I'll never forget the day Chester passed. My old band had a practice scheduled and we all showed up without really saying a word. We had never practiced it as a band but our guitarist started playing the intro to numb. Then our bassist joined in. Our drummer. Then my co vocalist and I performed the entire song by memory, and it to this day still feels special, Like there was a different energy in the room when it came over us. RiP Chester. I was just doing random stuffs then the news hit, and I was frantically asked everyone I knew (loved LP) just to be like “No please let it not be real”, and I was in an emotionless state. We held a memorial day for Chester in a Hardrock Cafe. About a month later or so I went to Australia, got ready to study my degree there and Numb played in Target. I was almost down on my knee crying, kept repeating “Rest Chester, it’s alright now”

Deftones is also another great example of incredible riffs with simplicity. In fact, Deftones is one of LP's biggest influences when it comes to their guitar works. It's like you could hear some elements of Stephen Carpenter in Brad Delsons riffs, especially when it comes to their early nu metal sound.

Had a lot of mixed emotions with this song. The fucking SECOND the guitar starts you're just smacked in the face with THAT sound. That Hybrid Theory/Meteora sound. Then the chorus kicks in and it's Chester just doing a vocal style he hadn't done really since Meteora. It made me so happy at first and then the chorus hit and I got so sad cause we'll never get this thing again. I hate that Chester is no longer with us. This was the band that got me into anything heavier then rap back in the day. It changed the path of my life in regards to music. It means SO much to me and I don't even think I realized it

I feel like Linkin Park is still ahead of its time, from Hybrid Theory - Living Things, they all sounded unique and fresh, The Hunting Party is amazing for being heavy, while One More Light on the other hand its a Pop Album and not to discredit them, i think they can make Pop music work, its just Chester's vocals were to raw for some of the songs. Still every album they made still sounded different from each other and still sounds they were ahead of the curb, even One More Light the pop music made sounded so much better then what other pop artist have made.

Mike is doing with this 20th anniversary edition the same as with the original album. They released Somewhere I Belong first, which was a more subtle approach to the sound they were known for with HT, but it was a bang too and could easily be compared to Lost. Then they released Faint, which, while it sounds even harder than Fighting Myself, it still hits harder than the former single. It's like Mike wants to repeat even the way they promoted the album. By the way, that backing vocals of Chester singing "inside of me" in the last chorus reminds me of Hoobastank. They do that a lot as well and it's a band of which I like many songs

An interesting about the intro I don't see anyone else talking about is the reversed intro has the exact same formula as Somewhere I Belong The message is reversed, but the order of the words still are reversed as well, just like how they did the guitar intro. Reversed, the order is 4 - 3 - 2 - 1, they clipped the audio tracks to put them back in the order of 1 - 2 - 3 - 4. The original message just reversed is "happen to this wanted never I." -> "I never wanted this to happen." So cool!

I have been a big Linkin Park fan since the Meteora era, my family and I have been big fans. but I am not used to hearing other people speak positively of them... it is so nice to hear somebody else really enjoy their music ❤️

I was listening to hybrid theory just today on the way to work and it hit me just how amazing it is that such an influential album to this day and 20 yrs later, every song still holds up and I honestly believe always will. Unless something incredibly drastic changes in music haha.

I can listen to Hybrid Theory and Meteora start to finish without skipping. Anytime I hear early LP it is instant nostalgia from my teenage years.

I love Linkin Park. One of the very few bands that had albums that I could listen to front to back, and they had 2 of them, Hybrid Theory and Meteora. They were my gateway into rock music at 10 years old when Hybrid Theory came out. I still listen to them more than 20 years later.

Linkin Park has such a unique sound that it's pretty much iconic. I can instantly tell by the opener for most of their songs that it's them playing. Chester left behind a legacy that no one could take away from him.

Kind of crazy how they released full albums, had the linkin park underground releases, and they still have songs from that era unreleased that are this high quality.

I'm super lucky and honored to have seen them at Pinkpop fest 2007, 2012, and Amsterdam in 2014. Hearing Fighting Myself really brings me back to the early days when you used to saw Linkin Park on MTV. Gosh.. i miss Chester

PLEASE do a Phrygian guitar cover! I learned of the Phrygian scale from you and you're the only great source of guitar play that truly bring the beauty of it out, in my opinion. You would make a beautiful cover!

I've been thinking about this song for six days and decided to deliver my story about Linkin Park that I had. When it comes to Linkin Park I believe I heard them first in 2005. At that time I experienced many different things for the first time: like anime called Naruto and I was very much into AMV's, and during one I heard "Somewhere I Belong" by Linkin Park. Since then it was the song that slowly became my favorite from Linkin Park. I enjoyed the sound of it more than any other and when I started to understand English language it resonated with me on a deeper level. Just like Chester I needed "to find something I wanted all along. Somewhere I belong.". I already found many people that I can call as my greatest friends and I still have my family that I deeply love. ❤Still this song "Fighting Myself" starts to resonates with me more than even that "Somewhere I Belong". When I think about it I remember every moment when I kept some secrets from my mom. I just didn't wanted to be "another source of problems for her". This is the lesson that I learned the hard way and I want other people to know it. It's important to adress the issues, that You are dealing with to people, that You can trust. Otherwise You will be overwhelmed with those problems, explode with "anger that is constantly inside" You and still become "another source of problems for the closest ones" , and feel like: "It would be better, if I would adress those problems way earlier" (just like me). That's a long story I know. But I think I needed to get it off from my chest. 😂Great reaction!😃
