Today I'm trying out the NIKON COOLPIX P1000 Clean HDMI out for the BlackMagic Atem Mini to see how well it works and what sort of imag I can get out of it.

Hello Tim the last video and the Moon was awesome . I am not very tech minded . but i am very impressed with the camera. as a female all i need is a basic camera and a good source of light . I am dying to get my hand on a drone tho .. maybe if you have one could you possibly do a review for me ? I would really appreciate it . Any way Tim great and informative Video really appreciate all the time you take to make these video's as we know just how long some can take . Kindest Regards My friend . Sarah

nothing about cameras have anything to do with gender! many of the best photographers I know are women - pick one up - take photos, and be proud of what you do!!! Drones are AWESOME

Good evening, my friend. Thank you for this beautiful explanation. A clean HDMI line has been obtained, but there is a problem. The camera screen turns off and I am filming through the YoloBox live broadcast. The image is only on the device. Thank you very much

Same here !! I use it on the Yolobox and yes , seems like camera screen will shut down as soon you connect the HDMI input into the Yolobox . Let me know if you found something else please . Thank you

G'day from NZ also. Great informative video. I've got a p1000 & love it. From Te Atatu peninsula, I can see people moving around on the Skytower observatory deck, I digress... Im just wondering how can I get a live view on a bigger screen ? Cheers

Hey Tim, Thanks for insights. So I have a Nikon D800 but it have failed to connect ( Am currently using an atem Mini extreme ). With a set up of 3 inputs from propresenter 7.5. I have ended up using Sony NXCAM. But I real want to use my Nikon.

I own a Coolpix P1000 and I hope to use it for Streaming. Do you know if the camera shuts down after 30 minutes? Normal video recordings do. Cheers.

Hi, does that mean that when outputting to hdmi there is no auto focus? Is it possible to operate the camera normally shooting stills with zoom and AF and have probably a copy of the image in the viewfinder display through hdmi? It doesn't even have to be clean, just to have a second external monitor for shooting.

How can I disable the "EYE SENSOR" ? It always switches back to the EYEPIECE when I put the camera into my underwater housing. Most Cameras have a selector with three options. 1)EYEPIECE 2)SCREEN 3) AUTO DETECT. My NIKON COOLPIX P1000 seems to only have two. 1) EYEPIECE 2) AUTO DETECT, i need SCREEN ONLY. Any Ideas?

Hey Tim. Thanks for posting the video. Do you know of any way to stop the camera turning off after 30 mins. Its a real shame as I am wanting to use it for low light video shooting band performances but would really like to avoid the 30 min shutdown. Are there any hacks around to do this? Thanks Jim

That video was built in to many cameras because of a european tax law. Taxes/duties on video cameras were much more than still's cameras and the definition of a video camera was that it could shoot video for more than 30 minutes. Most cut out at 29 minutes to avoid that. Silly huh...

Hi Tim, I have a P900 camera with a micro hdmi connector. Can I use a capture card to mirror the live view to another screen?

Once it’s an HDMI signal it’s generic so will follow any HDMI workflow. I often use a pass-through monitor, splitter, or ATEM mini if I want to record off the HDMI signal and monitor. Something like the Atomos Shogun, Blackmagic Video Assist or Yolobox Pro can record, monitor, and provide pass through

Hi Tim, I was hoping you could tell me what software you are using on your laptop to display live webcam feed from Nikon p1000 as I have done the settings as they are in your video but I cannot get a live feed from my p1000 to my laptop via the hdmi cable ?

Hiya. I was recording it to a black magic video assist at the time. More recent into the ATEM mini. If you want to view it as a webcam type feed to your pc or Mac, then you need something like the ATEM or elgato capture device

Tim Simpson Hi Tim just one more thing , oops I sound like Colombo lol , I bought a Zasluke 4K capture card from Amazon for £48 and tried it with p1000 as a webcam but it would not display through app called digicam but my d3400 will so is there a setting I’m not doing on the p1000 as it’s really frustrating to just plug in and go with d3400 and not so with p1000 ??? Any idea with zasluke or does it def need a higher end capture card ?? Thank you in advance 😀

Ciao, esiste un modo per vedere sia nel monitor esterno collegato tramite uscita hdmi e anche nel monitor della nikon p1000? Faccio dirette di partite di calcio e mi servirebbe vedere entrambe. Questo era possibile con la sony zve10, con questa non so perchè non sia possibile

Unfortunately not. it only does 1080p60. with Many cameras the HDMI out is really only there for monitoring rather than streaming as it wasn't a thing at the time

yes, the clean HDMI will work for a video capture lke the elgato capture devices, but there are camera that are a bit easier to work with to be honest. if you're looking for something in that same price range, check out the Sony ZV1
