December 2020: V3Cars reviews Nissan Magnite petrol and turbo-petrol’s closely priced variants to find out which engine makes the most sense for buyers. The Magnite is available with the option of two petrol engines -- a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.0-litre normal petrol engine. The normal petrol engine is available with a manual transmission only while the turbo-petrol engine can be had with either a manual or a CVT type automatic transmission.
The Nissan Magnite’s price range starts at Rs 4.99 lakh for its base variant. This makes the Magnite the cheapest priced SUV in the B2 segment. In fact, this price is comparable with hatchbacks in the B1- and B2-segment. Nissan Magnite Turbo petrol price starts at Rs. 6.99 lakh and top XV Premium turbo petrol variant is priced at Rs. 8.45 lakh. Magnite is also available with CVT type automatic transmission and its prices start from Rs. 7.89 lakh.

Smart game played by Nissan with the launch of Magnite at those introductory prices for a limited time. They are heavily relying on success of Magnite and I think they have hit the target 🎯

It's not a game, it's a masterstroke of an introductory offer. The competition could have done this but neither did Hyundai Venue nor did Kia with Sonet. All came out at expensive prices with less features. Also after the introductory period Nissan has only increased the XE variant price by 50k the rest are not touched as far as I know. Now Tata, Maruti, Mahindra are all scrambling to give offers.

The Nissan Magnite shares the same 1L engine as in the Renault Triber but the car weighs 1500 kgs, but the Magnite weighs only 950 kgs, giving it a very good power to weight ratio.

Your channel is very unique in a sea of "auto journalists" whose opinions are usually biased and subjective. But you describe everything based on objective numbers rather than opinions. Kudos for that! Can you compare the automatic variants seperately. XL CVT vs XV CVT specifically since CVT gets more features compared to Manual in XL variant and I couldn't decide if it is worth upgrading to XV CVT from XL CVT for the cost. Thanks and keep up the good work!

As you said it's gng to be the first car for you... If you're thinking to buy Magnite then It's good to wait out for 2-3months so that we can get proper feedback about performance, build quality, crash test ratings etc... Or else Take Altroz Happily it's awesome CAR 👍

Whatever you choose I suggest you go for non turbo variant because if you are a learner turbo is no the car for you...turbo only kicks in after a certain rpm which is difficult to control for a newbie and there are certain things you should do in turbo to avoid wear and tear...

See my first car was a new car and did a lot of minor accidents and bruises alongside various vehicles, Improper judgement in reversing and turning damaged a lot. So my suggestion is buy a low end new car and drive within city limits only. In highway driving I had tried to overtake another car and then lost control and my car was tossed into a sand dune. Luckily people were there to rescue me and my friend and we came out of the car without a bruise. All my past experience suggests that go for a low end car , use it for a year or 2, then sell it off and buy your favourite car. By then you will have complete control and road judgement will also be enhanced.

Yes.....petrol cars donot make the journey tiresome. This car's power is enough (non turbo) even for hilly areas. If the turbo charger fails then you will have to cough out a very big amount to repair it, non turbo are low maintenance vehicles ( only mpfi service cost which is there in both vehicles)

Tata petrol cars donot give consistency in mileage. Many tata car owners are repenting for having bought it. I say you go for Magnite XL... this is the best value for money, or else go for ford escort diesel
