NIKON COOLPIX P1000 | simple test photos in low light

Tonight I'm taking my nikon coolpix p1000 our for a simple test photos in low light. I'm just using it out of the box like most owners might to see see what it does as is. More detailed tests to come later. Is it a pro camera here .. not really no. Does it good a good job for people who don't want to spend thousands on bodies and lenses ... hell yeah!!

Great to hear! Even though it's the Nikon "point and click" range camera, and does have some real limitations, if you keep those in mind I find it can do som amazing stuff!

OMG...Tim!!! haha...I am so excited with camera all the time..haha...that lens you have is insane. Macro photography is something I would love to learn and explore... Whooooa...the moon is so sharp....Unreal...24-3000mm lens insaneee...impressive!!! The moon mode is soooo cool...I love ittt...Contrast is a lot better with the moon mode.. And what about the noise with this camera in low light?? Great review of this camera.. Thank you so much....

Hello Tim. I have seen your video on the P1000 in low light. Well done! I am looking to photograph birds at night and while it work well in night mode, the flash must be raised and it will frighten the birds. Is there a way to overcome this?

I want to shoot an evening engagement video. It will be low light under a tree with string lights. Will the moon mode work well for this while taking video? Will this offer 20 still pics in this mode as well?

yeah I'm really enjoying it. I have to be honest - it's not a pro camera, but it's really is a versatile camea and is amazing for the price.

Hi Tim, firstly thanks for the content once again. Secondly, Is it just me, or did that moon photo seem very slightly out of focus? Perhaps it's just the video compression?

Some of the shot's were digital + optical zoom just to see what it can do. It's optical zoom is up to 3000mm

Hi there. I am a beginner so forgive me for the silly question but when you shoot in moon mode..does it flash ? I want to use it to take pics of foxes so I don't want to scare then

no it doesn't use flash - you can also disable the flash in settings

I owned one, Once you get bored of photographing the moon, And start taking shots of other things the tiny sensor let's the images down, I sold mine after a couple of weeks,

it sure does have its limits and yeah it's a coolpix range camera. For the price it does to some pretty cool stuff. The bird mode is pretty good for motorsports I found and it's been quite useful getting photos from Boxing / Muay Thai events. I wish they'd done a better job with the HDMI interface more than any other niggle :D
