The only thing that I would chose a mirrorless over a dslr is electronic shutter…. It is quite a feature. Plus Z lenses gives you that sharpness that dslr just doesn’t deliver somehow…. If you have a d750 dont sell it. Its a gem. But if you need to sell it to buy mirrorless by all means do it. 😁

Good comparison video of the two camera bodies. The D750, in my opinion, is still a very popular camera(even stepping into 2022); hence the new/used market cost. I have the D780 and I like that it carries some mirrorless features of the Z6. Would you consider making a comparison video of the Nikon D780 and Z6 II?

I would love to upgrade, but i'm not in a hurry because i'm just a hobbyist. Waiting for the things to unravel with the Z9 and maybe some of the new technology trickles down into new Z bodies (Z8?). This test could be really useful if you got the testing more close to real life usage. With a mood to help you get better tests in the future, I would go test the raising exposure or even better raise shadows and lower highlights on the first images from the forest. There we could see how good shadows get bright and usable. On the test for high iso i would do that with an image of a living room instead of a white statue in front of white bg which helps hide the start of artifacts in iso800. A scene of low light in a living room would show immediately the benefits of the new sensor, if there are any. After all your tests I got the information that new sensor is good when you want to raise 5 steps an image underexposed which is something you never do really. I hope i dont upset you much, I just got the time to write these so maybe I can help a bit. I am now going to change maybe to z6 II after 5 years of working with d750 and more than 150K mostly studio images.

This was a good comparison for the sensor but there's a lot more to the z6 II than just the sensor. I had a d750 until it had an accident. I upgraded to the z6 II at the first of the year. The focus is so much better on the z6 II. I hardly miss any shots. No more focus and recompose. It's also a great camera for astrophotography. The EVF blackout is annoying but maybe it can be fixed with a firmware update? The battery life is fine so that's not much of an issue. Even if you only used a single focus point, the fact that you have the whole screen instead of the middle of the screen to move the focus point around, makes the z6 II a better choice. You didn't even bring up the lenses. One of the advantages of the z mount is that it allows them to design the lenses better. You get sharper corners with the z glass than the older f glass. There's very little focus breathing. This is really big if you use it for video or if you focus stack your images. The advantages of the z6 II are greater than that of the d750. There will be more firmware updates that will take this camera to higher levels.
@theCameraVille
@theCameraVille 2 жыл бұрын
Focus recompose ! I havent done that in a long time. We might be spoiled haha. Astrophotography will greatly benefit from the BSI. I mentioned about the blackout in my other videos ( some of the die hard fans dislike it when I talk about the black out.) but if they can fix the black out, I will sell my D500 away . I think around 8:38 I briefly touch on the Z glass. I dont have a full catalog just yet on the Z lens. I think once I hit over 10 videos of Z glass, I can really pull that point out more. They are sharp so far but pricy but used market not so bad now than before.

@@theCameraVille imagine if they make a baby z9 in aspc to replace the d500. It wouldn't have the 8k video and maybe not even 30 fps but 20 fps would be fine. I don't even need a camera like that but I would probably buy it.

@carlmcneill1139
@carlmcneill1139 2 жыл бұрын
@@fanzzzi the focus in low light is supposed to be better with the z6 II but I haven't had much chance to use it. Hudson Henry has a video on how well the z6 II and z7 II perform in low light for astrophotography. He said you can hand hold focus on a bright star or planet using the auto focus. But you have to have the settings right for that. Event and wedding photography shouldn't be that dark.

Raising shadows with maintaining better color than D750, makes the Z6ii images look better and easier to work with. Image detail is about the same. The BSI sensor of Z6ii, which also there is a BSI in the new hybrid D780 (sensor of Z6), this BSI sensor is a bit brighter and retains better color and maybe more detail when raising shadows so better for post production. The biggest improvement of the Z system vs the glorious Nikon DSLRs does not come from advancements in sensor technology, but rather from the new flange which allowed Nikon to design superior lenses, compared to their F mount counterparts. Therefore IMHO it does not make sense using an adapted 50 1.8G on the Z6ii. It would have been interesting to see the difference with a Z50 1.8S, which is said to be a vast improvement compared to G version, mounted on the mirrorless so that we could appreciate the differences between the two systems.

