Today we are revisiting the newer Nijiya Market in the Ala Moana Shopping Center. The original was near the corner of Pi'ikoi and Kona Streets, but has since moved to the shopping center.
Nijiya Market offers many Japanese products, produce, meats and other groceries, but also offers affordable sushi and bentos filled with fresh seafood. Since I was already in the shopping center, I went to the 85° Celsius Bakery, which is a Taiwanese bakery offering many different pastries and cakes.

Nijiya is awesome, between my parents and me, we go there about twice a week for our japanese staples 👍. If i had to guess, i think your “DX Shake” bento could be translated to “Deluxe Salmon” 🤔. Sake means salmon in japanese but promounced like “sha-ke”. Once at don quijote i over heard two tourist ladies from the south excitedly pore over some items. One said to the other “You-Me sushi! Let’s try it!”. They were looking at ume musubi 😆😊. I found it funny, charming, and cool they were being adventurous 👌.

Aloha Misty: You review of both food establishments was great. The plates at Nijiya Market looked delicious. Glad to know that 85-C is open at Ala Moana. Sometimes, I will get a 85-C Bakery, which has two locations near me, pastry for breakfast, or a quick lunch, which I pair with a nice cup of hot tea. I hope Aiden enjoys the pastry from 85-C! Great restraint with the rice in the Chirashi bowl (which looked delicious). Reasonable price on both items. Always good to have options for Ala Moana, somehow everyone ends up there once in awhile. 85C Bakery - Taro swirl & guava strudel, agreed that there's not enough filling in some of their pastries; on the plus side, nothing is too sweet. If you like Japanese curry - CoCo Ichibanya (somewhere in Ala Moana), so much better than the box curry mixes. Have a great weekend!
