Hi Dave. It was great to meet up recently and I’m so glad you are sharing info on other cars like my ARIYA. You offered a great introduction to the ARIYA and I’m really excited to see how I and our car will come across when the interview is shared. I would just like to add, mainly to address some of the comments that have been made and will no doubt come, that I’m not suggesting that this is the best EV available, nor even the best family EV, but it was the best EV for us at the time we purchased it. The styling is to our taste, the practicality suits our family, it can tow our trailer tent, the price we paid was brilliant, and significantly below the list price and finally it came from a dealer who I have great experience with previously and a dealer network who I have been using for years and trust. These are all elements that combine to make us incredibly pleased with our purchase, but I am happy to admit that other cars may offer features and statistics that blow this out of the water, still we have no plans to change our ARIYA for the foreseeable future. Thanks again for sharing a great video Dave. I look forward to the next one! Take care!

Hi Phil, what is range like towing your trailer tent? I’ve got one on order and the only question I have is range when towing a camping trailer. Any indication of what I can expect will help me plan summer! Thanks

@@AndyJackson-ht9qb hi Andy. So on our Easter trip towing the trailer tent, with car full and a roofbox on the car, cruise at 60 on the motorway and keeping up with traffic on the a/b roads, we managed to get 3.2miles/kWh over a 300mile round trip.

That’s super - much better than I expected. Thanks for the info - it’s hard to come by at the moment.

Hi Dave, greetings from Oxford. Nissan announced the Aria a long time a go, I mean years, and never explained the delay. It was of interest to me at the time, given the lead the Leaf had at the time, yes, it was that long ago. I ended up down sizing from a Mercedes C200 estate to my first and only EV to date, a BMW i3. The BMW is now payed off, and I plan to keep it until the Tesla compact is available. Surprisingly I have not missed the space of the Mercedes, and the i3 has been a smashing introduction to EV ownership.

As a Tesla driver, I found this very interesting - thanks. Looking forward to more in the series. Would be great to hear from the owners (if they are happy to do so), particularly what they like and dislike about their cars.

Great review. Other reviewers talk litres and scratchy plastics. This was much more ‘really world’. Be good to have an interview with the owner if they are up for it.

I find that much of the time I turn off the centre screen on my LEAF, it adds nothing to the drive. I rarely need GPS , and using any sort of touchscreen whilst driving is at the least distracting, if not positively dangerous.

I almost bought an Ariya when they were launched, but decided to go with another LEAF, £10k cheaper . Although my LEAF, like most EVs, can use alternative inputs I find in practice that I stick with the onboard Nisssan Connect, which has current traffic details, etc. I get updated chargers as they appear, and a simple touch of the screen gives full details of the charger. The PAYG idea for the App has existed with the LEAF for many years, but with a dealer servicing it is included, I guess the same for the Ariya. It will be interesting to know the overall MKW that Phill gets.

Great to hear another very happy EV driver. I started with 4 kWh of solar PV in 2011on my East facing roof, adding another 4kWh solar PV 9 years later, to the west facing roof along with a Tesla Powerwall. Then came the EV almost 3 years ago. Now we have also swapped to an ASHP in the past year. It seems once you see the benefit of one of these technologies, the rest will follow.

You would of thought Nissan will put a cover underneath the bonnet like most EV with that price point to make things a bit pleasant on eyes.

Having just bought an MG4 a couple of months ago,, I'm not in the market for a new car yet, but always enjoy reviews of other models, as I will be changing in a couple of years. I like the front and rear lights of the Nissan, and the software seems OK. But the car is too big for me, I'm afraid. Your review didn't go into how the car drives, and that is probably the most important thing for me. I'm surprised that Phil didn't give his car a bit of a polish and Hoover prior to your visit!

😂😂 Working full time and having a young family and dog don’t lend themselves to having a clean car, beside Dave messaged me during a night shift asking if I could meet up the following day so the fact I was awake enough to chat to him was impressive enough.

Hi I bought a new aryia e volve 87kw battery I ordered the car in June 2023 and took delivery January 15th 2024 could only get 198mile to full charge and returned the car to the dealership in northern Ireland were I am from and purchased the car . They came back to say there is nothing wrong with the car and this is normal after selling me a car with a range of 300mile plus they still have the car and nissan customer service in head office are dealing with it know . My experience with Nissan so far im not impressed as I'm having to chase after them for answers and resolve I paid £65k for this car and it doesn't live up to what they advertise Has any one else had any issues with the e volve model I would like up hear from you

Unfortunately you didn't notice that this car had a major defect!! The door seal is poor (see KZfaq " mangelnde Türabdichtung Nissan Ariya"). It's a shame that you only test on paved roads. Nissan offers this vehicle in Germany as an SUV and is unable to design this car accordingly! Lots of time for everything, glove compartment, control buttons, sunroof, navigation system, Alexa etc. but problems with the sealing of the doors were not recognized! Premium class?? No way! Weak😢

Owned the car 8 months now. No issues with door seals. Build quality is very premium. Much better than the VW/Skoda/Audi EV’s I’ve been in. Not spent any time in a Tesla to know what they’re like but they have a questionable reputation for build quality.

It takes me about 30 seconds to plug in my EV in the comfort of my garage. As with most EV owners, I owned ICE cars for years so am well aware of pros and cons of each, compared to most people who bash EVs that haven’t tried the alternative. I spend way less time refueling my EVs than I did with ICE. Unless you drive hundreds of miles a day, don’t get hungry and don’t need a break every few hours, the whole ‘takes a long time to charge’ argument is invalid.

Takes 30 seconds to plug mine in to charge while I’m sleeping, that gives me enough for 8 to 10 days travel (230 miles with 40 miles left) the next morning before I do it again. Simples.

Charging rates are academic if you can do it overnight. You do a quicker charge on a long trip while you are attending to other business. The Micra pumps tons of CO2 into the atmosphere where it remains to make the world your grandchildren will inherit an unpleasant place to live. They will be very unimpressed by your choice.

Sorry not even close to a Tesla. Price, tech, and dare I say looks. It does look hidious. It can't match the economy of a Tesla, or the supercharger network. If I was in the market for a new car this would be dismeissed imediatally.

Sorry i just don't share same opinion When i was looking for an ev, i test drove many cars, also Model 3 and Y. But ended with Ariya. Interior Ariya is way ahead in terms of quality, luxury feel, materials, from the steering wheel to seats, dors etc. It's way more quiet in the cabin than Model Y, it's like a Mercedes EQE quiet. When comparing driving feel, it feels more luxury, and for that money you get alot of luxury. Model Y can't match. Tech wise, Teslas software is really good Ariya is behind here, but Ariya have good features for example bird view camera, (Tesla just got that 2 weeks ago), camera rear view mirror, steering wheel and seat automaticly retract when going in/out the car, head up display, sunroof etc, overall luxury wise there is no doubt. Where i live, Denmark, there is no problem with the charging network. There are chargers in many working places, commune areas, of course highways, malls, centrum etc also Tesla have done so other cars can charge on their charging network, so this isn't an issue here at all.

Wrong. In tests conducted by the independent not for profit Consumers Association, Teslas were found to have pretty unremarkable miles per kwh , in the bottom half of the group of EVs tested.

One of the worst camera angles ever. All you did was glue your camera to the main display of the car. No interior or interior shots. Absolute garbage.
