It is time for the newest instalment in that beloved cinematic automotive KZfaq experience where we film practical cars that can be bought for less than £1,000 in a manner befitting of their inexpensive value! This may go horribly wrong...
This time, as we test a 2004 Suzuki Ignis 1.5 Sport, which is a little bit dirty due to lockdown! Be prepared for the most irritating security system ever, an outrageous standard bodykit, confusion over Vauxhall Corsa B headlight switches, the omission of any information about Subaru Justys, the good old Suzuki M engine, some questionable modifications to the interior, lots of traffic at Ivinghoe Beacon, Recaro fishnet seats and really very little of any consequence at all. Nothing untoward, then...
No Budget Reviews: 2004 Suzuki Jimny 1.3 JLX (With Boats and Engines) - • No Budget Reviews: 200...
As an independent vehicle consultant, I take potential buyers through the whole car buying process from choosing a make and model to a vehicle handover and road tax. In addition to information on this service, I also have a selection of written and video reviews of cars that I have owned, hired, borrowed or have somehow come into my possession. Please use the Contact Me page on my website to get in touch, visit my Facebook page for latest updates and share this video if you like it! Thank you for watching.

Thank you Joseph for evaluating this little gem. I always hankered after one of these, a 5 door GL, unfortunately no air con. My son bought a 2006 red 1.3 GL which I adored, a cracking little car that has character by the shed, no, warehouse load. Love 'em to bits. The yellow suits the Ignis, oh for a suitable Ignis.

Ah yes, the GL and GLX models were a lot more common. The Ignises of this generation are not quite as rare as I thought, but they are not exactly common. The yellow does definitely suit an Ignis Sport!

@@lloydvehicleconsulting I'm afraid it wasn't mine but a friend from college at the time. Also in Yellow which just suits the character of the car so well in my opinion. @@adamtoms2726 , yes, apologies, I must have got that wrong! Suzuki Racing had yellow as their official colour, so it does suit it. One of the driving school cars I used in around 2001 was a Corsa C with that engine in it. It also made a great sound, but was very slow!

I’ve never had an Ignis but I have had a Wagon R+, which is a similar car. It looks like that’s got a later camchain driven engine, so less maintenance. It looks quite a “funky” little car, and I’d imagine quite fun to drive, plus cheap to run and insure. I found my Wagon R+ didn’t feel all that good on bends, it felt a bit “loose”on bends. The Ignis is certainly on my “next to own list”, but great vid again Joseph!👍
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting 3 жыл бұрын
The Wagon R+ and this are completely different to drive. I sourced a Vauxhall Agila for a client once, which is almost identical apart from the engine to the Wagon R+, and it really was not as good. This feels much, much better to drive, it doesn't feel loose on the bends and you don't even notice much in the way of bodyroll. The Sport is relatively cheap to insure, but I don't think you would get anywhere near the running costs of the Wagon R+. Glad you enjoyed the video!
@willswheels283
@willswheels283 3 жыл бұрын
@@lloydvehicleconsulting Yeah I liked the practicality of the Wagon R, it was quite spacious for a small car, more like a little van once you put the back seats down, and it was cheap to run as well. I had an older 1.3 Suzuki engine in mine with a cambelt, the same one I believe used in the Suzuki Carry. The Ignis and later Wagon R’s have a slightly larger capacity engine driven by a camchain I believe. But the ride was a bit unsatisfactory tbh, especially in the handling department.
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting 3 жыл бұрын
@@willswheels283 , yes, an incredible amount of space in a Wagon R+ considering how small the footprint of the car is. You are absolutely right, the later 1.3 engine was completely different! The Ignis got the M engine throughout, whereas the Wagon R+ started off with the G engine before around 2003. The handling of the Ignis is much better too!

Wow sounds like another little hidden gem. Wonder how my Dad would take to one of these as opposed to his 2007 Grand Vitara. He is not tall but he is a bit portly. Excellent exhaust, fabulous cattle grid action. The cattle grid test could become a regular feature, like Mr Richardson's Teashelfery. Tell me does it feel planted like a MINI?
@lloydvehicleconsulting
@lloydvehicleconsulting 3 жыл бұрын
I would try him with a later five door model (post-2004) which actually has the standard seats, these Recaros are brilliant, but they aren't designed for long journeys. Still got the same sort of engine as in the Grand Vitara I drove on No Budget Review back in the summer. Oh, cattle grid action! Having driven both R50 and R56 Minis, it's not quite as planted as one of those, but the higher centre of gravity would explain it.

That’s a cracking little car. Although they may have gone a bit overboard with that security. But, oh that location. That’s where I used to live. First house at the bottom of the Beacon and the second in Eaton Bray. I’ve driven up that road hundreds of times to walk around there. But I don’t think I have ever seen it that crowded. @@lloydvehicleconsulting on the Supercharged Cooper S it was possible to bog down the engine and trip the traction control at the same time. On that junction that was down right dangerous. They think self driving cars are a new thing, but they had self driving Chevrolet Corvairs on Ivanhoe Beacon in 1968 LOL. I may get a new phone at some point on my contract which may be better, but there's not a lot else I can do without spending money that I currently don't really have. The channel at the moment only brings in 5-10% of what it costs to run it per month, and I cannot keep funding it to that extent out of other sources. I trust you understand. I very much appreciate you watching, and I know that the quality of No Budget Reviews is not very good. I actually spent a lot on my current mount than I otherwise would have done, it was not a cheap one. My preference is not to use a mount at all, but to have someone operating the camera for me in the car, as it gets much better results. However, this is not possible due to the situation we find ourselves in. I wouldn't be able to film any No Budget Reviews at all at the moment without the mount.
