Can we put the rod sideway, if we need to put in the battery

@@nokflyby No, not with a push rod like this. But since I made that video, many alternatives flooded the market. Look for springs which will be mounted in the hinge.

Hi - thank you for the video. However, the hack didn't quite work for me; it still doesn't push the saddle up, I still need to give it a little nudge. Do you think it could be that the spring is not strong enough? It is 80nm. I'm now thinking perhaps it needs to be 120nm. Here you can see how it works: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lcd-h6qLrb7NYGQ.html Hopefully you can help, thanks.

Hey Neil! I assume it's physics which struck ;-) There are some parameters to look at: First of all, is your string _really_ 100nm strong? Markings are, well, just markings - and some manufacturers are just a bit "optimistic", especially those from China. Then there is the law of the lever: How long is the spring (compressed) and how close is it's lower-end mounted to the saddle? It might be that the lower-end is mounted too high, so the spring has no angle to push up but pushing to the back of your scooter instead (giving a nudge changes this and it opens). So mounting the lower-end of the spring a bit lower should give it a better leverage pushing upwards. The downside will be a smaller opening-angle. Alternatively a stronger spring might work but certainly will require more force to close the thing.

@@my_niu thanks for reply. Yes, I was thinking it could be a leverage thing - but I don't want to drill lots of holes in my scooter to find out haha.... The strut says it is 80nm. - I'm thinking maybe I try a 120nm first, and if that doesn't help then perhaps look at leverage.

I got it working. 120nm took care of it. Not a problem to close and opens first time every time :-) Thanks for the video.
