Then a couple of years ago I discovered KZfaq reactions. After devouring Zeppelin and Floyd reactions (my favorite bands) I came across Nightwish, and my mind was blown. Symphonic metal! Never heard of it! I became an instant fan of Nightwish and of all the members. Floor Jansen is one of the top female voices today, not only for her power and range, both of which are phenomenal, but also because of her ability to sing in pretty much any genre and own it. Also, at just a bit over six feet tall, and her personality, she has an incredible stage presence and is a joy to watch. By opening my mind to the fact that there was incredible music out there that I could love, it drove me to investigate metal, grunge and others. Became a great fan of Metallica, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and more. It’s been a wonderful musical journey discovering so much great music during the pandemic. Thank you for being a part if it!

Ghost Love Score- (Wacken 2013) is a must for your next Nightwish reaction. You just heard Floor Jansen sing. Nightwish's 3rd, and by far their best female vocalist. She is from Holland and over 6 feet tall. Often called the "Valkyrie." She has an incredibly strong voice and can sing anything from Opera, to classical, to rock, to metal. Prior to joining Nightwish (a Finnish Symphonic Metal Band) in 2012 she was in two other Dutch Metal Bands. She also has a long history of being a vocal coach, teaching voice lesson to aspiring singers. Nightwish has a ton of super great songs. Every song from the 2013 Wacken (Germany) concert is fabulous. Floor had only joined the band about 9 months earlier (when the previous singer dropped out.) They called Floor to stand in to finish the tour. Technically Floor was not even a permanent member of the band yet at the 2013 Wacken concert. Nightwish's popularity soared once Floor became the lead singer. I don't typically like "Metal." Nightwish is something totally different. I describe them as ⅓ metal ⅔rds epic, heroic, cinematic movie score from Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings. Everybody is happy and inspired. Almost all songs are uplifting, and make your heart sing. I find that "typical" metal is angry or satanic, a bunch of screaming, grunting or demonic growling. You'll see Floor and Nightwish when you enter the kingdom of heaven. You'll hear the typical satanic metal if you go to "the hot place."

Floor Jansen is a great singer with an amazing range to her voice, she has such presence on stage and always gives a fantastic performance as do the whole band. This is a really brilliant live version of Storytime. I have a lot of Nightwish songs downloaded and a lot of them are from this particular concert. Storytime is one of my favourites along with others such as Shudder Before the Beautiful, Yours is an Empty Hope, Weak Fantasy, Ever Dream, Romanticide, Last Ride of the Day and Ghost River. Floor Jansen is the third and present singer of Nightwish and widely considered the best and most versatile female singer of our time. As I am a Flooraholic from Utrecht, The Netherlands, here is some more background information on our 1.83m tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen. She joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. My favourite song is 'Energize Me'. They made a very beautiful music video out of this. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. Later she did a year Conservatory to learn some more classical singing. 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song, such as from full operatic to serious growls in seconds. The songs 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card' are good examples. During this time Floor also did vocal coaching and as Floor is a perfectionist she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the American Tour as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour ('Please learn the setlist in 48 hours'). The lyrics of the songs of Nightwish are very poetic and the music as a whole is challenging, but Floor pulled it off and she stayed for the whole world tour, culminating in this iconic Wacken 2013 Open Air festival. It was obvious that the match Nightwish and Floor Jansen was made in Walhalla, so she became a permanent member of the band in 2013 as the relationship with Annette and the band was strained even before she became ill. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp' for a couple of years, but it became clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so Revamp disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died' is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on KZfaq. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe, watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa'. And to see her in full opera mode watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered KZfaq in the last year and uploaded many interesting videos on her channel. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. Also her 'Fan Friday' videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of the presents she left there. Floorgasm alert! Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band 'Sabaton'); daughter Freja (just turned 4 years last march); a horse and pony; a dog and a bunch of cats, she found this.

Symphonic metal allows Nightwish to take their music in several different directions, They have the long, epic, grand production style songs.. But they also have several of the more classic style metal type songs as well... and like this song, just about everything in between.. They even have songs with a bit of that Celtic folk/rock kind of vibe.. But, no matter the base style of song they are going for... all their songs will have those signature symphonic elements that give the music those extra layers that make the sound so rich and full.. Nightwish has a discography that is phenomenal no two songs are alike. There have been three eras of Nightwish...You heard Tarja (the first singer) who along with Tuomas (keyboardist and composer) and Jukka (drummer) started Nightwish. Annette Olzon was the second singer. She has a good voice for studio not so much live at that time, I personally think it was because her self esteem was a little low at that time. She was replacing Tarja. The third and perfect fit for a symphonic metal band...Floor Jansen (Dutch) who can cover all ranges, from pure opera to death growls, and is still with the band to this day. Any of the live performances from Waken 2013 are amazing. But if you want to hear what Tuomas wrote for Floor's vocals...any song from Endless Forms Most Beautiful or Human :II: Nature. Shoemaker comes to mind from the latter. Yours is an empty hope from the former. Now you can really enjoy the rabbit hole that is Nightwish.

Every song they did at this concert was excellent, but there's not just Wacken.. you'll be getting requests from the Wembley show, or Tampere, Buenos Aries, etc.. There has to be about a hundred different Nightwish songs out there on KZfaq in an official live recorded video format.. I suggest "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 next.. Nightwish reaction requests come on two parts, the song name followed by which live performance they prefer. I suggest you might want to stick with the links Gabriel supplies. Some of these videos were re-encoded to try and make them higher definition and the process slowed the video down a bit.. Noticeable once you heard the video at the correct speed. Take your choice, the Nightwish Army loves it all.
