Thanks for making this video! I've done plenty of modding and repairs on the GBA and SP, but the DS lite was pretty intimidating to me with how much more there seems to be to it. Your video helped me to realize that my power issue was actually a bad charger port rather than a flat battery like I had suspected. Great guide, thank you. I took apart and shell swapped quite a few DS Lites a few years ago, and they never gave me any trouble. Great console! However, when trying to replace the broken charging port of a DSi XL a while ago, I ended up ripping off the solder pads from the mobo, because I wasn't using a heater after desoldering the pins. This is a very good idea, and I will try this out next time. After breaking the mobo I bought another one to replace the broken board, only to realize that the cartridge slot wasn't working. But since the DSi XL is fairly easy to hack, I just put CFW on it and have been using it ever since with basically my entire library of DS games on it including my GBA games. The screens of the DSi XL are superb imo, especially when comparing them to how DS games look on a 3DS XL since they look much crisper.

It definitely took a while to master. It's all about having the springs on the correct side but even then, it can be fiddly!

Long shot here but what would you check next if F1, F2 ,em10, charging port, battery terminal, power switch and even the L2 all have been tested and work but still just getting a orange flash with no charge or power on? I did replace charging port and the F1 and F2 just incase they were weak.

My DS sat with a dead battery for over a year and would only charge for a second then the light would go out so I spent 15 minutes just plugging in and unplugging my DS to get the light to come back on for a second at a time and I think it eventually put enough energy back into the battery to bring it back to life because then it just started charging like it’s fine.

What if my DS lite does not charge at all? The orange light does not even show up.

I would still check the same steps as in this video. Try a different battery, a different charger, check the fuses. And you could also check for a voltage when it's plugged in. If there is no success with any of these, I'd try the socket replacement like I did here.

Hi! I don't know if anyone could help me, however i think that while opnening my ds lite i broke the socket where you put the small cable of the touch screen, the one near of the black and white cables. I think it is the one of the touch screen digitizer. Does anyone know if i can repair that eventually or if i can find any replacement part anywhere? I think that maybe one pin broke (i was trying to remove the BIOS but it was strongly attached) and now it does the flickering. I was thinking of changing the screens anyway beacuse of black stains, so maybe it could be possible that something else broke even if there wasn't any flickering before. I still don't understand what should i buy for them, which screen etc. So, any suggestions? Thanks

You can get a replacement part but it's not easy to fit. That part is just for the touch layer so there's always the option of a game boy macro

You mean by buying only a "new" (used) bottom part in order to replace all of that including the motherboard? I found out that a complete used Nintendo cost me less than repairing mine myself. Obviously there's the affective aspect of doing that. However, I did some research after my comment and i found out that that piece is called P6 and is replacable but with some effort and tools that i dont have, its actually the first time that i do something likes this, i just wanted to check why my ds didn't charged and i found out It was the battery that wasn't correctly connected to the pins.

@@Ermil04 I meant that if your touch screen was no good, you could use the main motherboard to build a game boy macro, a single screen unit for playing game boy advance games

The problem with these is that there are so many potential ways for it to fail to charge. First thing would be to try a different battery.

Can’t you just add a USB C charger? Chip away some of the housing?

Yes there are some available that fit neatly. I haven't tried one yet. In this case I wasn't certain it was the socket causing the fault until I replaced it. I'd more likely use the USB-C kit on one where I knew it would work
