@@clxvdsxvl it didn’t sell well due to lack of third party support. The proprietary mini dvds made it so many third party games couldn’t be put on the GameCube discs. So either don’t play third party games or get both the GameCube and Xbox or PS2. Which wasn’t an option for a lot of people. Plus the majority of gamers didn’t care much for the Nintendo IPs

@@Ebidle that's true, but i think nintendo has always had an issue being seen as a secondary console. Even me now, pc is primary and i have a switch for stuff I can't get on steam.

Two points: the original Xbox didn't sell any better than the Gamecube (I think it sold worse) and the Gamecube still outsold the Wii U by 2:1

Izar what games did you get? My first gamecube games I got we're Mario kart Double Dash and MADDEN NFL 2004.A friend I know gave me hers when I was 6.

Wave Race was fun. My copy broke unfortunately. On Madden 2004, Michael Vick was God in that game. I also had Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 and Spongebob BFBB given to me as well along with Madden and Mario Kart.

I remember when I was younger. I had a CRT TV, a VCR, my brother had a Windows 98 computer, my brother also had a VCR/DVD player, in our living room, we had a huge CRT TV, and I had a Pac-Man plug-and-play.

I know it’s stupid. The Super Nintendo had a design that didn’t look like any console I knew but it still sold well. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. You might miss out on something great. Like the awesome games the GameCube had.

@@springier6869 I wouldn't consider it stupid, I would consider it unusual. The shape of the body complimented the design of the console nicely. The analog triggers allow for precision in racing games. The ABXY buttons were later out in a way so the A button was the first you'd press if you didn't know how to play a game. Overall the only subpar things about the controller are the C stick and dpad.

the main reason the PS2 beat it is because lots of people bought BOTH of them which boosted PS2 sales more than it really seems.

For being so small and still being more powerful than the ps2 is awsome

CAX117 i think it happens a lot with nintendo "recently" people go for graphics or the dvd thing in the ps2 ignoring nintendo's great offer, when the next gen comes people realize what they ignored....but still ignore the current one

The Gamecube is the reason why Nintendo decided to go "their own way" in the console market: it was pretty powerful and technically on par with the competition and it had a good amount of third party titles. Nonetheless it failed. It's ironic that today many people complain that new Nintendo consoles should be more "like the Gamecube".

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is coming out for the Nintendo Switch only

I wish other companies such as Sony and Microsoft would share their games to Nintendo consoles, and Nintendo would do the same.

I am and I don’t have a Nintendo switch but I have a new 3ds xl and yes I play smash bros on my 3ds .

This is why emulation is a thing. I have grown tired of waiting for Nintendo to offer a proper virtual console with more modern machines that has Gamecube games. I'm also tired of not being able to transfer digital copies of games that I have purchased on other Nintendo systems to something like the Switch. Instead they expect us to purchase a mini classic system with just a handful of games (unless you mod it). So I decided to make my own virtual console on my PC. Not paying $200 for a copy of Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn. It's not like Nintendo themselves see any money from buying a used copy and they sure as hell don't seem to want to allow people to purchase them easily on their newer hardware. They complain about piracy and emulation but their own pigheadedness is the greatest contributor to people looking elsewhere for their classic games.
