Not sure if the equipment manager didn't have a stick ready to give, or if it was about the no icing call, realistically probably was a bit of both.

Hedman was milking that pretty bad. Wasn't icing anyway. If the linesman can beat an NHL player to the corner the player isnt trying very hard to get there. If the ref determies you didn't make enough of an effort to get the puck he can decide not to call it. Just another case of TB trying to play the ref instead of playing hockey. Discretion call, and the ref was probably tired of listening to TB bitch about literally everything for 6 games straight. After a while it's just noise. They might have complained themselves right out of the building.

Since the beginning of organized ice hockey, the rule if icing has remained the same. The player pursuing the puck MUST make a sincere effort to reach the puck before it crosses the end line. If, in the opinion of the official, the player does NOT make a reasonable effort, icing shall be negated. That's all that happened here. Hedman was being his lazy, smug, self and got called on it. The end.

Colorado dominated that whole 3rd period Tampa couldn't handle the pressure the Avs were putting on them, even for a team like Tampa it's hard to hold them off with that much skill constantly pushing the tempo against you. Both teams have the ability to do that to eqchother. Colorado was just hungrier to not lose another opportunity to close out the series. Sure injuries and fatigue affected the Lightning but Colorado took advantage of that by not letting up right until the end. One of the better finals we've seen in awhile.

I used to ref college D3 hockey. I used to tell the young players that if a 40 year old guy can beat them to the puck it wasn't going to be icing. Those guys were all half my age. Read the rule book! Article 10.5! If it crosses the goal line it is icing! No such thing as if the referee thinks it is icing or not! Suspecting that the player is dragging his feet! And to make a better judgment call, look at the play. The player intentionally send the puck at the other end! Not even a question, icing? I have read the rule book and have played hockey. Sure, if the icing had been called theoretically that could've resulted in a Tampa goal. But odds are extremely low with 20 seconds left. Plus if you want to talk about missed calls, Avs should've gotten a 5 on 3 power play for Stammer shooting the puck at an official and Maroon attempting to injure a player with a two-hand stick-breaking slash aimed at a an Avs player's achilles during that game, and that could've meant an Avs goal. You can what-if all you want, calls will be borderline in the game of hockey and that's just how it is. If you want to win, you have to play well, and the Avs clearly outplayed Tampa virtually all of game 6 (I'm a Wings fan and don't even like the Avs, so this is not biased lol). Blaming the officials for Tampa's loss is bullshit. Tampa had 60 minutes to win, and they didn't put it together so don't act like it's the ref's fault your team was beaten.

The referee did not make the decision. The linesman did. Referees call penalties. Linesman call icing and offside. The rule is outlined below in the comments. But the most important part of the rule is the first few words: “In the opinion of the linesman…….”. As such it’s a judgment call. The linesman should take into account the physical state of the defender, and perhaps he did. In my view, this was the correct decision. It would have been worse if he called icing when the defender clearly slowed down before touching the puck.

If you are blaming the refs for a loss in ANY sport, your team deserves to lose. A win/loss is not based on one no-call, it's based on multiple plays you had opportunities and did nothing with them. I am not saying the calls are the only thing...but, Tampa fans may have issue with your second goal...(penalty call) They didn't play like 'shit' in the first and second period...but they did fade in the third period. @@JoelER78 I mean, they clearly showed on the replay multiple times that the ref didn't have his hand up at the time Tampa touched the puck. How anyone has an issue with that being a good goal is beyond me. I should have been more specific but Tampa played like shit in the entire series almost. They got TRASHED games one and two, Played better in the next couple but not up to their level of play that has gotten them their previous two cups and it's understandable. Three years in a row of going to the Finals will wear out the squad. They had a great run but they just didn't look like themselves throughout this series.
@JoelER78
@JoelER78 Жыл бұрын
@@DannyPhantom992 You mean the linesman didn't have his hand up...no, maybe, he didn't, but, it was assumed after the puck crossed the red line that it'd be called icing...just like so many other NHL games during the season where the exact same thing happened. The NHL should make sure that linesmen are more consistent throughout the year, then maybe Hedman would've reacted differently... As to your issue with Tampa's play...well I'd argue they beat some pretty darned good teams to get to the Stanley Cup playoffs. Did you watch how they got there? They showed how banged up a lot of the players were...that could be a big reason why. But, I'd argue that they held in there in game 1. Obviously you are right for game 2. And, everyone has issues with how they played in the last game...but, I think they were competitive until the 3rd period (which is strange). They lost too much momentum? Colorado could smell the Cup? I don't know. Anyway, it is was it is, and I wouldn't count them out from being a strong team next year.

cheating? how exactly did they cheat, or do they 'cheat' anymore than any other team? Oh, wait....you are going to bring up that salary cap issue thing from last year, right? (or was it from 2 years ago?) That's not cheating because a lot of teams are over the salary cap in the playoffs!

@@JoelER78 LOL your attempt to excuse TBay's BOLD AND SHAMELESS CHEATING would be laughable if it wasn't pathetic. Come on, bro .. just admit it .. they LTIR'd their little way to Cup glory. BTW, Montreal didn't cheat. In fact, I think they were in way UNDER the cap. So basically what you're saying is that Montreal, even if like Tbay they had the space to add 2-3 more stars, wouldn't have been any better. Baloney. Just stop.

Did anyone notice the ref get checked? After the no icing call, the ref that made that call is up by the benches and the TB player checks the ref just after coming onto the ice. At About 12 seconds left.

The whole game was essentially a hissy fit by Tampa. Anyone else see the player shoot the puck at the ref after the boarding penalty where Kadri got drilled into the boards? Or the delay after every Avs goal so they could check with absolute certainty it was a goal. Like they were in disbelief anyone could score against them😂 Covid was the best thing that happened to Tampa, they got 2 cups from it

You’re the best player on your team, your season ends in 20 seconds if you don’t do something… so instead of grabbing ANY stick or just go all out without one, you decide the best course of action is to throw a tantrum and quit when your team needs you the most? I see why they lost, bunch of babies

Not a bad call, puck was going slow and Hedman slowed to a crawl. Lineman have the option to call BS and waive off the icing if a player is purposely not trying to chase the puck.