I've had the d750 for 7 years and from the beginning on it showed extreme reddish artefacts when exposed correctly on PC (all state of the art Software), especially in the lower bottom of the picture and the corners (top of sensor) when contacted Nikon GER they said it's normal behavior. So when raising exposure in post like you, not more than 0,25 ... Afterwards all is falling into pieces. It's a shame even my canon 500d is better

The Z6ii lost the ability to set shutter speed using the rear command dial in all modes including S and M. I can change the shutter speed using the front command dial in S and M modes by inverting the main/sub command dials in the custom control settings. I can also change the shutter speeds in S and M modes using the touch screen. Therefore, the problem appears to be exclusively related to the back command disk. I have reset the camera to default settings to make sure that the menu setting is not the problem. The camera firmware has been updated to version 1.30. The camera was purchased new earlier this year. I was able to set the shutter speed using the rear command dial before updating the firmware. Has anyone come across this problem? I am trying to determine if it is a mechanical issue or a firmware update related issue. I googled the issue to see if it was related to the recent firmware update to version 1.30 and didn't see any posts about the update

The D750 is a very good camera but the Z6 /Z6II are clear improvements and handle better . The lag on the Z6II is minimal and has a higher shutter speed limit than the D750. No way a D750 is worth $1600 plus these days. I have the Z6II for paid work with a Z5 for backup and I prefer my “lowly Z5 “ to the D750 , but that’s for my user case of Portraits , family portraits and real estate work.

Interesting 6:47 you show the z6ii maintaining color accuracy, while the 750 goes purple.. Meanwhile in your Z7II vs Z6II video, it shows the 6 going purple while the 7 keeps color accuracy. Just a suggestion for these dynamic range tests. It would be much more 'real world' to show you showing shots underexposed by 1/2/3 stops (and then brightening w exposure slider to get proper exposure) You could also do a run down of overexposure and either pulling down exp slider, or pulling down 'highlights' or 'whites' The whole "let's take a nearly black frame and increase the exposure by 5 stops" is basically a useless test for 99% of photographers. I'm a professional and I really wanted to see what it was like when you slightly adjusted files to show DR.. not increasing exposure by 5 stops.. Other than that.. your vids are pretty good!!

Oh yea I will include that in the video on the over exposing portion. That will be interesting to see in future videos. Thanks for the heads up ~! Through out the journey in making these videos, I noticed folks want to see the ultimate conclusion just to keep their attention tuned in. I used to make incremental adjustment and folks would tune out and also the video gets fairly long. I'm slowly crafting each video accordingly so I will take your suggestions no prob~! As for the Z6 vs Z7, I had to push it to a point where something breaks in the shadow. To some maybe pointless to others that's what they want to see right off the bat. When I used to do Pentax reviews, my videos per comparison was 40 mins long , 3 video for 1 test LOL. thanks for your input cheers~!

@@theCameraVille And I hope you know I'm not being negative, you've got some good content and I know it takes a lot of time to do it right. I hear you, it can be a tough line to walk between keeping it short, and keeping it detailed. I brought up my thoughts, because I do think most people that will come to your videos, are people who will want to see the true differences between the cameras in real world situations!! Another reason I bring up the highlights/shadows sliders tests is this.. My first pro camera was a D700. Beautiful files, snappy AF.. It was great for highlight recovery..not so much for shadows.. then I went to a D810 and it was the complete opposite.. so it slightly changed the way I shot from there on out.

I've just bought the Z6ii and am quite disappointed with it. I have Vs 1.3 firmware, but the autofocus is a real problem. I shoot street and fast moving events (dancing girls, Indian festivals, marching bands), and the wretched AFC has so many problems. I'm sticking with my Fuji X-T3's because I just don't miss any images with them. With similar focal length lenses on the Nikon, if there is any kind of strong back-lighting, the autofocus just cannot cope. It starts jumping around and goes here and there, instead of on my subject. I've tried all the different boxes and settings, but it does not make much difference. I was shocked because everybody bags out Fuji cameras for their 'terrible autofocus', so I thought the Nikon would nail my moving subjects. Unless they bring out another firmware update to fix this shortly, this will be going on the market to get sold off.

@@theCameraVille Thanks dude for getting back. I watched your video, and yes for video seems the Nikon is a bit better than Canon. However, I shoot zero video (hence no problem with my X-T3's), and in stills, I still find the Z6ii doesn't focus well into strong back lighting. I'm sitting on it a while and seeing if there is a firmware update (Z7 got one today). If it fixes it, I'll hang onto it along with my Fuji's (Nikon's images are nice). If the autofocus on the Nikon stays the same - it will get sold off.
