility, as measured by the volatility index multiple I follow, UVXY, declined slightly. UVXY closed at 12.64, off 0.32% on the day. Winners of the day included Teledyne (US ticker: TDY) and Douglas Emmett (US ticker: DEI). Regarding TDY: "Teledyne Technologies Incorporated provides instrumentation, digital imaging, aerospace and defense electronics, and engineered systems in the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Canada, France, and the Netherlands. The company's Aerospace and Defense Electronics segment provides electronic components and subsystems, as well as communications products, such as defense electronics; environment interconnects; data acquisition and communications equipment for aircraft; components and subsystems for wireless and satellite communications; and general aviation batteries." It has 10,850 employees. Regarding DEI: "Douglas Emmett, Inc. (DEI) is a fully integrated, self-administered and self-managed real estate investment trust (REIT), and one of the largest owners and operators of high-quality office and multifamily properties located in the premier coastal submarkets of Los Angeles and Honolulu."
