Hey man this is a relatively accurate in terms of their usefulness you have it pretty right, but you seem to have some misunderstandings about status effect build up on certain types of enemies. The Samurai you are using break (earth) on (Honda is his name) isn't getting the earth break status because he has an earth guardian that resists it. if you did that to a different human character without an earth resistance it would work fine. So the earth status isn't bad against humans, just bad against Honda. Same for the fire on the ninja frog. He is resistant to Fire and poison as those are the weapons of ninja in this game (Bombs, nutgall broth, etc.), but vulnerable to lightning water and wind. Thats why it isn't building up on him. I have done a lot of other incidental testing on status effects since i'm an onmyo mage in this game and most humans, skeletons and the yoki (common large demon guys with axes and swords) are vulnerable to all effects. Most Yokai have a specific colour on them that tells you their element type plainly (purple is earth, water is blue, etc.) and others like the tengu demon birds...look like fucking birds and are obviously wind Yokai. Same goes for the nurikabe (demonic walls). They are made out of earth, so naturally they can't be given break as a status, just like Honda. Hope this helps someone who comes across it and maybe gives a bit of info for your next video tracerbeast.

This is full of misinformation... Fire Does DoT, Earth doubles Ki Damage upon YOUR hit, Lightning slows enemies, Wind reduces enemies attack damage and Water reduces enemies physical defenses. All elements can be applied at the same rate, some enemies/bosses just have higher resistances to certain elements, all elements are viable. please correct the video or remove it.

Warrior of the east is an earth character of you check his armor. The reason you were not getting earth on him is because he's resistant to earth.

You used wind and fire against a boss that is resistant, and also earth against the earth resistant samurai, so your examples might have unintentionally skewed the results unless you tested them more offscreen. Also, Lightning is a fantastic element for what it does, because I believe it stacks with the sloth talisman for additional slow. All in all, good video, very informative.

You picked honda to demonstrate a human enemy for Earth? honda is resistant to earth dude..... Humans can also be discorded, in fact the easiest way to apply discord is with spirit guardian talismans. Atlas bear talismans can instantly apply shock debuff if any amount of it's lighnting damage touches an enemy, same for enko and the fire debuff. Some of the most poweful spirits are op cuz their talismans either knock down enemies or apply elemental debuffs crazy fast. So use a weapon with a different element, use a talisman for the other, now you got discord.

You didn't talk at all about which elements are weak against other elements. Like those black slimes and Umi-Bozu are water creatures. They take 0 water damage, and don't get the status. They are weak against fire, which is the opposite of most games. That's actually the information I'd like to know, is which elements are strong against which elements.

Water shots + big bomb = win, its the fastest way I am able to apply discord from what I've all tested.

You're putting out a lot of misinformation buddy. Your rankings are your rankings, but the info about them is wrong. You used elements on enemies that were resistant to those elements.

If you go to the amrita memories and go to the human enemies and the yokai enemies it tells you the elemental weaknesses they have. Most of the yokai don't have one unless they are bosses but the human enemies have a lot. It seems like a general rule for which element is strong against which element is: Fire>Water, Water>Lightning, Lightning>Wind, Wind>Earth, Earth>Fire. At least that's for the humans. Most of the yokai just have random weaknesses that are specific to that enemy type.

Also you CAN apply discord to humans, but it's extremely difficult as apart from bosses, most just die before you can. William himself can get discord on him too, easy to get when fighting the Onmyo mages later in the game, but it's not quite as debilitating for him... still sucks though, would not recommend

It isn't called discord. That status effect is called "Confusion". Go see the in-game info for Yamata-no-Orochi and Thousand Eyes, they're both resistant to confusion and I have tested trying to apply water and lightning on them at the same time, at least on thousand eyes what you call "discord" doesn't work soooo... Connect the dots.

Lots of misinformation here. First everything generally applies the same and is only dependent on their resistances and weaknesses. Earth allows you to do double ki damage on enemies with the debuff. Wind only reduces the enemy's attack damage significantly. Also not important, but why do people keep calling it Discord when the game clearly says it's called Confusion? lol. Might be a correlation with Overwatch, Zenyatta and the yingyang symbol....

So the reason the Earth debuff keeps falling off is that it is actually pretty easy to apply but it only doubles the ki damage of your next hit on the enemy with the debuff. So if you hit an enemy with an Earth effect, apply the effect, and then immediately hit them again, the earth debuff will apply and then be removed immediately. You still get the extra ki damage, it just doesn't stay because it's not a continuous effect. You can test this by using an earth weapon and just doing single hits. One of the easy ways to apply discord is to use a weapon with water damage, equip a guardian spirit with lightning, and then use the Guardian onmyo talisman. If your talisman guardian hits your enemy then you just hit them with your water weapon and bam, almost instant debuff. You can also just use two weapons, one with water and one with lightning and it works pretty well too. Especially since you can get multiple max ki pulse stance buffs that stay when you switch weapons. I have seen videos of people using stuff like dual katana/tonfa builds with different elements constantly using Flux II and weapon swapping to get the debuff and then spam high damage skills with the extra Ki regen from flux. Pretty crazy stuff.

thanks for this!!! i like using lightening and slot at the same time....just makes things funny. my wep has water, i never noticed that discord thing but it makes sense as to why things died...as i would forget to put my lightening back on and when i did it seemed like it was doing way more damage.

