The difference between the original DS and the DSLite is insane. They are practically the same except for hardware, and only 2 years apart but the original feels ancient while the DSLite has held up pretty well. I got my Lite in 2008/2009 (after the release of the DSi) and knew a lot of people with one, but I’ve never met anyone with an original DS. I didn’t even know they existed when I was a kid

I remember getting a dsi xl for my birthday and was super excited playing games on a big touch screen. My favorites were definitely Mario Kart DS and New super Mario bros.

Yes! I owned the classic gray FAT Nintendo DS. I spent all my time on that thing playing Nintendogs, Warioware, and my old GBA games. All my good friends had one, so when we hung out we would always mess around on pictochat for a while and played games that could use the DS Local Wireless (yes, it had close range wireless capability). In Nintendogs, if two people were close to each other and both walking their dogs in game, they could run into each other. You could even trade items with other nearby players.

Oh how I remember mine, I was going into the Army when these were revealed and when I finished basic, I bought one. The DS served me well my full Army career, 5 straight years and a deployment.

I never truly experienced my ds lite as a kid, because nobody else I knew had one. I loved that damn thing.

Man I had the DS Lite, and that thing gave me so many memories. I also remember specifically wanting a Blue DSi because of the camera 😭

The DS is a memory Maker, such a great console in my opinion

Mine still working but I don't playing it anymore but it gives me a lot of smile and fun while playing it, i still remember the day my grandparents gave it to me.

Everyone is always forgetting this model exists, and I dont know why, yes the DS Lite is a legendary handheld, and the DSI AND DSI XL are also amazing, but the original DS is amazing too, it looks and feels a lot more premium, and it has its own little wrist strap, plus the GBA games don't stick out when you put them in unlike the DS Lite, its just awesome man.

I was so excited to open this on the Christmas of '04. I played lots of the First Hunt demo and Mario 64 DS.

Hearing the power sound makes me nostalgic. Ah the good old days

ive had my new 3ds xl for quite a while now, and its safe to say that i still love it like when my family first bought it!

Bought two broken ones a couple of weeks ago and repaired them into one working one, never had one growing up (Had a GameBoy advance SP instead) but I’m loving it!

I remember I had a DS Lite. Bring that thing everywhere I went, either with New Super Mario Bros. or Pokémon Diamond. Ever since then Nintendo has been with me my whole life.

I grew up with kids around me always having stuff I didn’t , I remember them all having ds’s consoles toys and stuff , and I barely having any , now that I’m grown up and more money to my disposal and not being controlled by my “video games are from the devil “ mom , I’m in the process of buying everything I ever wanted as a kid , those old LEGO sets aren’t cheap on bricklink but I want my sealed toys (I’m 19 , I just want the childhood I never had , and that includes a ds and some games I wanted to play ) and now this one is just of personal preference but I’ll save to buy off someone an Excalibur prime account , since when the game came out I was still forbidden off of games and I literally couldn’t even play the game

I got the DS Lite (Cobalt Blue) for my fifth birthday. It was the only present I got, and I loved it to bits, I rarely put it down. It's what sparked my love of Games today.

I remember when I got my DSi and got Pokemon white version on it, it was about the only game I had and the only game I ever really played- I explored it so much I spent 400 hours on the same save file just cause I’d take it everywhere with me and play it as much as I could cause I adored it... really magical feeling I wish I could get again

Never owned an original DS, I had (and still have) a DS Lite and a DSi.

I had a DSi and it was my childhood but now in 2023 my ds still alive and worked charging and still playing it.

reminded me of my nintendo ds from 2006 which my father bought me searched it, found it, it directly turned on (hasn´t seen any charger for 10 years) and played super mario

Bon fires and Lots of fattening foods was the best , when I was about 11 I think I remember getting a 3DS on my birthday when they were new like when Mario cart 7 came out. Those are one of the memories I would go back to. Man time flies by so fast ☺️

I remember preordering the og DS at game stop then being amazed when I finally got it. People don’t understand what it was like going from the gba to this back in the day. Even if the only good game at launch was super Mario 64 DS lol

Y’know for 2 or at least more call of duty games being on the DS on an unexpected and surprising port compared to the home console. This feels extremely rare seeing something like this really.
