Seriously the opening riff is just so recognizeable. It has a dark and grungy beauty to it as well. One of the greatest bands of all time for sure. Too bad Kurt isn't with us anymore.

If there's one thing I took away from Nirvana, it's that pain is very real no matter how small it might seem on the outside and the degree of pain is relative to how much you've experienced before. Eventually you become numb I guess. I first loved Nirvana when I was a little and no matter what music I got into throughout life, I always came back to them, especially in the bad times. As an adult in my late 20s now, I come back to Nirvana and smile with nostalgia but also in a self reflective way. I smile like you would seeing a kid be young, innocent, dumb and happy. In a way it makes me remember my younger self like he's my little brother. I look back and smile because the pain I felt and related to back when I was a teenager was so insignificant to what I can deal with now as a stronger person. I smile at the victory of it almost. There were times when I genuinely couldn't bare to live and couldn't imagine actually living any more into the future. I swear to you with all sincerity I genuinely hit lows that were so dark I couldn't conceive of the idea of things getting better and having a life worth living. But here I am, pretty content, I made it. Sounds dramatic I know. Just another reason why I smile at it. I almost rolled my eyes reading back lol. But at the time, that is genuinely how I felt. Just complete doom and darkness, and Nirvana was the only place I could go to to at least feel something. Nirvana taught me that pain is very real but life goes on and you become stronger no matter how little you believe that at the time. Whatever you feel right now will be different in the future. I understand why Kurt decided to end it, I just wished he hung on a bit longer, he would have made it I'm telling you. He just needed to survive that rock bottom.

Most of the time, he'd fuck them up on purpose. IIRC, he grew to hate Smells Like Teen Spirit because fans only liked its sound, so he'd butcher it from time to time (especially on TOTP, but that was for a different reason).

Music still has passion homie, you might be looking in the wrong place is all. I know you you don't mean anything by it, and your comment is just reminiscence, but it's p antithetical to the core beliefs of Nirvana. The People are still out there, there are kids with the same passion and raw talent and energy as Kurt Cobain. There are kids out there making music inspired by the same people you admire. Music was as corporate and manufactured back then as it is today. Nirvana was special because they were an affront to everything before them, and everyone around them. It's easy, with the lense of time, to look back and think "these guys were the greats, they don't do it like this anymore!", but people said that about Hendrix when Nirvana was on the radio. This is a good song though, and their sound is something unique, so if you prefer the safety of this to the new and unfamiliar? Who the fuck am I to judge? Just don't bitch about the golden age of music being over, because you sound like the same people who bitched about Nirvana being too new school

I live in Reading, but back then lived in a different country. I gree up on this music, we used to wear Nirvana tshirts, it was cool years and fun to be a teen during those times. This generation is totally different. But one greatful thing is the technology existed back then. We wouldn’t have all this videos and sound recordings from back then. Its preserved FOREVER!

Come as you are, as you were, As I want you to be As a friend, as a friend, as an old enemy Take your time, hurry up The choice is yours, don't be late Take a rest, as a friend, as an old memory. Memory, memory, memory. Come doused in mud, soaked in bleach As I want you to be As a trend, as a friend, as an old memory. Memory, memory, memory And I swear that I don't have a gun No I don't have a gun(4x) Memory Memory

As growing up in Ballard, Washington and Seattle. I was 15 years old just about to turn 16 and it was the best year of my life. My first love, my first time driving a car and I spent most of the year on a beach. All I listen to was Nirvana Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots and anything else in the entire grunge scene.

I managed to replicate this exact tone with 10-52 strings , 1 humbuckle pick up, small clone chorus EHX pedal. DS-2 on chorus riff. N that’s it. Gain on 4. Bass on 4. Treble on 6. Middle on 5.