I'm pretty sure what I'm about to say is common knowledge, so please pardon me. But, the projectile spells are god tier at inflicting ailments. 2-3 shots is usually all I need. Too bad that's pretty much half of the cast I have and ailment infliction being their only use.

Bro, you really gotta learn and understand the elemental match ups in Nioh. Just about every enemy has inherent resistances and weaknesses. Every element has the same base accumulation rate, which this is affected by resistances, weaknesses and accumulation bonus on weapons/armors/accessories. Also, Earth increases Ki damage taken by afflicted enemies, so it becomes easier to put them into a Zero-Ki state. Discord (or confusion as it's also referred to) causes humans to take more ki damage and prevents ki recovery and nullifies yokai ki entirely. Additionally they take more damage too.

imo fire is by far the best choice, most yoki are inherently weak to fire, I'm Lv325 which is what the game put my character after i downloaded the patch, i havne't used a book of Reincarnation yet, & the game didn't put any of my stats at 99, my burn effect does around 1800-1900 a tic that's with the new reforge options you can get though & Kato as my main spirit. water is nice but i found it's only about a 15% hit to there defense when i was fighting this same toad, weakness talisman reduces it by a much larger amount.

Did you forget poison? Granted it's more of a debuff, but it does work to stack on for discord/confusion/get wrecked debuff if I remember correctly. It's like fire burn, but slower stronger ticks and much longer lasting.

It those scorch damage over time. Consecutive fire damage when inflicted.

Fire works great with the spear, in high stance, with the multi-stab combo. Easy trigger. It was my favorite for dealing with the owlsy fuckers.

But ninjitsu bombs makes fire debunks stack like crazy. In the video you looked like you were applying fire with a kusruagami

So what I'd like to know is how this works with weapons. So if I have a weapon with 200 attack power, and I have 50% water, does that mean I'm doing 200 damage, then an ADDITIONAL 100 water damage? Or, is it that I'm doing 200 damage TOTAL, and half of that is considered water? Or is it not talking about damage at all, and it's just a 50% chance to inflict water status? How does the water status apply over time? Does the % chance of inflicting it change if you're using a slower weapon, or is it best to use fast weapons to get as many chances as possible? If I get a weapon with two elemental types, is that just constant discord madness? Can I make a sword that will create effects that last longer? Or is it just a base amount that is only changed with magic? Would love some more details about this, but I'm not seeing them anywhere so far.

I have also read from multiple sources that water makes it so that other elements stack easier, making it easier to get discord if water is the first elemental effect on an enemy. IF that's actually true then water is just insane.

I love it when I get fire and poison on the enemy. I walk away and laugh. Or when I'm on a high plane, and an enemy can't get to me, ill throw bombs and poison shurikens.

BIG SECRET: Before the tiger boss, 2Nd fase i guess there is a east gate that have tons of revenants and a shrine ! So basically you try easily pick the big guys and one of the revenants have an eletric weapon and more ... So basically you get a great weapon right at the beggining of the game ;) And you still have fun learning how to beat revenants.

Lighting is # 3 because Sloth exists? I mean....wow.... were just going to ignore the fact that the lightning status effect actually STACKS with sloth? Which means it makes the bosses even slower. Not to mention, when they are slower, the lightning status effect is even easier to maintain since you will hit them more often.

Sloth Talisman is way too broken for a game that's not even that hard. I'm banning it, personally.

Gonna disagree with you on the fire damage, i use fire ALOT and i never have issues applying it to any enemies unless they are resistant. Infact my fire ticks for like 80-100 damage every tick (i do use a high spirit/magic build) so i tend to use fire alot when i'm clearing levels or on certain bosses as the added damage is useful. That said i will agree water is powerful vs bosses and is my go to in alot of scenarios and works on most enemies. It should also be noted that lightning STACKS with sloth... you can apply both and bring an enemy to a crawl its immensely effective. The rest was great info and i wasn even aware of discord and i'm nearly at the end of the game.... would have loved to know that earlier.

I use fire a lot as a ninja and most often see Discord trigger when using living weapon, since those add elemental damaging attacks. Depending on the spirit's special attack, some seem to apply their debuff pretty easily. Also, if you're playing co op, as long as you use a different element from your friend, Discord's pretty easy to apply. Didn't realize how awesome water was, though. I will say that as far as getting elements inflicted on me, wind is my least favorite for sure. That DPS loss hurts so bad and makes Raven Tengu even more annoying :( Just out of curiosity, is that trophy that pops for "confusing an enemy for the first time" because of the discord debuff? I got it early on and am not sure how or why. Or is confuse a separate debuff?

On the defensive side... how much is the vs element attribute? Is vs fire 100 -> immune to fire?

Thanks for watching! I wanted to use only weapons to trigger these status effects to see the viability of the element, except in the case of trying to trigger discord. Every enemy will have their own resistances and weaknesses to elements, and elemental status effects are affected by that. Every play-style will be different, and people will choose a different element that best benefits them. Tell us what your favorite element is and why you use it!

This is bullshit quite frankly. Yes they are hard to put on... because your test subjects are resistant to those elements. All the elements have the same recurrent damage by default. Earth increases the Ki damage taken by enemies, to the point that one kick can annihilate the Ki of most human enemies. Lightning is for the people who don't wanna use up 6 5 or 4 capacity points on Sloth + Very few enemies ae resistant to it.

God, this videos is terrible. Fire was taking forever because the frog has a lot of fire resistance. Earth was not sticking with Honda because he has a ton of earth resistance. You picked the worst enemies to show those effects.
